Great staff. Friendly place for drinks and sports watching. Food is good as well, and they give you plenty.

This is the perfect place for everyone. It’s really like two places in one. They have a restaurant section which is more private for families and they have a bar area which is great for happy hour, watching televised sports, playing pool, darts, etc. They have a large selection of beers on tap and delicious food. We love their burgers with american cheese and grilled onions, jalapeños, and mushrooms. The fries are perfectly fried, and we love to dip them in their thousand island dressing. Our two favorites appetizers are their Irish egg rolls dipped in creamy horseradish and fried mushrooms dipped in ranch. You should definitely give this place a try – delicious food, incredible staff, and large beer selection.

Best chicken pot pie I’ve ever had! Friend ordered fish and chips, I tasted the cod, and it was amazing! Come to the Dallas area a few times a year, this place is now a must visit!

What used to be a decent Irish pub is now some strange ‘grill’ that has terrible service and mediocre food. Could not get clean glasses or silverware — had to keep sending things back. They seem to be short staffed which does not help. After my last experience I won’t be spending my money at the Rover Grill.

I have Been once. There was a new guy training and the manager. Both were very helpful in my beverage selection, customer service, and knowledge on which drink was to my liking. They recommended some food and I watched 2 other people come in to each. All 3 of us were overall satisfied. I would return and recommend to anyone.

Buffalo Chicken Wrap is good. The other food is pretty standard. On the upside, they are typically quiet and have good drink specials. The staff is usually fun and talkative too. A good place to just hang out and chat without a crazy annoying crowd.

Stopped in for quick lunch bite — Turkey Reuben and fries were out quite quickly — hot and tasty! Very courteous staff — will stop back for Fish ‘N Chips next time!

Love our waitresses. The food is good and drinks too. Truth be told we do get an occasional wrong draft or funky beer from what we ordered but they take it back without a fuss! Like the crowd here opposed to other bars in the area. If you are a cougar or looking for one this not really the place for you!

Do not come here because you believe the sign on the door. They can close any time they want. Came here tonight at 1 am and they told me they were closed I explained that the door days they are opened took 2am. The manager said they can close any time they want if there aren’t people there. I said okay I will tell Unilocal and he said yeah you go do that. So I am. Not only is there sub parfood the management is terrible!

Irish Pub? Umm, I would say a weak try at Irish fare. This is definitely not Irish food, but was tasty. I had the Chicken pot pie and it was hot, flaky crust, and yummy. Ouch. Burnt my mouth. They need better happy hour prices, but I would return in the future.

We came here for a work Happy Hour and it was a decent time. The place was pretty empty, but it was a weeknight. The location is a bit away from other dining establishments and parking is tough as it is in a strip mall that is often busy. The Irish theme is still evident even though I believe they nixed that from their title. We had a long high table in the restaurant area(so technically, all ages are allowed to be in here). Our server was on top of things and managed our orders well. We had a bunch of appetizers and they came out consistently. My favorite was the potato balls, which is their specialty and worth coming here for alone. Otherwise, this is an average bar that is good for group outings.

This place isn’t bad as a restaurant in general but other than décor it’s no more an Irish pub than Chili’s. The food is a mixture of styles from all over the world, with Italian, Thai, and Chinese next to burgers. Other than Bangers and Mashed and Irish Stew it seems that they stuff more potato in anything and call it «Irish.» If you really want an Irish pub, do yourself a favor and go to Trinity at Mockingbird Station.

