I was curious when this place opened up because I’ve never heard it before and wanted to check it out. Boy was I disappointed with this place! The atmosphere was alright, nothing really special in my opinion. The food was overpriced for what they were serving. The burgers were pretty small and the fries! Oh my goodness, the fries were a freaking horrible. They were all greased up and tasted so nasty. The burger was alright, but I wouldn’t eat another. Also the wait time to get our order out was way TOOLONG. I’m not surprised that this place closed down. Bad food that’s overpriced, I’m surprised that it stayed open as long as it did.

This place has closed now as I predicted back in my previous review. Sorry to see it fail as it was a very good burger place.

I really liked this place and was frankly surprised to see so many negative reviews. I guess it makes sense though. My wife and I went by there to have dinner yesterday and they were dark and empty. Sadly the Fullerton location is no more. My 4 stars remain because I only had good experiences each time I ate there. The end.

Been here twice. Both times soda machine has only had diet drinks only. Both time I have came here and took 20 to 30 mins to get my food. 1st thing one cook has very long hair and doesn’t look sanitary. While it was slow she also was playing on her phone while cooking? Same gloves still. The other cook is the cashier and a cook. I don’t see him wearing gloves or washing his hands after touching the money. He touch the raw meat. Yea no thank you. I threw away the rest of my meal after seeing all of this. I have and work in kitchens for a living. Come on. Never coming back again

Expensive for what it is and long wait times even when they’re not busy, but the food does taste good. I’ve gotten salads from here and burgers from here. I usually wait until they have the $ 2 burger specials on e-foodie and then come here for a burger. Otherwise you’re going to be paying upwards of $ 10 for a combo, and that’s a tad expensive on a college student’s budget. Their cheeseburgers are good. They take the 5 guys approach where you can customize everything on your burger; however, they have more choices for toppings than 5 guys, and their fries taste better. The burgers are pretty small, but they are filling for lunch. I eat here because it’s close to school and work. If it wasn’t, I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat at this place.

Updated review. This place has gone down hill. It’s understaffed and seems overwhelmed by a fairly small number of customers. The new cook has REALLY nasty unkept dreadlocks and does not wear a hair net. My son found a long hair in his chili fries. Gross!

First time I came here I love their sodium-enriched patties! So delicious!!! I love salt! But if you’re not into it, sorry. Anyway the place was awesome, but I think overtime it just became okay. Didn’t really wow me as much any more. I love their classic cheeseburger tho. Just feels fresh. Potatoes/French fries feel heavy and hearty. Love it. Staff is great. Employees are nice. They have one of those all-in-one drink dispensers here. Really cool. Basically you can get any drink you want and add any flavor shot. Strawberry, vanilla, citrus, diet. Etc Only downside is that people can take their sweet time and hold up the line. This burger place was pretty bomb when I first started, but it’s just a normal burger place now… Definitely do recommend to people though…

I’m writing this on behalf of my boyfriend. On the way back from Disneyland we decided to swing by the area for lunch; I chose Chipotle, but three doors down he wanted to give this place a try. We placed our respective orders, met up, and continued our drive home. I fed him his fries while he drove; «pretty good!» he said, so I took a bite– well… fresh tasting, yes, but extremely oily and greasy aftertaste with burnt undertones. No thanks. We get on the freeway and I open his sandwich. «Babe, I thought you ordered a BBQ chicken sandwich?» «I did???» «Well…this is definitely buffalo sauce.» I checked his receipt and sure enough they charged him for a buffalo chicken sandwich. Sure, he should have double checked his order. However, there was only one other party(two kids) dining in here, why would he feel the need to review their work– surely they couldn’t screw up a simple order. «The guy kept talking about how he was upset about someone being traded…»(a reference to the basketball programs that were being shown on their TVs). My boyfriend, not one to complain, accepted that they had obviously not listened to him and had given him an incorrect order, and tried to eat the sandwich. Tried. «This is awful. There’s too much sauce. There’s way too much vinegar. This is awful babe.» And thus comes the story of how we will not likely ever return and how I finally convinced my boyfriend that Chipotle was the better decision.

I came in last Tuesday around 2:40PM and I was the only one that ordered. Everyone else inside had already received their orders. I received my order at 3:02PM. I didn’t order anything special. I ordered 2 burgers and cheese fries. Let me start by saying this… 1) Walter the cashier started at the side table listening to something on his phone with his earphones. Takes a while to notice me and takes my order. Proceeds to mope around the kitchen and doesn’t really help the cook in the kitchen. I’m assuming she was new because it took her 20 minutes to make one order. 2) Walter goes back to his side table and continues to enjoy the video on his phone while the cook is struggling to put my order together… STRIKEONE! 3) The cheese fries are put into a microwave… STRIKETWO! 4) Walter says the philly cheesesteak is the best he’s ever tried… It was not good. STRIKETHREE! NEVERAGAIN… I’d rather go to Habit Burger. HB has better taste, better quality, better service and much better timing!

