What really annoys me about this location is that they open at 11 and say they stop serving breakfast pitas«in the morning», when the sign by the register(and everywhere online) says all day breakfast. So, if at noon I want a breakfast pita, I can’t get it… Even though they’ve literally been open an hour. It’s pure laziness. One employee one day told me that they can do it if it’s not busy. So basically, they don’t want to crack an egg and scramble it at this location.

This place is my jam!!! Ok, it’s not cheap and the food is pretty mediocre, but the ambiance is rad. The pita makers are cool, the layout is done well, and it’s a place where you can bring your silly vegan buddies, what more could you want???

I don’t come here often, but when I do the place has a smell which doesn’t sit too well with my nose. The employees vary. One time someone accidentally gave my pita to someone else so she had to make another one. But the pitas are delicious. I like a club or turkey or Black Forest ham pita with ranch, mustard, lettuce, and tomato.

This is a very convenient place to grab a quick, and healthy if you choose wisely, meal by the University. If I don’t have much time, or everywhere else nearby is packed, I will indulge in a pita. I actually like the hummus pita with grilled vegetables but the general lack of cleanliness in the restaurant is worrisome. Last time I ate here business was slow, there were four employees behind the counter, and every single table was filthy. This is adjacent to another restaurant, Relish, which has a decent hamburger with a hamburger topping bar. The duality of this establishment makes it a good choice for a group with divergent food needs. Whenever I eat at Pita Pit I am with someone who would prefer the Relish side and I always sample their French fries. I have had French fries that were limp, soggy, sorry excuses for French fries and French fries that were perfect. Last time one of my companions got a beer here and I was surprised at how tacky the message on the beer glass was. Would I eat here again? Yes, but… so I would have to recommend this with reservations.

You get a huge pita filled with whatever you want, so I like it as an option for lunch. Their prices are okay for meat pitas, but I was expecting cheaper prices for vegetarian ones(which is a bummer). The felafel is meh and the spicy black bean is good. I like that I can add all the veggies I want into my pita. I’ll be going here often since its right across the street from campus.

I really get down to some Pita Pit, but every single time I go I usually leave pissed off. Most of the employees hassle me and doubt my GHFC membership discount and have to go check with the manager(hint: it’s on the front door, ya’ll and the food is already marked up compared to across town) and the employees here are usually too busy carrying on conversations between themselves to even know what is going on. Another note, these people touch EVERYTHANG with those gloves on from wiping sweat, touching meat and moving ingredients that fall from bin to bin. Don’t come here if you like sanitation or have allergies. That being said the food usually tastes pretty good and you can’t beat the location.

Didn’t care for this place much. There is a better pita place on Archer Rd by Verizon. I would much rather spend my money there and not feel like I wasted my money on crap.

How can I say how much I love Pita Pit. The place is just flat out amazing! The place has a great variety of choices for the type of pita that you want. There are several different meat or vegetarian options. Then you get to decide what kind of toppings that you want on your pita. There are so many to choose from! There are many different veggies, cheeses and sauces. Once your pita is made and filled with all of you toppings, the thing is huge! I am always so full after I eat one of these! They have a Coke freestyle machine at this location. It is like the come machine of the future! You get to choose what type of pop you want from over 200 options. It is so much fun to see what all they have. The only thing that I can say that I find annoying about this place is that it has really loud music and it can be very cold in there. Otherwise I live Pita Pit and will be a forever customer!

Regular stop when I visit my daughter at UF. Huge sandwiches with fresh ingredients. I had the falafel which was just ok. You select from many fresh toppings such as hummus, spinack, cucumbers and hot peppers. The toppings were the highlight. The falafel was cooked on the grill and crumbled up quite a bit but tasted good. Just too dry for my liking. This is a good place to fill up with a pretty healthy meal.

Chicken Caesar wrap is my favorite thing to order here, you can load up your pita with tons of different fillers and sauces all included in the initial price. One is usually enough although ive taken down two on days when im super hungry. The food has always been fresh as well as the extras you can stuff the pita with. Taste is also very consistent and the price you pay is very fair. GREAT late night snack after the bars!

Stopped here while roadtripping through Florida. Only noticed it because I had an entertainment book coupon, which I conveniently forgot to use when I ate there. I agree with the other reviewers that the employees are slacking. The food is sub-par at best. I ordered the falafel pita with some extra veggies. Not good, especially for $ 8. I would say to just stay away from the place…

