After dining here a multitude of times, I have tried almost everything they have to offer. During the workday, the lunch crowd trickles in at a constant pace. There is normally one waitress, but today thankfully there were three. The once small storefront has doubled in size. You will find that many items are often sold out that are on the menu, today was; red beans, picadillo, guava cheesecake, and most of the sodas on the soda fountain. Being out of basic items has often been a problem every single time I have dined here, you never know what they will actually have available. The guava cheese empanadas and guava cheesecake are my favorite desserts. The only savory food that I would return for is the Marinated Roast Pork. Sometimes they also serve specialty items, like today customers were ordering the advertised oxtail. The sandwich prices will run you $ 7 – 8, however so will the full size entrees. So the entrée may be a better deal for some. I have yet to try all of the other similar food options in Gainesville, to compare them to Vitrually Cuban. To be honest, we will probably not return unless I am craving something specific. This establishment has also had their food health/cleanliness ratings plastered all over the internet, but I have never been sick from eating here.

Came here after purchasing a groupon couple of months ago. Location: very small strip plaza that seems deserted. I have passed by this place many times and I thought it was out of business since everything in that plaza looks closed. Food: I had the ropa vieja and my bf tried their lechon. I’ll have to say they make some really good lechon, the style that is made differs from other places that I have tried in town. The lechon was very juicy and flavorful. Ropa vieja was just average compared to other places I have tried, they didn’t change it much. Price: About $ 8 something for one of their plates and around $ 6 or $ 7 for their sandwich. One thing I did not like is that each plate only came with one side, while many places it comes with two. Extra sides are $ 1.25, so you would end up paying around $ 9 something. Which I think is a little pricey for the food that was given. You can always find good and cheap cuban food. I would pay more if it was super good and not something average that I can eat some place else for a lesser price. Enough with all the price, good thing I tried it using a groupon.

Not a Cuban food fan, but my girl wanted to try it out, so we stopped by here and man was I glad we did. The lunch special was cheap and the Sandwiches they had here was great! My girl had a cuban sandwich with some sweet plantains! Never saw her eat so fast! I had a pork dish with rice, yucca and some beans with it. Actually enjoyed it! It doesnt hurt that the staff are very hospitable! Im pretty sure this place is family owned, you can just tell from how close the staff are and how they treat each other. I recommend this place to anyone who loves Cuban dishes! Came back here a few more times for the fried plantains. Just cant get enough of it.

Good place to grab cuban food in Gainesville. There aren’t too many good Cuban restaurants in Gainesville, but this place is pretty good. I’m from Miami so I’ve had my fair share of cuban food. I really like the sandwiches here. They have great lunch specials and it’s a little cheaper than other latin places in Gainesville. The location is kind of secluded(even though it’s on a busy road) but the service is real friendly. They also serve café con leche, but I’ve never had it there. Overall, it’s a good place to grab a cuban sandwich for lunch, but it’s nothing too special.

I think they have the best cuban sandwich in Gville They use real pulled pork, not sliced. Very very good. Like the other posts mention, they are a mom and pop style place. Home cooking cuban. Many years ago(4+) they used to have barter signs up, I asked what that was all about, they belonged to the barter network, for trading services. They owner said restaurants have a 300% mark up on food, so it is easy for him to offer food for service. I haven’t seen the signs up there as of late, in fact I haven’t seen the owner in a while. Not sure if the sold it to new owners. I think MiApa has really improved their game. So I go there for my cuban dishes. I like the fact that they give you a big(syrup style) jar of mojo sauce to pour on everything. No other cuba places in Gville do that. Last time I was in VC was they had an AC problem, went in a week later they still had an AC problem. I hate to be hot when I eat in July in Gainesville. Hope they have it fixed now. They have very weird hours, so call before you go. If you don’t go at lunch M-F don’t assume they are open.

It is a family owned restaurant. Their place is fairly big. Their combination of food is pretty good. It is fair with their prizes. I ordered a Cuban sandwich with croquettas and plaintains. It turned out to be pretty good. Nothing was over done. They put a lot pork in their sandwich. Their style of food reminds of miami Cuban style. Overall I will go back to try their other food. But meanwhile, they have receive a 4 star for now, because of their fast service and good cuban sandwich.
