This is not Chinese food. As Chinese people they shld feel ashamed to represent their great culinary world in this light. Most of the food is uneatable. I almost got sick at the table after one bite. I feel sorry for the people in this area that think this is Chinese Food. Stay away, even Gordon Ramsey cldnt save this place.

The food was old and soggy. Not even the fried rice was fresh. It was like they where serving food from yesterday. The worst part was it cost $ 26 for two people. About a hour after eating there I got sick.

It’s not Hibachi in Winchester but it does the trick, has a lot of well prepared Chinese Chicken platters, seafood as well and a sushi bar. I have to commend the fruit bar, has a lot of solid options if you don’t want to stuff your face with so much Chinese food! Also, nice selection of desserts. I gave it 3 stars because I think the waiting staff is very rude. They had the soy sauce out for a fill up, and the waiter who brought it back threw it on the table without an excuse me or pardon me, when people are eating that’s the wrong thing to do. Respect goes a long way. Anyways, the lady at the counter who cashes out, I think she’s part owner very sweet and delightful to be taken care of by. Overall a nice place if you can get past the rude wait staff.

Officially my first review… If I could give a negative star, I would.. This is not about the food but mannerisms and treating people with respect.. Trust me, I understand bad or good days; however, being completely rude on three separate occasions is not an excuse. There are two specific waitresses who are outright nasty and it is not a language barrier.. They can be hateful to me but not responding to my son has caused them to lose my service forever. I will not go into the details but being rude to children is uncool. :)

Been here before tonight and thought most things were wonderful but tonight I found little to be impressed about. The shrimp tasted a little gamey and the crab rangoon was missing the crab.

Disclaimer, I am a tourist and this was our first visit. However, the experience was still just ho hum. There were items on the buffet that were really good, some that were mediocre, and a couple that were just awful. I did really like the decorating, it was unique, yet had a calming effect. There was one thing that happened that really is a pet peeve of mine that just grosses me out. The waitress took our glasses for refills, after she already took them I realized that she had another tables drinks in hand. I’m not saying that the glasses got mixed up, but how do I know. Again, that is my peeve.

Upon first entering this place, it didn’t look too bad. The bamboo walkway looks cool and I’m not sure what grapes have to do with a Chinese buffet but they’re a nice touch. The sushi was decent but very bland. The rest of the food… I should’ve just stuck with the sushi. Everything was old, I mean not one item on my plate was hot. Every piece of chicken was a color that no chicken should ever be, making me question why type of meat might have made it’s way onto my plate. Probably the first time I’ve ever left a buffet still hungry. And what the hell is up with those purple puffs? About the quality we should’ve been expecting from Front Royal I guess…

I wasn’t crazy about this place, when I went the 2 times I did the food was dry and old it seemed. The staff watches you like a bird at the buffet it seemed. I say Golden China is the best. 2nd China Jade.

Solid Chinese buffet. After being told that my wife was having Chinese at home it was hard to pass up stopping here and getting a meal. Though small, the buffet offered all the favorite items and were all solidly preparted. I liked the make-up your own stir fry option and they actually had one of the better desserts I have had, a homemade custard, which if I wasn’t full I might have gotten another of(desserts are almost always a shortfall of Chinese restaurants).

The food here is subpar its good for the price I just wish they had crab legs on the buffet. The one thing I absolutely love about this restaurant is there is a build your own bar. You choose your meat/seafood, pasta type, vegetables and sauce and hand it to the employee behind the grill they will sautee it and hand it back to you hot n fresh yum.

We’ve lived in Front Royal for 11 years. When we first moved here, there were really only two Chinese restaurants in town. Now there are about five or six. China City is probably the newest and nicest. The restaurant was very clean and the décor is very nice. The staff was very friendly and always made certain they cleared plates when needed and refilled drinks on request. If you’re looking for a buffet, then China City is your place. If you want to sit down and served by a wait staff, then you’ll find those places in Front Royal too.

