AGAIN, another«Over the Edge» bike shop has proved to be «the BEST»! I had only dealt with Sedona’s «OTE» but, Fruita proved to be just as good. The staff is enthusiastic, helpful, knowledgeable of the local area and ready to assist in anyway. They even packed up my bike and shipped it home to California for what I thought a small cost for all they had to do. How cool is that!!! The shop is totally stocked with any need from parts to funny local stickers. The shop was ready to repair, replace and adjust any need on your ride. Great job guys!!! thanks for the great service!!! Hope to get back there soon.

Visited from out of state and was blown away by how friendly, helpful and knowledgable their staff was. Their passion for MTBing and making sure customers maximize their riding opportunities were both awesome! We rented some awesome full carbon trail bikes from OTB and they made sure suspension was dialed. Absolutely great experience and I look forward to coming back to Fruita and OTE again.

I have been going this bike shop as a ‘tourist’ from Vail since they started. Man I am getting old. Over times that I go in, I am treated like a VIP, even though I am guessing I have only spent… oh $ 500 in 20 years?. Now that I live here, of course they are my go-to local’s advice, repair shop, latest toy shop, and just a comfortable place to stop in and say hi. Max — Thank you for today. You went above and beyond. Tires are tires, but your(and the whole team there) only cared about one thing. Making sure I enjoyed my fairly hot ride home after replacing both defective tires. And for that little, simple effort. I thank you. All the miserable people working under enormous stress at Amazon miss the smile of, not only a happy customer, but an even happier workplace such as this. I love supporting small businesses like you guys, and I love that they love what they do. It’s why I help them in my business because their success leads to my reward.

My daughter’s bike was jumping gears & they said to bring it in. So I had my wife drop it off & the guys were incredibly friendly. When my wife & daughter went to pick it up & pay for the repairs, they said it was an easy fix & didn’t take that long so have a nice day. I want say thank you for the incredible customer service & give a big 2 thumbs up + my repeat business.

The first time i went here was great! excellent service, good selections. The second time, however, wasn’t so great. I came in to get my new suspension put on. The front suspension ended up being the wrong one and couldn’t be put on. The rear one, they didn’t even want to look at it to see if it would fit or not. Ended up being the right on and fit no problem. The guy servicing my bike repeatedly told me how i should just get rid of the bike i have now(Its a basically a brand new diamondback) and how it wasn’t even worth riding. He then continued to tell me how i needed to rent from them until i was eventually ready to spend 2000 on a demo bike they would have for sale. The bike i have now is in no way the best or most expensive. But its also not the worst. Obviously if it was the best i wouldn’t be taking it to a bike shop to have upgrades put on. If I was just getting into mountain biking and didn’t already know how much i loved it, this service person would have instantly turned me off to even wanting to continue the sport. Not everyone can immediately spend 3000 on a brand new awesome bike. I would call this service person a bike snob. Basically what he implied to me the entire time i was there was how my bike was crap, how any upgrades would be wasted, how i shouldn’t even ride my bike, and how i should instead rent from them every time i go mountain biking because once i spend $ 200 on rental fees i can then apply that to the demo bike i have been renting if i buy it. As new riders want to join the sport, maybe turning them off to the sport in the beginning(especially if they can’t afford to spend crazy amounts of money) isn’t the best way to go about things. very disappointing experience considering the other reviews.

We had great service from OTE Fruita renting bikes for a family of four with kids aged 10 and 12. All of the bikes were in tip top shop out the door and the staff was attentive making sure everything was sized and adjusted to ensure a great weekend of riding. Trail recommendations by staff were spot on too. We appreciate not feeling rushed around the store despite it being a busy Saturday morning. My only complaint is the tool kit they provided was missing it’s C02 cartridge, the tube had a hole in it and the patch kit had no patches left — Arghhhh. I have no hesitation recommending OTE Fruita.

There is nothing not to like about this place. I have been to dozens of bike shops around the country. These guys know what they are doing and how to treat their customers. They will communicate with you respectfully whether you are a hardcore expert or a novice rider navigating the intimidatingly huge selection of bikes on their floor. I bought a bike here few years ago. I swing back about once per year for various needs. Bike repairs are always done fast and are reasonably priced. Rental fleet is huge and demo bikes that are available for sale are top notch. Overall, great bike shop.

The entire shop is filled with people who care!!! And, who understand and love what they do, besides being super competent. I went in there to rent a bike and ended up buying one witch by the way was a fantastic deal. They ALL treated me like I was buying a hundred bikes. I was in there with my boyfriend who wanted to buy a bike rack for his jeep witch was no simple task. The jeep had a lift kit and huge tires to deal with. Because of there expertise and competence we walked out of there happy, happy campers with our bike shop for ever. Max, Drew and the hole gang were individually incredible. Like being with your best friends. Looking forward to a continuing relationship with them. Thank you from Christina and Michael.

