Seriously excellent bagels. Chewy and fresh. I get bagels to go and a dozen with two cream cheese choices for around $ 20…is a little steep, but the bagels are the real deal.

The bagels (particularly the garlic) are fantastic but I love the coffee. He has his own roaster and the best coffee is only a few days out from when it was roasted. Learn to really appreciate good coffee (I like the Guatemalan)

Bialys? Check.
In house made bialeys? Oh YES!
I longed for fresh bialeys and finally I had found them. And… they’re topped with fresh minced onions and they’re um um good. Prior to discovering Bagel Bakery I would have to go to Orlando for fresh bialys. Thanks to a tip from fellow Unilocaler Scott R. I can now get my fix on whenever I want to. A bonus to finding Bagel Bakery is that their bagels, in many different flavors, are pretty darn good too.
I love their large layout with tables and booths to eat at. Their charity of choice is Guatemalan education hence this is where their house blend is from. By purchasing beans to take home you can support them also. They’re open until 4:00 everyday and I can’t wait to try their breakfast sandwiches on freshly baked and toasted sundried tomato focaccia bread.

Best bagels in Gainesville! Really fresh. super nice staff. Perfect brunch spot after a long night or before a busy day. I recommend the everything bagel with lox.

After trying nearly every bagel place in Gainesville, we finally came across this hidden gem. This city is full of mediocre bagels and, after spending an entire summer in Manhattan, my standards are pretty high. These bagels, however, are about as authentic as it gets. Nice and doughy on the inside but crusty on the outside, not too thick or too thin, awesome flavor selection, and delicious cream cheeses — the bagels at Bagel Bakery are on point. I will probably never try another bagel place in Gainesville because I’m so incredibly impressed with this one. People have commented on the price, but I’m willing to pay an extra $ 2 for something I actually enjoy eating. They use compostable cups and get their coffee from Guatemala, and the owner remembered us the second time we came here! In my opinion, it doesn’t get any better. Solid 5 stars for the Bagel Bakery.

The bagel bakery definitely does it right! They have a perfect set up and the locals love it! And I see why. Being from NYC originally something are hard to impress a New Yorker. Bagels are one of them. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about them. They are great here! Perfect amount of cream cheese also. The coffee is imported from Guatemala and is really good. You can brig your own cup and get a refill at a much lower cost. Bagel bakery has everything from bagels to pastries and muffins plus breakfast sandwiches. And more. They have a soda machine with free refills. The staff is always very alert and really friendly. The lines moves at a fair pace. The location is convenient in the Publix shopping center on 16^th across from the fresh market shopping center. The restaurant has always been clean when I was there and usually a lot of people. They have all types of seating as well and enough to accommodate small or larger parties and I really have nothing to critique poorly on. If your looking for a bagel shop while in Gainesville Come here! I definitely recommend the bagel bakery! Keep it up! Enjoy!

I have probably eaten here a 100 times. Five stars for the food which is consistently delicious. One star for the speed of service which is consistently slow. That averages out to a three star.

I’m hoping I went on an off day or too late in the day but regardless it was a bad experience. The staff are friendly (yay they get a star!)
I paid just about 7 bucks for a toasted bagel with cream cheese and a bottled drink. That’s too expensive even in ny!
The bagel was hard as a rock inside and out and not toasted the slightest bit! I brought it back to the counter and was given a whole new bagel which was very very nice of them considering I already ate half of my original bagel (I was hungry!). I hate to complain but I felt for the price I paid I needed to speak up.
The second bagel was a little warmer than the first but still severely stale and i couldn’t take more than one bite.
I plan on returning because I like to update my reviews and give more stars! Fresh bagels please!

So I got a couple of everything bagels to go. The guy behind the counter started talking before I was even at the counter. To be honest I didn’t know he was talking to me at first as he could have been yaking on a blue tooth head set or something. I eventually sussed he was telling me about the daily bagel offers. I asked for a couple of everything bagels, he slid them across the counter, and headed in an opposed direction. I watched, figuring I would have to pay at some point. About the time I approached the register, another employee fired up the coffee grinder, and so that precluded ordering any coffee to go or getting a juice or anything else. I got home and toasted the bagels. The outside is too hard, and the inside is gummy instead of chewy. I figure I will check around for other bagel places … I know the bagels at Wards were cheaper, made locally, and were at least as good.

TLDR: Fresh affordable bagels, friendly service, great bagels (especially compared to what is available in Gainesville), vegetarian options .
Gainesville needs more bagels. So far, Bagel Bakery has the best bagel Ive had. I rank this by crisp outside, fluffy interior, wealth of spreads, and affordability.
Ice coffee, bagel, spicy hummus, comes to 5 something. Certainly not the cheapest (I think Pop-​A-​Top comes in just under that), but who could call it expensive? The bagels are better than what Ive found downtown, it’s a friendly atmosphere with good customer service, and they serve a good product. I did not ask if the bagels were vegan, but Im inclined to assume that at the worst they use an egg wash. I can live with that
The day old bagel deal is pretty legit, if you’re an addict of bagels like I am, you want to take home some to keep in the fridge/​freezer to snack on later. Much appreciated that they sell you their leftovers at a discount.

