Our table ordered brisket, turkey and numerous sides. Everything was Delicious! Prices were very reasonable. We were only in town for the day and so glad we happened upon this gem.

Best breakfast and coffee! Friendly and great service. Their homemade biscuits surpass any I’ve had in a long time. We go there every time we visit our daughters at UF.

My favorite casual barbeque place. Good, cheap lunch and brunch, very friendly staff, good beer prices, and free beer with dinner on tuesdays!

It’s hot in here(does the AC work). Service is slow. Fried pickles are too salty to consume. Fried okra was probably frozen like the fried pickles. Ribs were below average but edible. Mac n cheese was good. I’m sitting here waiting for my check and/or a refill on my tea which has yet to be refilled.

tldr; love it. great value for price I really like this place. I’ve been here dozens of times. i’d say 11 great experiences, 1 not-so-great. I usually come for breakfast or lunch. BFAST: I love their Big Breakfast which has a ton of stuff(iirc: pancakes, sausage, hash browns, bacon, and 2 eggs for $ 8.50) LUNCH: I love their pork sandwich lunch special! it comes with a drink and side(ok their sides are SOOGOOD and not expensive even if you buy alone) and toast(always choose garlic yummm) for $ 6.50 I also like their rib platter which comes with 2 sides and garlic toast :) Also they have a stamp card for the platters, I think it’s like buy 6 get one free. I usually get the lunch special so I still haven’t earned a free platter :/ SIDES: ok so their corn nuggets are SOOSOOOSOOGOOD. everyone’s like, «The Top has great corn nuggets!» yes they do but this place’s corn nuggets taste even BETTER and they’re cheaper!!! Second fav is sweet potato fries because you can never go wrong with that. I also like their broccoli, it looks so fresh every time. Also the fried okra. And my friend likes their beans, which I’ve tried and liked but I like everything else better. SERVICE: I adore the older lady who works there :) she’s so sweet and nice. Like when my friend tried their coleslaw and didn’t like it bc they use a special homemade recipe(my other friend LOVED it btw so it’s not like it’s bad, just wasn’t to his taste; i think it’s either a love it or hate it kind of thing), she overheard and asked if he would like a substitute side. He chose the beans and loved them. I used to go more last year and they had 2 younger workers who were on top of their work, but this year they seemed to have hired new younger workers and honestly they’re not that great. I don’t know, one took like 20 minutes to get my bill back to me when I was the only person in the place, and I was in a hurry. Another one seemed to have no idea what was going on… Anyway the last couple times I’ve been, I’ve had the older lady who I like so it’s been fine. She knows me and lets me substitute another side for the drink for the lunch special so it’s all good. ATMOSPHERE: i really like the atmosphere. lots of old photos of horses and older country music playing. Usually not that many people there, maybe one person at the bar or someone by themselves in another table. I like it. It’s casual and relaxed. There’s also a bar area. They have free wifi. PARKING: they have a tiny rickety parking area in the back that they now share with Titi’s café. There’s generally always parking there(I think sometimes people going to Bagels & Noodles incorrectly park in Billy Bobz parking area…). It’s a small road to get to it so it’s easy to miss but the road is right by Titi’s. OTHER: ok so ive been here a lot and i’ve only not really liked the food ONE time, and it was the most recent time I came here last week. It was for breakfast on a weekend and I ordered the Big Breakfast, but somehow this particular time the sausage tasted tough, and the toast was soggy. The eggs and hash browns were on par with always, i.e. great, but I left a fair amount of food on my plate. Keep in mind I had great food every other time I’ve been here, though.

Tried it and well not impressed. Pulled pork was just ok. Sauce selection small and did not taste homemade. Portions small for price and just wasn’t that good. Can’t recommend trying this place and don’t think they will be around for long. Many other BBQ places in Gainesville with better food, portion sizes and prices. Gave 2 stars since staff was friendly.

Stopped here for dinner since it was close to the hotel. This was not the first time here, but is the first review. Atmosphere: It’s a very small restaurant with benches on the outside walls and a couple of larger tables along the middle dividers. There is a wrap around bar not he back wall, but I’ve never seen people sitting at it, let alone a bar tender. It’s light and comfortable in there. There is a television that happens to be on whatever programming I assume the hostess plus on randomly. Staff: The hostess/waitress was very polite and professional. However, when I walked in the door, she had headphones in and was messing around on her laptop. She hadn’t even noticed that I had come in. I understand it was dead… but that’s the first position to make an impression. She did get my drink order quickly enough and got my order correct. However, I know I ran out of my drink at least once and didn’t see her come by very often. I assume she was probably on the laptop. Food: No matter what I’ve had here, whether BBQ or something else, the food has always been good. This visit I decided to go non-BBQ and ordered the patty melt with fries and cole slaw. The patty was cooked thoroughly(though I don’t mind if beef isn’t), the onions were sautéed(and good), and the rye bread tasted fresh. The fries were definitely hand cut, fresh, and delicious. The cole slaw was not to my liking. It was not a cream based at all, probably some sort of vinegar. That’s more of a personal preference than the preparation. Warning: these fried items were greasy… not to the point that it was pouring out, but definitely enough to be noticed. If you can’t stomach it, you might have some difficulties. Overall: This place could easily go up to 5 starts if the staff were more attentive. As it is, the food is definitely good, especially at the prices. It is extremely quiet in there, even though so close to a major university.

