Spa 1 Nails

Gf and I came here for pedicures about a month and a half ago, 3 weeks before a trip to the Caribbean. They did such a fantastic job that a basic pedicure lasted until just a few days ago! Will definitely be back!

After a long day of shopping, Lin and I decided to find a massage place as she being pregnant and my flat feet don’t mix for a day of shopping. So we Unilocaled this place and the reviews were good. Lin called while en route and made sure they could take us. Lin wanted to go last as she wanted to change for dinner. They insisted she go first, no problem as lady’s first.
While waiting on Lin, the staff keep pointing and laughing at me while speaking in Vietnamese and using a few English words.
I could tell they didn’t want to massage me, guess I look like a bald pervert or something. At least that is what their body language demonstrated to me.
Then the staff asked if I would like a foot massage instead, claiming the rooms were booked. I declined and decided to not waste my money or any more of my time — plus I don’t like being made fun of in any language!
After telling my wife about my experience, she said there were plenty of rooms. I hope others will read this review and not go here.

I’ve been here a couple of times for a Brazilian wax and consider this place my go-​to place for a Brazilian. I usually call ahead of time and never have to wait. The one time I just showed, it was a bit of a wait (30 – 45 min). This is not a fancy, upscale spa, so don’t come here expecting that. I like it though, because I get what I need and quality service at a good price.

I disagree with a previous reviewer. I switched from another salon to this one because of the LACK of «inside jokes!» All of the ladies have spoken exclusively English the three times I have visited the salon. Perhaps this is new as the salon was recently purchased by Ann, who has been the woman who has done my nails and brows. Very professional and I highly recommend Spa 1 (and Ann)!!

I called ahead and scheduled an appointment for a Shellac French manicure and this is what I received. My nails looked nice when they were all done.
What I didn’t anticipate during my appointment was the extremely low-​key, almost unprofessional, staff. There was a lot of teasing and inside jokes going on amongst the staff which left me a little uncomfortable. It didn’t give the feel of a «spa», but that of a classroom of high school girls.
There was a considerate level of cleaning that I witnessed, which did impress me.
When I was done and told my total, that left me surprised. There is a $ 5 surcharge for not being an existing customer. I was told that if I came back without going elsewhere, I wouldn’t be charged that $ 5 again. REALLY? That is the most ridiculous penalty fee I’ve ever heard. The process doesn’t change… and no extra work on her part was required. If you are going to go there, take your existing gel polish off first to avoid the fee.

This is not a horrible place to get your nails done. Though I usually only come here for an eye brow waxing. The customer service isn’t what you would expect from 6 women just sitting around doing nothing when you walk in it’s less.
The «waiting room» is very small almost non existent. You have a couple of small chairs near the front door. So if you’re bringing your children, husband, boyfriend etc I’d say not to because they’d be fighting over a place to sit while you are there.
The eyebrow waxing service is good, not great. It depends on who does the work. I never catch any ones names while I am there, but I can give you a description which won’t help much because all the women pretty much look alike.
Anyway, the one main draw back of this place is you can’t put a tip on a CC and I forget that every time I am there and I never carry cash on me so I feel bad when i don’t leave a tip especially when they do a good job.
All in all I am a repeat customer, mainly because the other nail salons in town lack even more than this place.

One of the nicest, reasonably-​priced nail salons you’ll find in Northern VA. On top of being one of the largest, it’s easier on the eyes, too. To my pleasant surprise, my nose wasn’t assaulted by alcohol and acrylic fumes the second I opened the door. The wait was fair, and I decided on a…
1) Spa pedicure: Fairly done, the exfoliation scrub and lower leg mask felt nice and cool, and she took her time to massage them in, which I liked.
2) Eyebrow wax: The lady who did it was good. Not especially painful, and quick. The end result was even.
3) Brazilian wax: AYYYYYYYYYYEEEE! I really don’t think there’s any way to avoid the pain involved. The same woman who did the EB wax did a fair job at this too. She was *ahem* thorough, and had a good bedside manner. While we conversed, it was over before I knew it. The best part… the price! You can’t get anywhere better. Don’t try.