I just cannot say enough about this bike shop. I went to Fruita with my brothers this weekend to ride some of the best singletrack trails in the world. Both of my brothers had bike maintenance issues that the mechanics fixed on the spot, and didn’t charge for. One of them was considering a new bike, Max, best bike shop dude ever, talked him off the ledge and helped him change his stem and handlebars which vastly improved his comfort on his ride the next day. They installed his new gear for free, and gave us frosty man sodas while we waited. We got great information on local trails and they were really helpful with directions. Even though I live 4 hours away, the next bike I will buy will be from this shop. Every business should have service this good.

We walked in and asked about local riding and the bikes they rent, and Max – with the relaxed impertinence of a man who loves his work – was more than helpful: about trails, about bikes, about the coffee shop across the street. The next day I rented a bike, they set it up quickly and right, and I took to the Kokopelli Trails up the road. Their help, and the quality of the bike, prompted me to buy a bike and have them ship it back home. Then, when I had questions on setup, Landon and George stepped in to guide me toward setting up the new bike just like the one I’d rented, duplicating the high quality of the ride. Neither Landon nor George skimped on detail and ideas – written or on the phone – which was a tremendous help as I transitioned from 27 years on a hard tail to FS. Great shop with great guides. Their love of the sport spills over into how they help customers, making me feel like a friend.

Cool people. Purchased a new stem and they installed it on the spot. Lots of help on trail choices given the weather and just good people. You can’t go wrong here.

Quoted me 50% over MSRP on a new rear dérailleur. On the plus side their bike rental selection is good and their recommendations for trails are great.

A fantastic shop! Great employees that treat you as friends, incredible information on local rides and conditions, and great gear and mechanics. These guys know how to treat you right, take care of you, and give you everything you need to have a blasting Fruita! Huge thanks to Max for everything!

I had a great experience today at Over the Edge. The staff was helpful and very knowledgeable. They steered me in the right direction and help me to solve some issues I was having. I would highly recommend supporting this local bike shop.

This place rocks. Great stock, great staff. Incredible customer service. A friend and I were traveling around the western states, hiking and biking on vacation from the UK, so bringing our own bikes was not really an option. A quick search brought me to OTE, and(unlike all of the bike shops in Crested Butte), they responded quickly and helpfully to my email. They have a great demo/rental selection available and were super cool about switching round the brake levers, because we UK riders have ‘em backwards. When everything was arranged(a pair of Tallboy LTs, mine with Enve carbon wheels which I’ve been dying to test), they said to us not to worry about trail info, because they’d give us «more than we’d ever need». And they were true to their word. Max, who dealt with us was friendly, knowledgeable and a seemingly genuinely nice guy, someone who I’d happily ride with! He dealt quickly and efficiently with our rental arrangements, while discussing bikes generally and the Fruita trails with us. At the same time he politely dealt with other customers, or or delegated them to other staff members. Their mechs were — as you might expect just as knowledgeable as the shop staff, and just as friendly. All the while he was talking with us, I was browsing their awesome stock like a kid in a candy shop. They had everything you are likely to need if you are a serious mountain biker. Possibly the only shop I have ever been in that stocks BOTH of my two main bikes(Tallboy and Mojo). I wish this was my local bike shop! If I lived anywhere near, I’d never shop anywhere else. I canot rate this shop highly enough, In 25 years of mountain biking, I’ve shopped in hundreds of bike shops on four continents, and OTE is the best. I’ve rated them as «pricey» — not because they charge over the odds. The rental fees were very reasonable for expensive high-end bikes which even at the end of summer, were in almost as new condition. But they sell primarily quality gear, and we all know — that costs!

Awesome local shop! They provided really nice specific details of the local trails I had already researched, stuff I would not have figured out on my own and totally enhanced our rides. Busted my chain on first ride and they had me up and running(including a new rear XT cassette) within 30 minutes of arriving. Definitely worth the visit.

By far my favorite bike shop in Colorado. The service staff is very friendly and knowledgable. I wouldn’t trust any other shop to touch my bike.

I am a intermediate/advanced mountain bike rider… and was a bit anxious as to how Fruita’s trails would treat me. I visited The Outer Edge Sport Shop and over a weeks time became acquitted with the manager, Landon Monholland, and several of his staff… a friendly, knowledgeable group of dedicated mtn bikers, whose knowledge of the local trails was freely given and who always had a friendly hello for me. During that time I noticed how professional their mechanics were and how thorough they were during the repair of the bikes they were working on. A first rate bike shop that is interested in me, the customer. I rented a first rate full suspension bike which they spent ample time fitting to me… I felt confident and ready to ride after the time and effort they put in getting the bike set up for me. The whole town, including the OTE Sport Shop, was a pleasure to be around… definitely will return one day soon. My thanks to Landon, his wife, Mary, Greg, and Maxs for the friendliness extended to me while I had a wonderful time riding the trails and viewing the beautiful scenery.
