The burger was good but I really like there version of beans(Ranch Beans), bbq pinto beans. Tried my ladies chopped pork sandwich, I liked it more than she did but I would recommend you try the sandwich with the beans.

For the owners: Why would you close at 8:00pm on early weekdays? I came in with my father at 7:56pm the other day and was told we could not dine in as the establishment was closing in 4 minutes. I know Gainesville is full of old people and Blue Plate specials but seriously? The food is excellent I have no complaints there, I just would never turn down $ 65+ dollars while it’s still just barely light outside — just a suggestion. If the Bone were on The Profit, Marcus Lemonis would not approve of these hours.

Called to order the family pack. They up charge for switching out meats. This is unlike their competition in the area. The family pack(small) is $ 56 and ask an additional $ 5.00 for swapping out meats that already exist in the two different offerings. That should be noted on their menu and not wait until you call in and start to order. Also, customer service could be improved.

Drove by and the smell was tickling my nose so I stopped in for lunch. There were no lunch specials so I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with onion stings on top(have to add that) and a side of fries. Food came out pretty fast looked and smelled delicious. I got some of their whisky BBQ sauce and poured it in the sandwich and dove in. Just amazing. Onion straws set it off with the BBQ and the tender pork. The fries are fresh cut and they were damn good too. Oh, also they came out with a basket of cornbread with sweet cream butter and let me tell you. That cornbread was fuggin amazing. Surprisingly sweet with cinnamon and the butter to go with it? Just wow. I may go back just for the cornbread. I’m gonna come back n try the three meat platter one day!

I could smell the smoke outside, a good sign. At BTTBS for lunch mid-week, I had the Pulled Pork BBQ Platter with potato salad, and a corn cob. You order at the counter and they deliver to your table. The person taking my order was pleasant and helpful. Surprising, only one other table was occupied at lunch on Thursday. The BBQ was good.(Some may like BTTBSBBQ more than I did. Those who follow my reviews know my BBQ expectations are high after living in Memphis and Austin.) BTTBS potato salad is familiar and the corn a bit over cooked. The corn bread was surprisingly sweet, with a cinnamon flavor, more like dessert than a side to the BBQ platter. Overall good, not great, but I’d come back another day for my BBQ fix.

The staff was friendly and you get a lot of food for the price. Indoor and outdoor seating as well as beer sales. I was surprised to learn this place was in a shopping center as opposed to a stand alone building. Regardless it was a good experience all around.

I have tried this place twice since being in the area for work. To me the chicken tastes realllllly smokey which I’m not used to at the bbq place we have back near where I live. The coleslaw is very bland and not much else. They have a decent sized menu to choose from. So maybe I got the wrong stuff. I tried pulled chicken nachos and then the bbq wings and coleslaw.

We were just in town for a concert at Jiffy Lube Live and wanted some quick GOOD food! Unilocal saved the day! My niece ordered the pulled pork with a side of mac and cheese. She LOVED it! We will be back!

When the weekend comes I try and find new bbq places to sample. I’ve had a few good ones and a few not so good… this place isn’t good… it’s GREAT. The ribs were delicious and the sauces were really quite good. The meat was perfectly cooked, and you could taste the smoke flavor. Great job. The sides were also very tasty. The staff on hand was very friendly and helpful. I have found one of my new favorite bbq places. Great job and I’ll see you again soon. Highly recommend.

A little pricey for the small amount of food you get. The appetizer wings & cornbread were great. The main entrees were mediocre. A little greasy for me. The ambiance is cool & different. This is a one & done place for my husband & I. Definitely NOTTHEBESTINNOVA. On to searching for the next BBQ place.

I’m updating my review based on our service last time in the restaurant. We ordered and grabbed a table, cornbread was brought to the table. After a reasonable wait the manager came to the table and informed us that our dinners had been dropped in the kitchen. Our daughters food wasn’t dropped so it came right out, thankfully. An honest mistake and we were glad to have been informed. Our issue was that they only decided to remake my meal and not my wife’s. My plate came out alone and we waited. We never saw the manager again, in fact it was the very pleasant hostess who was just checking up on the entire dining room whom we told. She went to the back, returned and said it would be right out. Several minutes later and her meal finally came out. We ate and left, no one else stopped by. As I’m writing this review it’s dawning on me that their kitchen is right on top of the dining room, virtually. I did not hear any commotion that sounded like dinners being dropped. Perhaps it was a situation where the plates didn’t fall but only the food on both plates was somehow dropped(that doesn’t seem far fetched at all). Or more likely, both our orders were never made in the first place and when they went to rush it forgot my wife’s for a second time. The food was good as usual, just wish the manager had come back to make sure the issue was resolved fully. I don’t think it’s within me to drop my rating to two stars, but I’ve definitely experienced better.