I have eaten here for the last couple of years off and on, and I’ve always enjoyed it. However, since the new owners took over the food has changed and I don’t find it as good as it used to be. Don’t get me wrong I can still say there are things on the menu like the shepard’s pie, bangers and mash, and the Irish egg roles that are all still very good, but I was always partial to the fish and chips witch taste way different now. They have also dramatically decreased their beer selection which is disappointing. And to top it all off they have redecorated to make it feel more closed off and modern. The old design was very traditional and homie and felt like a more traditional public house. The old Irish Rover I would have given 5 stars and now sadly I can only give it 3…

Oh boy, where do I start with this one? Well, first off, this place is no longer called The Irish Rover Pub and Restaurant, it’s now«The Rover Grill». This is important to note if you have an expired Groupon. More on this later. Walking in to the main restaurant the hostess table was right in front of you, and we were greeted, asked if we wanted a booth or table and were seated accordingly. Audrey came and asked what we wanted to drink and I asked what was on tap. She responded by saying quite a lot and brought a beer menu. Well, it wasn’t really quite a lot, it was a fair selection, about average for what I’d consider a pub/restaurant. It was at this point we mentioned our expired Groupon. Even though it says that the discount expired in 2011, the $ 10 value never expires and may be applied to the bill. She ummed and erred before saying she’d ask the manager, then returning and saying no. We then again explained and she offered to get the manager. He walked over and said, «We don’t take Groupons». Well, yes you do because it’s right there. «It’s expired», he said. Yes, the discount has but it’s still worth $ 10, and we’re going back and forth over this $ 10. «We’re The Rover Grill», he says. «This is the same address isn’t it?», I says. Changed ownership he tells me. By now my mind is already made up I’ll just call Groupon and have them refund me. If you sell a business or change ownership, I thought that you transfer the assets, the debts, and the obligations on the business. Anyway, he begrudgingly says he’ll accept it «this time» and I just say don’t worry, I’ll call Groupon and sort it out. That pretty much soured the night. We ordered 1 beer each, whereas we might usually have had 2 – 3 with the meal. I ordered fish & chips and my wife had the chicken carbonara. She said hers was ok. My fish & chips were ok. A bit short of taste, and the cod was a little chewy. The batter was very thing and my wife thought it was breaded rather than battered. I like a thick, crunchy batter. As I said, it was ok but looking back, it was disappointing. I’m not sure it was worth the $ 14. Which does bring me on to the nice touch, the server told us the manager gave us a «buy one get one at 50%» and actually discounted the more expensive fish & chips. This was still less than the $ 10 on the Groupon, however. Overall, Audrey gave us great service, everything else was pretty much soured by the earlier episode. By the way, «The Rover Grill» Google+ page proudly states«It’s A New Day At The Irish Rover Pub & Restaurant Which Has Been A Local Staple of Frisco, TX For Over The Past 10 years. » . Those who read my reviews will know that if I give a place a bad review, I’ll usually give it a second change. There is no second chance here, I’m afraid.

I’ve been to the Irish Rover several times, but not for a couple of years. It has changed so much! One of the best things previously was the live music, but they have done away with it. The atmosphere is not the same. The food and drinks are very good and reasonably priced, but that’s about all they have going for them now. When our party finished eating, we were not offered anything else, including refills. The table busser cleaned up the table while we were still sitting and talking, which we all thought was very rude. This used to be one of my favorite places, and I won’t be going back.