My husband and I are originally from nj/​ny area and I can say that these bagels are out of this world!:-) the bagels from up north don’t usually compare to anywhere else, but this place comes really close! I have now found a new bagel place! Woohoo!

We have tried several bagel shops since moving to Gainesville last year. Understand we are transplants from Southern California and grew up with the awesome bagels in the San Fernando Valley growing up as well as getting spoiled on good bagels in NYC over the years. The bagels here are good. My preference is the everything bagel. I have had them a number of times and they have been consistently good. They give a good amount of cream cheese or you can opt to use them for breakfast and lunch sandwiches they also have muffins and other baked treats. There are other varieties of bagels including specialty ones in the case by the muffins. I rather routinely get the nova lox on my bagel (sans the capers and onions) which always has good flavor.
The only drawback is the place is popular on the weekends. Their line gets long at times and the cafeteria line approach can get backed up at times with people jockeying for position to order, pay and pickup. On the bright side, the coffee area is easily accessible once you pay for your cup and the staff is very attentive to coffee drinkers needs (I have noticed this even though I am not a coffee drinker). They also usually have samples out although you have usually ordered by the time you hit the sample baskets. The samples are kept high enough away from little fingers and behind a sneeze guard with tooth picks already applied to the tastes.
We go frequently when the family is willing. So far, I find it to be the best bagels in town.

This place serves the best bagels in G’ville by far! I just «cheated» and went somewhere different today to try something new (big mistake) and all I could think was how much better Bagel Bakery was. I always get great service. I can call my order in before I get there. The lunch sandwiches are excellent as well!
I will never go anywhere else for my bagels.

Nice place. Friendly staff and good bagels.

Terrible! They clearly do not know how to make bagels, as these were tasteless and harder to chew than steak. They put very little topping on the «bagel» and overcharge for everything. I bought their «fresh-​squeezed» orange juice for over $ 4 that turned out to be Tropicana poured into a cup. I don’t understand how this store is still in business.

I don’t understand why no one makes egg bagels in Gainesville. They’re delicious! Get it together. Anyway, the bagels here are good, if you’re not looking for egg. They’re a little on the small side, at least compared to what I’m used to. If you have no bagel expectations, this place should make you very happy.

Bagel Bakery serves my favorite bagels in Gainesville because they have a bit more flavor than the other offerings in town. I hate it when I order a flavored bagel that tastes just like a plain bagel. I don’t have to worry about that here. I generally go with their sesame seed or everything bagels with just cream cheese or butter.
This used to be a Chesapeake Bagel Bakery, but eventually it turned into a local bagel shop. The bagel recipes still taste similar to the previous bakery, but it’s been so long since they’ve switched that I couldn’t tell you the differences anymore.
The outside of their business is unassuming, but the interior is warm, inviting, and generally well maintained. When they’re slammed, they sometimes don’t make it around to clean the tables fast enough.
The staff is always friendly, and the manager (owner?) that’s usually there is pleasant to talk with. I’m trying to figure out how he can always be so happy… I need to take whatever it is he’s taking. The service is fast, so if you need to pick up some breakfast or lunch quickly, they can get you in and out efficiently even when they’re slammed.

Our favorite spot for breakfast, coffee and good bagels. Unique bagels — spinach, pumpernickel — plus scones, muffins and lunch too! Don’t be afraid — the line looks long when you walk in, but they move you through it quickly. PLUS — samples of muffins and bagels & cream cheese while you wait. Can’t beat that!
A good place to enjoy a nice read and a good cup of coffee. They support Guatemala coffee culture with charitable funds while serving their delicious coffee.
A local place with local support and local taste. A great asset to Gainesville! Check ‘em out for on the run breakfast or cater your staff with bagels and boxed coffee to go. Can’t go wrong with Bagel Bakery.

The bagels are decent and the coffee is decent. Best bagels tried in gainsville.
They have a huge coffee variety and refill charges (75 cents) go to charity.
The salmon cream cheese was cream cheese with literal chunks of salmon lox in it. Weird, but it worked.

My favorite for bagels ever! I have never had a better bagel in my life. I love the poppy, everything, and the BF loves the whole wheat, multi-​grain, and sun-​dried tomato.
The frequently have day old bagels in a bag at the beginning of the counter for purchase at discount and they are still delicious. When I am buying bagels for everyone (friends in town, etc) I get a bag of em. These bagels are not not not frozen and reheated — they are made fresh everyday; however, I freeze them when I get home and they thaw in the fridge and cook perfectly for weeks.
Also, they have some amazing pastries and muffins. I love the strawberry cream cheese croissant and the banana nut muffin. They are superb.
The owner is frequently in there working orders with his employees, Great guy with a great staff. Oh! and they usually (always) have fresh flowers on the tables and newspapers for sale, even some local free newsletters/​magazines. A+ for sure.
