I had Cox cable years ago and left them thanks to poor customer service. Based on recent events, that hasn’t changed much. My next-door neighbor has phone service through Cox. A subcontractor of theirs shoved their shovel into the ground near where my ISP(AT&T) has their box and managed to sever my phone /DSL line. It would’ve been nice if they’d dialed or at least checked before they dug, but I guess they were too lazy. The subcontractor popped his head up over my fence and apologized profusely, and I stayed out on the back porch while he tried to fix his mistake. Eventually my phone and DSL was restored, but just to be sure I submitted a trouble ticket to AT&T so they could verify the integrity of their line. Good thing, because after a drizzle that same afternoon, my phone had severe static and my DSL was dropping repeatedly. Turns out, Cox’s subcontractor took the lazy way out. and simply used DUCTTAPE to fix the line. An experienced AT&T tech arrived before the end of the day and took the time to properly fix my line, since then the signal has been flawless. Today my neighbor and I are chatting and she mentions that not only her phone service but that of ALL other Cox subscribers in our neighborhood is offline. Apparently Cox waited some 10+ years past the 20 year life span of their wiring from the street to replace it. No thanks, I’m happy to have slower, reliable DSL service and excellent customer support through AT&T than tolerate the crappy customer service Cox offers.

I moved to Ocala from Pinellas Co in March. I was very anxious about Cox and their service since I had never heard of them. I was used to Bright House. Working from Home I needed 100% reliability 100% of the time. While this may seem extravagant, I leave 2% for error or downtime. I was so neurotic about the thought that Cox would not deliver what Bright House does, I almost changed my move location. Well, I’m here to tell you, I am extremely pleased. For the 1st time in 4 months my internet was down for 30 mins due to an accident or something local. I read various negative reviews. I don’t know if it depends on location. Regardless, I am very happy with the reliability of the service and customer service.