I’ve lived in the Frisco area now for a little more than 10 years and I am just now getting to this place. And it isn’t like they opened last month — to my knowledge, they have been in business all those years, and possibly longer. Yes, Irish Rover may have actually been constructed millennia ago, the relics of past civilizations living on in this place to grab a beer and a bite to eat comfortably resting in the corner of a shopping center across from a mall that mankind is still trying to fathom the appeal of. Whatever the case, there is a reason Irish Rover has lasted all these years and I(finally) witnessed it firsthand this weekend: a blending of outstanding service, variety on the menu and decent pricing. A friend and I decided to stop by this place for dinner and drinks after work on Friday because we had just survived a week that impossibly was 73,000 hours long. With determination and the quest for beer in our psyches, we drove over to the Irish Rover’s parking lot and panic set in immediately. The parking lot is actually quite large, but every space was taken up in it. On a Friday afternoon. We ended up parking behind the yoga place next door and on the street of the apartments further back, but the walk to the door’s of the place was a pretty brisk one being that we had actual pavement to trudge across. We passed an admittedly sad-looking patio that wraps around the place and does nothing to create ambience or shade — I guess if you absolutely must sit on the patio, you’re in luck since it is pretty large. If you would rather not wage war against Mother Nature, I would keep to sitting inside. And speaking of inside, we pushed the two doors open and found ourselves in an open room with tables and booths, buttressing an almost as large bar area lined with high table tops. The hostess at the stand turned out to be our waitress, and she was adept at getting us to our table and pointing us in the right direction for which of the two drink billfolds on the table had beer within their pages(the other was a mixed drink, hard liquor tome). Beer selection is pretty varied, with a lot of local selections and some pretty esoteric ones, as well — to the best of my knowledge, this is the only bar in the Frisco area that currently serves Maredsous. I can think of one other place in Addison that has it but if you’re in the area and jonesing for a beer that packs a punch that you have never heard of, give this a shot. We took some time to look at the menu and it is oddly expansive. Burgers, sandwiches, pastas(?) and I’m sure if I looked hard enough there was a section for borscht. The point is, it’s not just Irish(or «Irish,» depending on your cultural expectations) delicacies. Variety is the spice of life, right? Maybe — my friend ordered the shepherd’s pie(which was fabulous, though could have been a bit thicker and made with more consistency), and I ordered some chicken pasta dish because I enjoy irony. That was also quite good but both meals were eclipsed by the expedient service on display. We must have placed our orders and then 10 minutes later a manager ran them out. That was amazingly quick given how packed the place was — I’ve seen reviewers on here knock the slow service but our experience was nothing but efficient. Our waitress(Bianca) was witty, knowledgable and quick to make sure we had everything we needed, while also managing her other tables spread out through the dining room. The manager was just as fast and friendly and it seems like a pretty congenial place. They let me in so clearly they are a welcoming group. You’ll find a few TVs tuned to whatever is on, and you’ll also find plenty of standing room in the dining room and bar area to watch those TVs or shoot the breeze. And chances are good you’ll be able to do so for a good while as the prices here are more than fair. You won’t be buying drinks for everyone but you also will not be bankrupt after two rounds of Alaskan Amber. The only possible fly in the ointment here is the«standing out» factor. There are a lot of places to drink in the area and to persuade the masses, you need something to really«wow!» them. I’m sure it’s here somewhere(hence the parking lot and the repeat patrons) but I did not find it on this first visit. Which is not to say you should keep driving past this place. Far from it — Irish Rover has survived and thrived for years, so you owe it to yourself to find out why. And then let me in on the secret.

My husband and I claim to be corned beef connoisseurs. and this place has the best. We have been trying to decide if it’s better than McSwiggans in Austin Ranch, and I think this place wins. The Reuben is perfect. Their marbled rye is what puts it above the rest. If anyone knows about a better Reuben, please let me know. Seriously. I’d love to try it. My husband loves just the plain corned beef with cabbage and mashed potatoes. The service is just okay(when sitting in the bar area). The service in the dining room is usually more attentive, but we’ll keep coming back for the food.

