I am glad for a place with organic coffees and teas open early in the morning — at 6 am. Its having long hours available helps me. I would have otherwise needed to wait til 8 am for another favorite organic shop(Karma Cream) to open over by UF. I really prefer organic foods and am grateful to find another place that includes some organic items.

Worst customer service ever. The Girl behind the counter was rude, impatient and very non service oriented. She stood there like she was doing you a favor by waiting on you. Not correct. Told her she could keep her attitude and left. She should never be allowed to serve the public.

Stopped by for a cup of decaffeinated coffee. Prices reasonable and coffee was fresh. The location was not busy for a Saturday evening and the staff were friendly.

They close at 10PM now. Wide variety of flavored coffees, and also wine and beer. It’s not as «hip» as other coffee shops downtown, nonetheless, it’s family friendly. It’s not a library, so if blenders and grinders don’t bother you it’s a comfortable study spot as well.

Their lemon poppy seed muffin was good. The employees looked like they didn’t want to be there and looked at me like I didn’t know what I was talking about when I just ordered the muffin. The machines were also really loud. Not a great place to study. :D

Pros: A more spacious and quiet environment than any of the local Starbucks. Make sure to try their off-main menu items(French Press and pour over coffee as well as frozen drinks and tea) Cons: Limited selection of sweet and cold drinks Bottom Line: If you’re in the area Barnie’s is hands down the better study location with decent coffee and a brighter ambiance than Starbucks. Barnie’s is one of those coffee shops that you might not guess is a franchise; in fact because it’s not a corporate store and because it’s the only Barnie’s in Gainesville it is a unique coffee stop in its own right. When you walk in you get this huge sense of space and variety from their shelves full of wine, coffee beans on display, and varied people that frequent it. The environment is really calming and quiet so this is definitely a welcome addition to the hustle and bustle that often permeates Starbucks. That have a huge variety of coffee beans from the local Sweetwater Company as well. Initially my coffee was decent but nothing extraordinary. I had some initial problems with connecting to the WiFi, however that was because you need a special code to login — unique to each customer. This keeps their internet available only to customers and blazing fast. The employees are congenial and easy-going. Normally I wouldn’t come back to this location being that it is far away from UF, however I discovered some hidden gyms that might be worth it after talking to a really kind employee who also cleared some incorrect information for me. Losses: They no longer close at 11pm daily but instead at 10pm(they open at 6am daily except Sunday at 7am). Additionally they no longer offer BOGO from 5 – 7 anymore. Hidden Gems: French Press and Pour over is available for freshly ground local sweetwater coffee. Additionally if you bring your own cup most coffee and tea(hot or iced) is only $ 1, while you may get discounts on other drinks as well. Their tea is bagged, rather than loose leaf, however the employee swears by the brand they use ‘Revolution’. Although they could advertise their products better, Barnie’s is definitely a great place to study or enjoy a quiet read. With a great selection of beer, coffee, tea, and wine you can be sure to find what you need here.

A nice gem that is never too crowded. They have a s outdoor seating area to enjoy on nice days. Great coffee and they serve wine and beer.

My first time here and I was ready to treat myself to a mid-morning snack. The choices were very limited and they didn’t look very appetizing. I went with a regular coffee and a pre-packaged cookie. Both choices were ok, not great. The place was quiet so I guess if you are trying to work or study you might like it. If I am looking for anything other than quiet time, I will keep driving by.

The coffee is good. The espresso and cappuccino is excellent. The cookies are ok. This is a great place to study and I actually prefer the three hour limit on wifi per password. It makes you either buy more coffee or take a break. There is plenty of seating and good music conducive to reading.

This coffee shop is such a nice breather from the all the Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts in Gainesville. Relatively quiet place, depending on the crowd with a friendly staff at hand to offer advice. I’ve been coming here for two years, ever since my roommate brought me here and I was instantly hooked. Their pastries on hand are delivered daily and their cookies are some of THEBEST I’ve ever had. No joke! They’ll even offer to warm it up. They have an extensive collection of teas, which is refreshing to see being that I’m an avid tea drinker. Love their seasonal drinks too. This past winter, I discovered what they call their«Dirty Hot Chocolate» which is hot chocolate with a shot of espresso! I’m became a changed person after that and will never have standard hot chocolate again. Even though it’s not on their menu, you can still order it(I always feel like I’m in their secret society of unlisted menu items every time I order it, haha!). This place is definitely worth the little drive whenever I want a pick-me-up from studying or a nice end to a relaxing evening.

My first visit was yesterday. The coffee was good, the staff was welcoming and the environment was great. I didn’t stay and drink, but I wanted to. Location is awesome for Park Lane residents.

Better atmosphere than Starbucks. I prefer my coffee much stronger, but I like that you can bring your own cup, and they give you coffee for one dollar. Everyone who works there is super-nice.(My son worked there, too, for a while.)

I used to ship Barnies coffee prior to living in Florida. The people that work there really know their coffee. I’m a little disappointed that they aren’t carrying as much loose beans. Instead they have 12oz bags and are still charging 16oz prices.

I know, I know… it’s a chain. They are right next to my house and open until 11:00pm ever night, so I am here all of the time. I have been a fan of their coffee since I was little, and my Mom used to drag me to the location that was in the Oaks Mall(closed) for her iced coffee fix. Sometimes I will even forgo the ice cream shop next door and come to Barnie’s for a hot chocolate or chai. There is just something very welcoming about this cozy location, the too-upscale-for-Gainesville plaza location helps. They actually serve beer and lambic as well. Inside you will not find your usual downtown coffee crowd…

Nice secluded location and great coffee, tea and limited beer/wine selection. Limited selection of baked goods too. Always great service and also open late most nights. Like many coffee shops this place attracts some creepy junior college loser types and wanna be novelists who talk too loud on their phones and linger with their Macs and manuscripts.

Although I don’t live in Park Lane Apartments, I do live close to Tower and Archer, and as most people are aware, the pickings are pretty slim in this part of town. So, I’m thankful for a coffee shop so close to my home. The coffee drinks are decent, but I love their different iced tea flavors. I’ve never tried their desserts, but that’s because they always look like they’re a day(or 2…) old. Maybe when I don’t have so much studying to do I’ll be able to sample a wine or two. I’ve noticed they have a pretty decent selection of both wine and beer.

So the coffee is pretty good and geez, what an awesome location for the people who live in Park Lane Apartments. Walk downstairs and get a latte, no fighting traffic! However the REALLY great thing about this place is it serves LIQUOR! So you can drink up then sober up with a little coffee ;-)