The food is okay, but the service is honestly so terrible. I came with my boyfriend and order two burgers and waited 20 minutes when nobody was in front of us. we didn’t get served until after a party of 7 was served and they ordered right after we did. Then they ran out of turkey for the burger, and we had to substitute one burger with beef, but they ran out because the other party behind us received the last couple turkey patties. When we complained, the«supervisor» was rude. She told me «do you want us to make your order or do you want your money back?» Which is ridiculous because at that point, I had already complained once and they had not already started making my food and finished serving the larger party and another party. They did not even offer anything as compensation until I suggested for a milkshake multiple times. Barely any fries came with our order which is honestly pathetic. Every time we come in, they are understaffed and overworked. I have worked at restaurants like this before and I can understand when a rush of people come in, it gets hectic, but on a Sunday afternoon, rushes of people at lunch time should be anticipated with the right work force amount. I never want to eat here again.

I think some of my notes on this place really give you the jist of what I thought of it: *SMH* What was I thinking with regards to coming here… way way way overpriced and way way way not up to par for what they are charging Ok the environment and ambience are totally chill here. The signs are fun to read, they have the beach boardwalk(obvi, look at their name) in check, everything is reminiscent of an east coast beach boardwalk to me. Totally kewl. As for the grub, just bring a couple of gold 1 once coins for a single burger. They seem to be that overpriced. You will in turn get a smallish burger with limited fries a bit of lettuce and a slice of cheese… Seriously it makes all the other«trendy» burger joints look like bargains with the pricing. The taste was meh to me as well. Especially even more so for the cost. If you look on the photos, I post a copy of my survey that they asked me to fill out. This review is exactly in line with that survey. My coworkers and I immediately decided to not go back here at all. It just wouldn’t have been worth it to any of us.

I placed a to-go order, and I am disappointed. I first went on Boardwalk’s website to see what options they have. The website is horrible and doesn’t provide a listing of all the condiment and add-ons you can request to be put on your burger. When I called to inquire, the worker asked me politely to view the website to see what options are available. I advised him that the website doesn’t provide a list(or the option to order online) so I cannot see what to add on my burger. He then asked me if he could put me on hold while he took care of some customers that were ordering in person. I was okay with that. Suggestion: Revamp your website and allow for ordering online. This will allow consumers to views different options and provide more revenue, while increasing staff resources by not getting bogged down to take as many phone orders. So then I placed my order(well I can say orders, since I helped a friend by getting their lunch for them). Both orders did not come with the tomato and lettuce as requested. The large order of fries was not large at all; it came in a 12 oz. cup, which is a bit costly for $ 3.95 for a small handful of fries. Regarding the price, I think $ 2 for the Wednesday special price is okay, but not at the regular price of $ 3.65. They are so small, and the food was not flavorful – if it wasn’t for the bleu cheese, I think I would be eating cardboard. I’m really not impressed with Boardwalk. There are many other burger places nearby that are far better. Suggestion: Please train staff to pay attention to details. My receipt says to add lettuce and tomato. Consider making portions appropriate for their name. The large fires was like a McDonalds small order of fries in proportion.

I had a good lunch experience here. I got the Turkey Burger, and shared some fries with my other half. The burger was fresh and tasty. Adding grilled onions can never do you wrong. The fries were good, but only after the Bay Seasoning(on every table) was sprinkled on it. I recommend for a fast, cheap lunch!

Boardwalk in Fullerton… Where is the ocean? I ordered the bacon burger with some fries and it was about $ 10. I am a Cali kid and I have no bias. I say this because Boardwalk burgers originally came from the East coast. Quality of meat and bacon and avacado was just decent. I felt like there was nothing spectacular about it. Fresh burger and fries… hmmm I’m not sure if it was fresh. The fries were definitely salty as the ocean. yes I have tasted the ocean. I wish I can share some good news, but for this place, I’m sorry.

It was good to visit Boardwalk again. It had been a few months so I was pleasantly surprised to see that the burger has been upgraded. The burger: the common sesame seed bun has been switched to a fresh baked bun and you can taste the difference. The patty must get a bit of a smash on the flat grill because it gets a great crust on the beef. I wouldn’t mind if the patty was slightly bigger — more beef without having to go with 2 patties. I got my burger with a single patty, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, jalapeño, mustard and thousand island. It was a great combination of flavors. The fries: fresh cut with the potato skins, fried in peanut oil and well salted = great fries! They are also generous with their portions, enough to share. Service: friendly and helpful staff. Price: at $ 9 for a combo it’s not exactly cheap but you do get what you pay for. You get a fresh tasting, restaurant style burger and enough fries for 2. True rating for me: 4.5 stars only because I’d prefer a slightly higher beef ratio.

