Large shopping center in Gainesville, VA. This is a well built, gigantic shopping area with everything anyone would need: grocery store, clothing, sporting goods, restaurants, bars, hair stylists, movie theater, the list goes on. Truly a one stop shopping area. There is plenty of parking.

Gainesville’s #1 hot spot for dining, entertainment and shopping. The Virginia Gateway area consists of many plazas which have a huge variety of useful stores for day to day needs like Super Target, Lowe’s, Petsmart, and most importantly Starbucks. :D They recently expanded the shopping area to include a new section called the Virginia Promenade which has an outdoor water fountain where kids can play and a Regal Stadium theatre. Whatever you need you will be able to find here. :)

The new Promendade mixed-use development at Virginia Gateway will have 300,000 square feet of retail space once it’s all done. This location has been enhanced with the recent addition of the Regal Theaters and several new and coming restaurants. Namely, Smashburger, Bar Louie, Firebirds Wood Fired Grill & Nando Peri Peri. There is also a BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse coming but I’ve never tried one, so we’ll see about that. I really like that they have made an effort to keep it green by integrating the natural landscape, especially the pond behind the theater and the use of traffic circles rather than signal lights or four way stops. The plan also calls for an outdoor ‘Event Plaza’. I’m sure there will be more to come so this is just the beginning. There is a great deal of land yet to be developed.

The shops here are great — just half of them are so hard to get to because of all the traffic… if you are target, its hard to get to lowes across the street… This shopping center also attracts those that can’t drive and decide its okay to park in fire lanes and cause traffic jams trying to get in and out of here… Other than that… Great shopping center!