Average, yet… So, after getting my hair cut by the awesome Chip next door, I was feeling hungered and ventured in to try the Pita Pit. I’ve eaten at Relish(same owners/shares a cola machine) many times and love those meaty sammiches… so, time to Pit it. Pros: Good quality pita, fresh, they open up nicely, stuff them with whatever you want and your meat of choice. It was big enough that I ate about 2⁄3 of it and took the rest home for later. It was really good microwaved last night as I drunkenly stumbled into bed at 3 am…(but I digress). *ahem* Further: Lots of fresh toppings choices, 3 cheese options and sauces aplenty. I had the mixed meats and added some veggies and feta cheese. I LOVE that the cola bar dispenses crushed ice. Best way to serve soft drinks in my opinion. WIN. Cons: The vent hood sucks. Well, actually it doesn’t suck, and that equals fail from an atmospherics point of view. I don’t want my clothes to smell of fried stuff all day. Fail. That cost them the extra star I the would have gotten for the crushed ice. You can take your food to the adjoining Beer Pit(same as Relish — hood is wimpy in there too) and whenever I eat there I do. Its cool, not stinky and usually quiet-ish or has rock playing. Far nicer place to nosh over the stinky hot spaces adjoining. Lets face it this place exists mostly on location. Its better than the Swamp, but nothing epic or memorable. The comments about the employees seem to be from a few people who have a beef with the place — there were 3 decently attractive women there, one in professional attire, two in Pita Pit shirts and slacks or a skirt. The girl in the skirt has amazingly cook tats on the backs of her legs — looks like laces going up… pretty hot if you ask me. It has no impact on her performance, or the speed of service or the quality of the food. So, I’d ignore those sour grapes from the past, and if you want a decent meal at a reasonable price — and more than I could eat for 8 bucks or so(with a drink) then give it a try. Some people really seem to dig the place. I’d go back. — — — — — - NOTE: The property manger is an ass, and has contracted with a towing company to have an onsite all day spotter. IF you leave the property, they will yank you car so fast you won’t believe it. NO reflection on any of the businesses in the plaza — but you need to know this and beware.

I frequented this place quite a few times my first 2 years at UF. The food has never been all that bad and for fast food, it’s pretty decedent. Honestly, I don’t give a crap whether the employees look like tattooed junkies. I could see them prepare my food from the counter and they always made my pita straight to the order, even with the banana pepper sauce I loved. It’s pretty good food for a quick lunch between classes and it’s saved me from the munchies after the clubs close at 2 am.

Why all the hate?! I hate to see this place getting slammed like this, because I believe it was and still is an integral part of the University of Florida experience. Lets put some things into perspective. Pita Pit is located DIRECTLY across the street from the Murphree area dorms. To add to that, it is within shouting distance of not only Grog House(Beat the Clock=Drunken Mayhem), but also XS(Frat-tastic) and Ballz!!! Now I don’t know if you’ve ever walked past Ballz but that place ALWAYS looked packed. Almost forgot to add Beer Pit to the list. With all of these places in such close proximity, one definitely shouldn’t be surprised at the late night atmosphere at this place. I am just thankful there is a place for everyone to go and chow down on a nice(Insert your Favorite PIta here) after going out. In my years of going there I never had a problem with the staff. I can’t imagine what it would be like working the night shift there though because like Erik L. said, it is full of inebriated zombies. No joke. It reminds me of the movie«I am Legend”(Go see it).when it turns dark and all the zombies come out. They must feel like Will Smith did, except only every Thurs-Saturday night. the more power to them though.*ahem* back on task… Major downside is There are NOT that many chairs in there, so when it gets busy it may be a pain to find seating. You can always find a coupon for cookies and or a drink in the gator greenbacks handed out on campus or in the Reitz. Pita Pit isn’t the classiest place… Pita Pit isn’t even a normal restaurant… It is more of a Pita Dispensory, catering to the needs of your everyday college student. You have to at least try it once. There aren’t too many late night options in Gainesville, and id be willing to bet most people who leave UF have a story(good, bad, or just mediocre) about eating here.

This place is good and I don’t care if drunks follow the smell of food and end up here. I love me some chicken caesar pita and it always delivers. My personal tip is to request double meat and ask for croutons if you get the chicken caesar.

Pita Pit is good if you’re looking for a non-greasy fast food option. They do have a lot of options and allow you to pick and choose your ingredients. The chicken souvlaki with tzatziki sauce was good. Not the most outstanding place, but again, a good option for something quick and relatively«healthy».

Can fast food be healthy? Probably not, but at least you think you’re eating healty here. For under $ 5 you can get a huge pita filled with hummus, cucumbers, sprouts, lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms and jalopenos. Top it with some Tzatziki and you’re all set. Cheap, filling, and pretty good(for fast food).

I’d say 90% of their daytime revenue comes from freshmen who don’t know of any better places to go and want a quick, close place to go. 99% of their late night clientele consists of inebriated zombies on a beer-fueled quest for any sort of edible substance. Food is mediocre. Little attention to quality. Crude, ill-mannered staff. Even in my 2am drunken stupor there is still much to be desired.

All the employees are drug addicts, yet the paintings of devious vegetables on the walls don’t scare their fractured little minds. I’m no longer sure how the world works.
