You would be hard pressed to find a more delishious quiche and chocolate mint cookie than what is offered here. They also make dog biscuits!

So yummy! My mom and sister were in town last week, and we wanted to try somewhere new. I remembered someone had mention a place called «The Colored Egg» to me, so we decided to give it a try.
I am SO glad we did! Found a new favorite breakfast spot in Gainesville. Really sweet and quaint location, and even better food and prices! We had a lunch quiche, a giant cinnamon roll, a giant sticky bun, a banana and broiled coconut cake thing, and coffee all for $ 15!
We had plenty left over and ate it all over again for breakfast the next morning. A hidden gem in Gainesville! :)

This is a real hidden gem of a place in Gainesville. Owner and Chef Kathy creates the most wonderful assortment of quiches. Soups and baked good are quite good too.
Highly recommend. A great «Foodie Find».

Found this gem of a café /​bakery thru Unilocal.Have driven past it for years without knowing it was there! Now, I’m a fan!
The owner is the server (very friendly, calls regular customers by name and remembers their orders), the breads are fresh, cakes and brownies are delish, the quiche is normally one of the lunch specials, and the cookies are deadly! Found a Unilocal coupon for a free cookie with check-​in … what a great deal!
Yes, I really did sample just about everything … and still didn’t go over $ 20. A great bargain as well.
But don’t everybody go there at once … save room for me!

Fun little café in the middle of Gainesville hidden away from the main pathways of traffic. Today on the menu was pimiento cheese sandwich, delicious quiche. The cinnamon rolls looked great. I plan to return for a cinnamon roll and coffee. Small little area from inside seating seats maybe 8 – 10, outside seating for 8. Local place, very nice lady inside I will return soon.

A great little discovery thanks to Unilocal!I’ve been here a number of times and I’ve yet to come across an item that has disappointed. The stuffed breads are savory and delicious, the quiches are satisfying, and the sticky buns and cinnamon rolls are sizable, tasty and quite the value. I highly recommend it!

I can’t mess up the 5 star streak. This place is a gem. I stopped here on a cross country motorcycle trip when I found it on Unilocal.Totally worth finding this little hole in the wall place. People were nice (from Hillsdale, NY. another great place) and food is what homemade is all about. Go go go!!!

I have been addicted to this place every since i first discovered it in February. Daily specials that are incredible. Love it for both breakfast and lunch. Recently, for Easter, I got a quiche to share with my family and it was wonderful. Got some scones and muffins too and they all loved them. Also, Kathy catered a luncheon for me and it was wonderful — a variety of sandwiches (all freshly made that day), cookies, and a salad with a yummy raspberry dressing. You have got to try this place!

There are so many good things to say about The Colored Egg. The quiche is extremely fresh. There are a lot of choices to satify your sweet tooth. The brownies are moist. The peanut butter cookies are delish. A Keurig coffee maker is available to brew your own fresh cup of joe. Sticky buns and cinnamon rolls are addictive. Kathy is constantly coming up with new items to try. This is a true bakery… something Gainesville desperately needed.

Kathy is the best! A true chef & baker. She offers not only sweets but soups, quiche’s and sandwiches. She has daily specials & will special make anything your taste buds are desiring. I ordered several dozen cupcakes for a baby shower & everyone had a fit over them. Visit her early, her creations sell out. There is also a little dining area if you don’t want to take it to go. She has coffee & beverages also.