Not sure if I would go back but since I was staying at the holiday inn right next door, I thought that I’d give it a try. I had the lunch special chopped pork and mac n cheese… Right off the bat they told me that the bbq sauce is pre-mixed into the meat which I despise. It automatically takes away from my personal choice which is a negative and a sign that the pork isn’t that fresh. Other places don’t do this. Also the mac n cheese was bland. Overall I think the place needs some improvement but might do well due to location. The food here cannot compete with the bbq at the many different restaurants in Gainesville.

Located next to Holiday Inn on University Avenue across from Leonardo’s. Pretty descent BBQ with small sauce selection. Their pork for sandwiches come chopped as opposed to sliced or the ubiquitous pulled pork that you see everywhere. It is nice and smokey, served hot and leaves you wanting more. Ribs are average in size St. Louis style. I can’t recall if they do Baby Backs. A standout item is their Supreme sandwich that comes with swiss cheese and bacon. Order on garlic BREAD and not their lackluster buns. Sides are your standard BBQ restaurant fare. The BBQ baked beans are pretty flavorful, okra cooked-to-order, but their fries are regrettably homemade steak-cut. Order the fries well done or you’re getting floppy potato. I wish they’d make crinkle cuts an option. They take lunch pretty seriously, and if you order the rotating lunch special(that includes a good patty melt) you will get in and out in a jiffy. I took off a star for their small portions and very limited sauce selection.(How about a real hot BBQ sauce instead of the current limp offering.) Even their dinner portions are dinky. The prices are average to cheap, and I wouldn’t mind paying extra for a jumbo sized version of their entrees it they were available. They have a single, ridiculously small poor-resolution flat screen near their counter area that I am not counting as a TV. Bathroom was immaculate, they play country music, restaurant very clean, serve beer, have ice cream and some outside patio seating. Parking in rear can be kind of competitive. In summary, great prices, but small portions of good BBQ served by an attentive staff close to campus.

Loved the ribs and chopped pork with the liquid gold sauce! The baked beans were delicious too. I would not recommend the macaroni and cheese, but perhaps another side such as cole slaw is better. I’ll definitely be back to try the brisket, chicken and turkey…

I tried a new BBQ place tonight called Billy-Bobz BBQ. The service was nice and attentive. The food was excellent, I love chicken and the problem with a lot of BBQ places the chicken is dry, this was moist. I had coleslaw and baked beans, both delicious.

Good BBQ close to campus. This is right next to campus which is certainly a benefit for a student. I had not been, but gave it a try today and was certainly not disappointed. Got the chopped pork which was good and came with two sides. The fries were handcut and very good. The greens were good, but a bit underseasoned. Now for the important stuff… the bar-b-que the pork had a nice flavor and was quite tender. The cooking seemed a bit different, maybe smoked and then lightly pan fried. It came on a nice garlic butter bun which was a nice touch(although I still crave garlic bread). Service was very good. The sweet tea was good, but a bit sweet for my tastes The lunch special is very reasonable at $ 6.50 for a sandwich, side, and a drink. Portions were huge, neither my wife or I could finish everything. Give it a go and you might end up going back. I will be! It is nice to have another alternative close to campus for those days when you need to grab a bite and want to support a local place.

This place wasn’t that great. Definitely not the best barbeque in Gainesville. Meat was decent tasting, but as a whole was best lack luster. Just a bun with some okay pork on it. The pork was moist without any amazing flavor – satisfactory for sure, but nothing more. The Mac and cheese was gross. Watery noodles with some non-flavorful stringy melted cheese swimming around. No flavor and totally awful. The fries didn’t look that great, but they were really good! They appear to be made on site, and are prepared well. Overall, I probably won’t go back. It was okay, they just aren’t better than comparable restaurants.

This place just opened, and I’m surprised more customers aren’t crowding the place because of the good location and good food! I really enjoyed the chopped pork sandwich, which comes with two sides. There’s no upcharge for sweet potato fries, like there is at a lot of places, and the value for what you’re paying is very good! The sweet tea is awesome too. The only thing I would change about the place is the parking is hard to find, and there isn’t much in terms of advertising, which is why it’s usually quiet I guess. The atmosphere though is nice, with a clean look tinged with a bit of rustic.