Ok, so on the way home from Shenandoah valley, we were in search of some cheap greasy chinese food and this place satisfied our cravings. I give this place a 4 stars based on the quality for price. For $ 12, this is a really good chinese food buffet place… if I had to pay like $ 20, I would give it 3 stars. They have alot of options for an all you can eat including 3 types of basic california and maki rolls and even a stir fry station where you pick the meats and veggies and they cook it for you which was pretty good. They also had crab legs which weren’t that fresh but it was decent. The other stuff I really liked were the chicken the broccoli, pepper steak, pork shumai, crab wonton and the fried shrimp. They also have some soft serve ice cream for dessert. I was very full and happy at the end and I will come back here again if I am in the area and want some greasy cheap chinese food.

It’s decent food at a decent price. They have most of the standard Chinese buffet food, turnover is high, so its fresh. I realize in a place like this its all about volume, but I did feel like we were«shooed» out the door the minute the waitress brought us the check.

As Paul had stated very well, this is a new place in Front Royal that has most of your standards. My wife tried the Mongolian Barbecue and she said it was really good. One thing that I really liked is that they not only had crab legs, but they were generally good and fresh. Some places you go to, they are overcooked, and sometimes even cold. They also had spicy crayfish here. I have not seen these at other Chinese restaurants before. As for the sushi, my wife said it was pretty good. More along the lines of California rolls, then a full line of sushi. They didn’t have my favorite which is Kung Pao chicken, but most everything was decent. Definitely a nice place to get a good variety of standard Chinese buffet, Mongolian Barbecue, California rolls, and crab legs.

*** Heads up, this place is new enough that it’s not displaying correctly on the map. The address in this review is correct, but the map location is wrong. The restaurant is located in the Rivertion Commons Shopping Center just north of I-66 on US340/US522*** I’ve been to China City Buffet once with my family and we will definitely return. The selection is excellent with all of the Chinese«super buffet» standard fare: General Tso’s Chicken, Sweet and Sour, the Chinese soup Trinity(Wonton, Egg Drop, and Hot and Sour), Pepper Chicken, Sour Cream Wontons, various shrimp and seafood dishes, … you get the idea. Two unusual things that China City includes in the buffet are Mongolian Barbecue(where you choose you meat, vegetables, and sauce and the chef stir fries your dish while you wait), and freshly prepared sushi. None of us tried the Mongolian Barbecue, but the selection of meats and veggies looked fairly standard, and all appeared fresh. The sushi was on par: not perfect, but definitely scratched the«I want some all-you-can-eat sushi» itch. I took note of the turnover rate of the sushi and the chef was there making new rolls and fingers almost perpetually in small batches as people helped themselves, so freshness is not a problem. A few standouts from the Chinese buffet rank-and-file: Coconut Shrimp and Coconut Chicken: Wow! If you are looking for a treat, and can afford to clog your arteries a bit, these are absolutely worth it! Sweet and savory with a battered and fried crunch. Hot and Spicy Chicken: I like a little heat, and this very simple dish containing little more than battered and fried chicken stir fried with thinly sliced jalapenos hit the spot. Incidentally, all the«classic» Chinese fried chicken dishes were done well: small, juicy nuggets of chicken with crispy(not soggy or chewy) breading – just the way I like it. Hot and Sour Soup: I’m a HSS aficionado, so I almost always order it at a Chinese restaurant. It has become a sort of litmus test for the overall quality and attention to detail that the restaurant exhibits. HSS has a number of relatively exotic ingredients and many layers of delicately nuanced flavors. The HSS at China City was a 4 out of 5. It had almost everything I was looking for. I did have to make an extra trip to the buffet in search of the chili oil to kick up the heat just a bit, but that’s just because I like it a little on the hot side. Finally, the décor of China City does not disappoint. It’s decked out with all the kitschy fake bamboo and paper lanterns that we have all come to expect from Chinese joints. It’s not subtle in any way, so just pretend your at a theme restaurant and go with the flow. My three-year-old loved the atmosphere, and the spacious interior and high ceilings offset the sometimes claustrophobic feeling that can result from people stampeding to the buffet lines.