Here’s what I love about Unilocal. We’ve lived in Frisco for almost 2 years, and we had heard rumors of Niner bars in the area but never really researched it any further. One night, just a week ago… I’m scrolling through Unilocal(b/c I’m officially Unilocaldicted) and I see someone nearby post a pic of the Irish Rover, with NINERFANSALLOVERTHEPLACE! Score! So I bookmarked and told our group that we should check it out for the game on Sunday… which is what we did. We went there yesterday for the Niner/Panther game. Kickoff was at noon… we got there by 11:20 and somehow miraculously grabbed a table for our party of eight. The main area(when you walk in the front doors) is where the Niner fans all gather… but due to our late arrival and party size, we were seated in the bar area but still had a decent view of the crowd. Our waitress was really great, very attentive, checked on our table often… but not in an annoying way. I love that she remembered everything we ordered without writing anything down. We ordered a variety of different things as many of us are foodies and fellow Unilocalers. The Irish eggrolls were definitely on our list of things to try, along with the fried greenbeans, queso, and blackened chicken salad(just for good measure). The Irish eggrolls were delicious! Yummy cabbage, cornbeef, and some kind of creamy goodness all deepfried like an eggroll. The queso was also really yummy with a nice kick. My salad was really great too. I didn’t have high expectations for this place(random bar in random part of shopping center) but it definitely exceeded my expectations. Also… free jello shots were passed out every time the Niners scored… so there’s that! At first I was going to give this place a 3-star rating, mostly because while the experience, the food, and the service was great… the bathrooms were gross. I know it’s a bar… but lots of drinking takes place at a bar… hence the need for bathrooms… hence the need for clean bathrooms… hence why I hope they will update the bathrooms soon(I just wanted to use the word«hence» three times in this review). Here’s why I ended up giving this place a 4-star rating. This morning I was checking our account and noticed our card had been charged twice. Once for the amount of our entire group’s bill, and a second time for the amount of the split bill(we split the bill 4-ways). I called this morning and a nice lady answered the phone, but told me the manager had stepped out and wouldn’t be back until 6pm. She took my name and number, but I had a bad feeling we weren’t going to get a call back. After work, I decided to just stop by and talk with the manager directly. To be honest, I was a little worried that we were going to get the runaround and we didn’t save the receipt… so how were we going to prove that the $ 175 charge was a mistake? Well, to say we were pleasantly surprised is an UNDERSTATEMENT. I met with Jared, one of the managers, and he was so incredibly friendly. He shook my hand, I explained the situation to him, and instead of turning me away, he explained what he thought probably happened(sale was voided but still showing as pending on our account) but he offered to double check while I waited. His staff also offered me a drink several times while I waited(Ipas sed on the offer but definitely made me feel taken care of!) Jared took my card to the back, pulled the report, printed a copy off for me, and within a matter of minutes came back and confirmed that it was as suspected and that the $ 175 charge should drop off by tomorrow. He handed us a copy of the report, went through the details with us, and saiid he definitely wanted us to take that and follow up tomorrow, just in case the charge didn’t drop off. HOWNICEISTHAT? The fact that it’s a Niners bar is what brought us into Irish Rover, but it’s the way Jared took care of us that guarantees we’ll be back again(even if it’s not football season!) Great customer service!

My husband and I have been frequenting this spot for the last year — we go in about once a week. The wait staff know us by name which is quite nice. Recently the Rover has had some walls moved around … creating a more welcoming atmosphere — we’ve always enjoyed our visits to the Rover … until 11÷3÷13. Chris — aparently a manager — has control issues. Although the bar area was almost completely empty, he refused to put on the Seahawks game. After we got one small tv in the corner of the bar switched, we asked if we could have sound — as no one else was watching. He basically told us to go watch the Seahawks elsewhere — So we did … and two customers followed us to Henry’s at Shops of Legacy where ALL games were playing! I think we’ve had our last visit at the Rover — sadly. We will miss the friendly wait staff … we won’t miss the little short fat dude with a pony tail who walks around with a chip on his shoulder.

I came here for a going away party; we had a group of 20 – 25 people. There was plenty of space to sit and mingle and also enjoy our food. They had a live band the night we went and it was a bit too loud for everyone. No one could hear anyone talk and it was also hard for our waitress to understand our orders. We only had one waitress between our group which is why everything took so long to come out. I ended up getting the Rover Nachos(see pictures). It is individual tortilla chips covered with re-fried beans, mixed cheeses and your choice of fajita beef or chicken, served with sour cream, jalapenos and salsa and you can add guacamole for an up charge. The nachos were very good, I got them with the chicken; also the non alcoholic lemonade is also very good. I would like to come back soon and try a few more items on the menu when they don’t have the band playing.