I’ve been here twice and in both times, they only had 2 people working during lunch and it’s always been a long 30 minute+ wait. I really loved their fries, kind of sweet and funnel-cakey but I will not come back again. I’m reviewing this time because I was especially disappointed in their customer service. I tried to order 2 singles of their signature burgers(I made sure with the lady twice by asking her if my order contained 2 burgers total, she said yes) and instead they charged me for 4 burgers. I specifically told them that I wanted the signature burgers as singles instead but I guess it just didn’t go through to them. After a lot of hassle and frustration, they refunded me $ 4(who knows what this refund was really for anyways), but still charged me the full price for the two double burgers or whatever. This was one of the worst ‘dining’ experiences I’ve ever had. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

One year later, I return to this Boardwalk burger only to find that absolutely nothing has changed! It’s like this is Groundhog Day for horrible service. This location near Cal State Fulleryon is ironically located between a top flight Starbucks and one of the busies the and professional Chipolte’s I’ve ever seen. I walked in eager to try them out after a year long break. The cashier that I placed my order with was friendly, but when I ordered my combo, I asked how long it would take to make given that 11 months ago, they skipped over MYENTIREFAMILY and our order. The cashier smiled and said«No longer than 10 minutes! «I grabbed my receipt and looked at the clock stamp, 1:12. Alright then, can’t take longer than ten minutes right! So I sit outside and wait and wait and I then look at my watch and it says 1:28 so we are well beyond the promised ten minutes but I figure I’ll give them a couple more minutes. There weren’t many people who had followed me in, this place was not busy at all. After another few minutes, at 1:30 I figured well, maybe it’s sitting at the counter and they can’t bring it to me, so I walked back in from the patio and stood at the counter. The cashier had that look of «oh crap!» She turns and starts bickering at the cook. Geez. I can’t believe this is happening AGAIN! The cashier looks up and asks me «What did you order sir?» I see that of 3 burgers being prepped, none of them is a turkey burger. I repeated my order and then immediately asked for ANOTHERREFUND! Omigosh this place is an absolute disaster. Nothing has changed in a years time. Again, run by stupid, un-attentive children who’s heads are caught in the clouds. Read through the reviews and you’ll see real reports of people with terrible experiences at this location. They stand out amongst the cookie cutter review produced by, I’m assuming, friends of management. I have my receipt and my refund with date and time of this debacle and this time, a coupon for a free combo! Woo-hoo! How’s this for a suggestion? Make the orders that you take and service your customers the way good, professional restaurants do. This way you don’t waste another 5 minutes fumbling while you figure out how to remove the charge and produce a refund while other unsuspecting customers await there uncertain fate. Everyone deserves a second chance, I gave it to this location, compete failure. Again, my order was skipped over, no attempt to produce it at all. Won’t make the mistake of trying this place again and will caution everyone I know to avoid!

I haven’t written a review in a while — but this past experience provoked me to get back in the saddle. While the burgers and fries are decent, the service is terrible. We have been here a few times a month since they opened — and every single time — it’s a set of two new employees — one cashier and one cook — even at lunch rush. DONOT make special requests. We requested add mushrooms and sauce on side for both burgers. We received none of the sides or additions. This happens EVERY time. Get it together!

My burger buddy and I made a jaunt to this interesting offerings of burgers and sides. Going in, the line was long and all the tables occupied. This gave us a true assessment of the quality of their menu options. He ordered a bacon burger with extra thousand island. I asked for the bacon avocado one without the bacon or cheese(you can create a burger to your taste). It took a while to receive our orders(but that was because of the large number of customers and only one cook preparing them). When they arrived, we orally jumped for joy with what had been provided. The buns were artful(and tasty), the ground beef cooked to perfection, and the fries a sheer delight(could not stop eating them). The prices are not cheap(over $ 10.00 for a combo), but well worth it. A large quantity of ground beef(two patties), fries that are beyond description, and a soda machine that gives you as many options as a supermarket truly makes the cost valid. All-in-all, a site you should continue to frequent and enjoy. With more of them opening, and based upon their menu’s outstanding listings – they will become a BOARDWALKBURGEREMPIRE!

Pillowy buns. That’s what I wrote to remember my meal here. The burgers are served up on pillowy buns that are a couple slices of heaven. So many burger places put all their focus into the meat and toppings, but it’s the bun that can make or break a burger. The bun can separate good burgers from mediocre ones. These buns are sublime. The bleu cheese bacon burger I ordered felt like it was literally melting in my mouth. The toppings were crisp and fresh, the burger was nice & hot, and the bleu cheese was at the perfect temperature to ooze into everything around it. Each bite produced such a satisfying mouth feel. I didn’t even get any of their fries. The burger was completely satisfying. This is a perfect spot for CSUF students looking for a fast bite between classes, or for anyone who genuinely appreciates a good burger.
