Visited today with my friend to celebrate her birthday. We had the cuban on sweet bread… and it was delish! As we were waiting on our sandwiches fresh pastries were brought into the store & so, well I had to have one & it was still warm!!! mmmmmm This is the second time I’ve come to this location & it’s been great both times! I guess I’ll keep coming back…

So I came back because I wanted some beans and was on university… Went to eat lunch they still had not opened. Told me it would be another 15 minutes. I decided to wait because class would be starting within the hour. Waited, until they took my order and SURPRISE… again…, no plantains, no black beans and no bags… Could have mentioned what you were out of before having me wait for something that was not there.

Flacos’s used to be my favorite place to get food after hours … but they have really gone down and I’m quite sure I’ll never come back. We came in starving and ordered 4 tacos. We sat down and watched an entire party of 10 people come in after us, order, get their food, eat, and leave and we still didn’t have our food. When we asked about our food, they had forgotten/misplaced it. By this time, we had been there 30 minutes and were past starvation. They made our food, and I asked the server if anything could be done about the wait. She snapped and said«you got your tacos, what else do you want??!». No one ever apologized for forgetting our order. I just got home, and one taco is missing. I even paid extra for the guacamole taco and it’s not even in the bag, after all that attitude. I quit. I am never coming back here again.

Flaco’s claims, «best Cuban sandwich in Gainesville.» I hope their claim is not true. I can only criticize this sandwich as sandwich, not as a Cuban sandwich, because according to my husband, what they are serving is a sandwich in the cuban style, rather than a «Classic Cuban Sandwich,» with essential ingredients being sliced roasted pork and pressed Cuban bread. Not a good sandwich. The pork was kind of like potted pork or pulled pork, and the ham was salty deli ham. Both meats were dry. The sandwich on the other hand was swimming in Mayonnaise. I did not detect mustard, and mustard and pickle are critical to a Cuban sandwich, — as is the bread. The bread should be Cuban bread. I assume this Flaco’s is related to the Flaco’s Cuban Bakery so I would think they would get the bread right. They did not. Cuban bread is a firm floury kind of bread that stands up well to pressing. This was a soft kind of eggy bread that did not stand up to pressing. The bread was also heavily buttered, and it had an odd flavor that I could not identify. I am by no means an expert in Cuban sandwiches, I would not even know what they were if it were not for my husband who orders them EVERYWHEREWEGO! And, I think the only reason he orders them is to criticize the sandwich and then transition into telling stories about living in Miami, «in the old days.» I love sandwiches and this sandwich I did not love. So I very much hope that this is not the best Cuba Sandwich in Gainesville. If you are going to claim you have the best in town of something, you better be ready to back it up. I feel tricked into making a special trip. I may have liked Flaco’s, but the expectation was set too high, and the singular thing that I was sent there to try was a fail.

Absolutely loved the pork burrito with pineapple-chipotle sauce. Incredible! Forget El Indo and Burrito Bros., there’s a new king in town! One of the best burritos I’ve had, seriously! Wife had the beef burrito with avacado-garlic and loved it.

This is such a small place — more like a hole in the wall. I’ve heard the downtown location is much better. Ordered a sandwhich and it was really good, so for the quality of the food I’ll give it two stars.

Flacos has long been one of our favorites! Flacos at midtown… We love this place but when 1 person is working the window and making food I know this place could be better managed. There is so much potential that is not being taken advantage of.