Visited my brother’s family and didn’t expect to find good Q up «north,» but lo and behold: it was tasty. The smoked turkey is smooth but not overpowering; the ribs weren’t the best I’d ever had but were still plenty good, and the brisket could’ve been from Texas. Really nice smoke ring and some tasty burnt ends. Sauces was tangy and added a lot without overpowering the meat. There’s a hot one that was fun to try, too. The sides were a big win, too. A larger and better-tasting than I expected. I went back the next day for some more of the mac and cheese. Get the potato salad. And bonus cornbread is always a good thing. Service was friendly and helpful, especially considering we were a pretty large group… with kids… who came in late. Decent TV set up, too. Good place to watch a game in a bit more quiet/non-sports bar type atmosphere.

We’ve been going here for the $ 7 lunch specials and they are delicious. I highly recommend the pulled pork sandwich. The corn bread is also quite tasty!

Their beef brisket chili and pulled pork nachos are amazing. Tried their food truck at Old Bust Head Brewery and had to come to their restaurant. Smells amazing the minute you walk in the door. The staff is friendly. So many amazing items on their menu. I want to come back to try them all!

A bit of a disappointment for BBQ. I ordered the 2 meat platter, ribs and brisket with potato salad and mac’s cheese($ 1.50 xtra). My wife ordered the pulled pork sandwich with regular fries. You place you order, then sit in their rustic dining room, and they bring your meal to you. The staff was welcoming and friendly. Once we sat down a fresh order of cornbread with what I think was honey butter was brought to us. Then in about 5 minutes they delivered our meal. The brisket seems to have been sliced on a slicer due to uniform slice sizes verses hand carved. The brisket was dry and flavorless with a very thin bark. The platter came with 3 ribs that we also dry with a little smoke flavor. The sides we OK, potato salad was the best part of the platter. The pulled pork sandwich was flavorless almost boiled like taste, the roll was fresh, with the fries being greasy and under cooked. The house BBQ sauce was flavorful, I know because I needed it to moisten my meat. All in all, if you are craving BBQ and just willing to settle for some and your in Gainsville, try Bad to the Bone. However if you are willing to travel about another 10 – 15 minutes. Try Willards BBQ in Chantilly just off 66 for great BBQ. No I don’t work for Willard just a regular BBQ fan and have eaten there offten.

Ok, so I avoid the chicken here and go for the pulled pork and french fries. These both are good along with the some ice tea.

A local BBQ gem. I’m a regular here and I have tried just about everything on their menu. There is one little problem with that. The prices are high for a BBQ joint. However they do lots of marketing and if you compare with other BBQ places in the area it is close in price so not much we can do about that. Ask about their free lunch card program to save a few bucks in the long run. Also keep an eye on their Facebook page for specials like $ 6 Pork Sandwich Tuesdays. The food is absolutely delicious. They have a great signature sauce and I’m a huge fan of the whiskey sauce. My favorite meal items are the Georgia pork, sausage, ribs and the mac and cheese. The Redneck Reuben is just plain awesome. They have seating outdoors which is nice and they do well with carry out. The seating inside is not the best, but as long as people aren’t spending large amounts of time eating and socializing it shouldn’t be an issue. Parking is plentiful and has never been an issue for me. If you like beer I recommend checking them out on Facebook as they announce events on a regular basis. Like I said in the beginning, I’m a regular here. That’s because I LOVE some good BBQ. *This business is gun carry friendly.

This place is really bad… in a good way! I was first introduced to their que since they were a vendor at the recent Band, Brews and BBQ event at Old Town Manassas. Great selection with pulled pork, beef brisket and ribs. I had the two meat combo with collard greens and sweet potato fries… all delicious. They have reasonable prices as well. I also got a half rack of ribs to go… a half dozen meaty and tasty ribs… really flavorful. I did take out but I liked the sit down inside, they have a nice bar and an outside patio. The que is exceptional… my only suggestion would be more sauce selections; something on the hotter and spicier side. Looking forward to seeing them come to Battle Street in Old Town Manassas!
