Michael’s is a haven for crafters and Gainesville is so lucky to have one now!
It seems crazy that this location has been open less than a year — that’s my wallet talking — because I really can’t go in without dropping at least $ 100. Frequently. It’s an addiction.
From jewelery making supplies to cloth crafts, scrapbooking, floral arranging, wood burning, knitting, cake decorating… they really do have what you need!
At the moment I am planning a DIY wedding and recently bought the supplies to make the feathered hairpieces for myself and the flower girls, the bouttoniers for my groom and groomsmen, birdhouses to paint, the supplies to make some giant pinwheels and some adorable cupcake wrappers for my dessert table!
The staff are very friendly and I find it charming that when I’m checking out someone usually asks «So what are you working on?» as they scan my purchases, as if my creative ventures really matter to them :)

I’ve shopped at this Michael’s a few times for random things. The store is always organized and clean. They’ve got some great deals on framing if you go on the right day. They seem to always be having a sale. The service is quick and somebody will always greet you. Check-​out moves quickly usually too.

It’s about time! The newest Michael’s store opened today in Gainesville, making a trip to the Mall of Georgia area to pick up crafting supplies unnecessary forevermore. Yahoo! Not that it’s that far to go, but we really dislike the mall traffic… especially on the weekends.
We have been watching for awhile now this new store being put together and they do not disappoint. They have organized it very well with several crafts having their own little cubicle-​type section. There are wide enough aisles, a good amount of stock on hand, and the framing department is to die for. The frame selection is plentiful and they have several new types to choose from.
Of course there was a special 15% off your entire purchase coupon just for today that included even sale items. Such a deal! The «real» grand opening will be this Sunday with giveaways, etc. As we left with our purchases we were enthusiastically invited back for Sunday’s «party». Hope we can find time to fit that in.
Having this Michael’s store here along with Bed, Bath, and Beyond, a new Ulta store, and Kohl’s, will absolutely rejuvenate this grizzly little corner shopping area. Check it out. You will be thrilled to no longer have to drive to «the mall».
