I came to Burrito Famous on the recommendation of my parents while I was visiting Gainesville. I ordered a fried fish burrito and got a good bit of toppings– mango habanero salsa, beans, pineapple, and all the regular toppings you can find at Moes/Chipotle. In terms of flavor, the salsa was spicy, even for me, but the fish tasted fresh and still had crispness to it. Veggies all looked fresh and were nicely chopped. It wasn’t the best burrito I’ve ever had but certainly not the worst either. A solid 3.5 stars, maybe 4 if it wasn’t for the below. The issue I had was with how the burrito was wrapped– don’t know if the employee was new or what but apparently her first attempt to wrap it went horribly wrong and another employee stepped in to help– but what I found when I got home was an extremely loosely wrapped burrito that essentially exploded all over my hands as I ate it… felt like I should have just got a rice bowl. My recommendation to the employees is if a burrito wrapping doesn’t go well, don’t try to salvage it using the same shell because it just isn’t going to shut properly. Would be much better to heat up a new burrito tortilla, transfer ingredients, and wrap it the right way.

You’ve got plenty of options at BF. From the different types of meat(including the vegetarian options!) to the various toppings offered, you could come up with a million different combinations. I really like that they have bacon, personally. They’ve got both guac and queso, which is sweet. Different sauces and veggies galore. And they PACK your burrito. How does it taste? Oh my. It’s so good. I’m a self-proclaimed Chipotle addict but these burritos win any day of the week. Flavorful to the max. You’re paying about $ 8 for one, which is a little pricey. But you get to pick your own ingredients, so I’m keeping the fifth star. The service is fantastic — really sweet employees — and the location is convenient. When I went, there was plentiful parking. A new favorite near UF.

Fresh food and delightful service! Great experience the only real place for this burrito stand to improve was the bathroom :).

I go to burrito famous for one thing; fish plantain burrito with lime cabbage slaw, black beans, garlic lime dressing, and cilantro white rice. I know this puts me on the fringe, but it’s so good. Tex-mex without apologies!

Standard burrito bar restaurant, but I can vouch specifically for their catering as I have attended a party that used the service. There was a TON of food that all was ordered and arrived ready to stay heated and be eaten. It was a good value for the price, as I understand from the person who made the order and we had glorious leftovers for days.

Wow, color me impressed. What appeared to be a podunk shack turned out to be a true diamond in the rough. I pulled up to Burrito Famous skeptical but I left fat and happy. The huge variety of ingredients was complemented by a colorful cast of employees. The playful banter of the aspiring college grads rolling my burrito gave me quite the trip down memory lane. Friendly and professional, these employees crafted me a monster of a burrito, not to mention the 1 dollar BF beer. If you like good food and cheap beer then this place is the place for you.

Decided to try this location because of good reviews. It could have been a fluke but I was very underwhelmed. The chicken(tasted the regular and the spicy) was chopped up slow-cooker dark meat. Not that nice grilled top quality kinda chicken if you know what I mean. This is your run of the mill and a tad basic. I’m sure it’s all kinds of antibiotic/caged chicken, peta nightmare. I digress. The employee behind the counter coughed on his glove– forgot the extra guac I paid for… and verified by asking him(nope, no guac). My fault for trusting him. Jalapeños were cut way too thick and for an extra 15 minutes in line, I’d have rather gone to Chipotle. Most likely won’t be back, I’d recommend an alternative if you’re interested in quality. Burrito not so famous.

I love love love their steak, and I’m not a huge steak eater, as a matter of fact this place is the only place that I really eat steak at, and the staff is always so friendly! I’d give them 10 stars if I could! You MUST eat here!

Their mango salsa is delicious and the portions are huge. I come here often if I’m craving a burrito. Sometimes the service is a little eh, but most of the time they are really friendly. :)

Probably the best and least sketchy Mexican you will get in Gainesville. Ingredients are FRESH. Service is good. Yes, it’s quite gringo, but it’s pretty tasty, and a million times better than Chipotle. And they have queso, which makes the lack of Qdoba in Gainesville a lot more bearable. I was not sure about the fish tacos, but decided to give them a go anyway. They were way better than I expected! Their options are super customizable and veggie-friendly. Only complaint: burrito toppings were a little bit disproportionate. They skimped a little on the garnishes that we had to pay extra for, which is odd.

ChompMenus was featuring Burrito Famous. After viewing the menu I was definitely craving mexican. I normally go with bowls at these places just to be a bit healthier. On this day, only a burrito would do. Boy was it delicious. Avocado veggie burrito with sautéed veggies corn salsa rice beans tomatoes garlic lime sauce and some hot sauce. Was not disappointed.

Way better than Chipotle. I got the beer-battered fish(double fish) w/maduros and garlic lime sauce on my salad. It was insanity in my mouth. Also, in an effort to compete with Chipotle, the burrito girls wore tank tops that were not unrevealing. I wasn’t sure if the amount of boobage exposed was appropriate, but I soldiered on. There are a lot of options and less structure than the Chipotle-overlord, so we felt we weren’t doing so great with our speed, but the burrito girl assured us that we were FAR better than what usually comes in. I’ll take it. This is my current favorite restaurant in the entire world, and will be so at least until tomorrow.

Had lunch here, just a simple burrito. The ingredients were fresh, the service was friendly, and the price was right. It is good to have a place where you can get a packed burrito for a nice low price.

Maybe it’s just me but I was very disappointed. I ordered a bowl and it seemed to lack flavor. The rice and beans needed salt. There are some other places that have better bowls.

Best burritos for your buck in Gainesville! I love the combo of meat/topping /salsa you can put together. Not only can this be a slightly cheaper alternative to somewhere like Chipotle, but it’s better too! Good customer service too! The only drawbacks are that chips/dip are not included and there isn’t much space to eat in.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. If your favorite place is Chipotle, Moe’s or anything of the like, get ready to have a new favorite joint in town because BF blows them out of the water. The ingredients are so fresh, the chicken tastes like it just came off the grill and their chips and sauces are made in house every day. Please give this place a try! My fav is the chicken burrito with rice, pico, pineapple, fresh jalapeños, queso, and a ton of cilantro. Then I get curry mayo and cool garlic lime sauces drizzled on top. Heaven. Ps. We had BF cater our rehearsal dinner in St. Augustine we like it so much. It was a huge hit!

Sooooo good! I ordered the Mexicano bowl and it was huge. The meat was seasoned perfectly and the toppings were fresh. I wanted something a little spicy so this was a perfect choice. Not only was my food great but the workers there were awesome! No cheesy rehearsed greetings were shouted out upon entering, just genuine hellos and small talk. They were helpful, upbeat, and friendly. Wish they had one of these in Jax.

Better than Moe’s and chipotle in my opinion. So far my favorite is the salad with chicken, beans, fajita veggies, cucumbers, salsa, and chipotle ranch. The food is excellent and they try to get you in and out quickly. Only downfalls is not much seating for eating there and parking can be a little issue. But the food and fast service makes up for that. Love it.
