Unprofessional salon. Went for a wash and blow dry. I do not let them flat iron because last time the damaged my hair smelled like it was burnt. After blow drying my hair straight the young lady offered to wrap my hair. It was late and I was just going to do it when I got home. Dafenny came by when I went to the counter to pay and asked me if I brought the hair pins with me and if not she had to charge me a dollar extra. Who charges for hairpins? I will never come here again.

I’m so sad I moved to Texas, because I loved it here! I’m home for the holidays and immediately booked an appointment! Great work ethic, friendly personalities — they are just the best :)

Ridiculously overcharged for a wash and set. I have never paid $ 70 for a simple blow dry. I made the mistake of not asking the price until after my hair was already done. If I had known the price in advance, I would of went right to Claudia’s dominican salon in Silver Spring; who charges me $ 50. The lady that washed my hair was too rough and pulled a lot of hair out when she was combing my hair. The stylist also burned my temple with the blowdryer, I now have a nasty burn mark. Overall, my hair did come out nice and I wish the prices were cheaper. Despite the roughness and burn, I liked my hair enough to go back if the prices were realistic. But since they aren’t, Ill keep going to Claudia’s.

I was overcharged. $ 45 for a blowout, flat iron, and trim, on hair that is already washed, conditioned, and blow dryed? And Tuesday was the day they have specials? Too much heat. How many times do you have to blow dry and flat iron hair? And they don’t put any heat protectant, or product to make the hair shine. Everybody was rolling out of that salon with dry looking hair. My stylist didn’t even crack a smile, even when she got tipped. Pros: The guys at the front were very nice. In fact all the staff were nice, besides my anti-social stylist. She wasn’t rude, just not very cordial. Also, I was immediately seen as a walk-in appointment. My stylist trimmed my ends nicely without snipping off too much. She took her time to make sure my edges were straightened.

Was impressed with the quickness. However, extremely unhappy with the prices. I went on a Tuesday when they supposedly have $ 10 off specials. I have medium length hair and VERY easy to style and they still charged me $ 55 for wash and blowout. I’ve never been charged more than $ 30 at a salon so i was very surprised with them. Will most likely not be returning.

A natural girls dream! I I went to Dafenny’s yesterday to get a wash and set because they were having a special($ 10 off wash and set). Their prices are reasonable and the $ 10 off made this the cheapest wash and set I have ever received. I was immediately greeted when I walked in and took to the back to be shampooed. As a thick haired, color treated natural, many Dominican salons do not want to roller set my hair or they do not take the time to gently detangle my hair. But not here! the woman who shamppoed my hair actually complimented my hair and its thickness! She was very sweet and patient and made me feel comfortable enough to practice my Spanish. She gently detangled my hair with a wide toothed comb and recommended that I try the reconstructor conditioner«Penetre». Oh my gosh that stuff was amazing! After I finished deep conditioning, the comb literally glided through my hair and was soooo soft. She was even able to use the fined toothed comb to roller set with little to no issues and practially NO shed hair. All of this took about 45 – 1 hour minutes. After drying, Dafenny started to blow me out. Although she used a good amount of heat to get my hair straight, she never went over any section more than 3 times and not once did I feel like the integrity of my hair was compromised. She also continued to impart moisture into my hair, spraying leave ins, oils etc; and yet my hair was STILL bouncy. Daffeny was absolutely wonderful, my hair is bone straight and she gave me an amazing trim while still maintaining my length. All in all the whole process took 2 ½ hours. I now have a place to go to whenever I get the straight hair itch.

Was in the DMV area for the 4th of July holiday and needed to get my hair done. I searched for a place close to my hotel and Dafenny’s came up. I was very pleased with how my hair turned out; everyone was very nice and I got through pretty quickly. If I’m back in the area I will definitely visit again.

I love the energy and kind nature of the owner, and I love Dominican hair salon quality, so I’ve been there a few times now until I found a closer salon(the place is quite a bit far north from where I live or work). I bring my own hair relaxer product, since I’ve had such good experience with it for years. Dafenny has done a great job with my hair each time, that’s what I come for! Very little product use, nothing excessive weighing my hair down. She also trimmed my hair perfectly, without taking too much off(always a fear of mine). I did once try using one of their in-house relaxers though, as they have more than one, but it left my hair terribly dry and without any healthy shine. I went back to mine and encourage her to consider adding it to their options as well, however maybe what’s good for my hair is different for another… you can always bring you’re own if you agree, but that’s why I knocked off a star. I also appreciate that I’ve been in and out when I’ve come evenings, with friendly service, and no ridiculous lengthy time here as I have other things to do. I think the place is worth checking out!

I’ve been a client of Dafenny’s for years! Before she owned this shop; I went to her at another local shop where she was the lead stylist. Her service has consistently been excellent! My natural hair’s texture is curly, wavy, yet fine. It does not take alot for my hair to get straight. She manages my hair perfectly. I have yet to find anyone who can ROCK my pin curls as Dafenny does! ;-) Staff are friendly, service is great. –VERYHAPPY Regular Customer

I have been a loyal customer of Dafenny’s for over 4 years. I always receive a warm greeting on each visit. There is rarely a wait and service is excellent. Dafenny goes out of her way to accomodate her customer and provide exceptional service. I have recommended this salon to a number of my friends who are now loyal customers.

This place is some crap. I read the angry reviews about this place and still decided to go. It’s all true. I didn’t care that they weren’t friendly. I’m here to get my hair done. Don’t care for your hospitality. But the lady who did my hair was yapping away the whole time taking her sweet time. It has never taken 30 min to wash my hair. And i don’t know how long to roller set my hair. Most stylists can wash and set my hair in 35 min tops. It was almost an hour before I got in the dryer. And she kept wetting my hair while setting it so my hair took extra long to dry. Either she was new or just lazy. I’ve been to plenty of Dominican salons. Nothing like this. Oh and I’m not particular about my hair. This lady broke my hair off so bad because she didn’t know how to properly detangle. This was just the most bizarre experience. Dominicans have always done my hair and this was just one mistake after another. And they are soooo overpriced. Such a waste. I won’t tell anyone to not come because your experience maybe different with another stylist but the overall mood here is just too lax. It already takes forever at a salon why not work efficiently and not break peoples hair off!

This is not my normal hair salon — but I had to go somewhere close to my home. However, I definitely won’t go back… after going to hair salons for more than 20 years and for the last 15 years mostly using Dominican hair salons — this just didn’t rack up to the others. I arrived to an adequate greeting and then I signed in and waited. Normally I’m accustomed to being greeted, welcoming me to the salon, and asking me more about my service. 20 minutes into the wait — I was asked what I was getting(it was also marked on the sign in sheet) and led to a back room. This is ABSOLUTELY the first time I’ve ever had staff put chemicals into my hair that isn’t the LICENSED cosmetologist. After receiving the chemical and wash — of which I must say the young lady did a great job — although I had to remind her several times to speed it up. I had started my service by saying my scalp was very sensitive(not a great mix with a perm, sensitive scalp, burning, and needing color) — most cosmetologist check the hair and make recommendations… not here. When my hair dried I stated that I didn’t want a blow-out — it was windy outside and knew I was going home to only travel today. The final icing for me — to say don’t go back — was that the Dafenny(the licensed cosmetologist) had left the salon for the evening — with the barber, two staffers in the back(that barely spoke English), and one customer that had just received a perm and was getting color added. AHHH — just not a place for me.

I went to Daffeny’s the first time today. The products are not good quality as a result my hair was limp and dry. I will never go back there again!

Loveeeee this place! I’m 100% natural and wear weaves and braids a lot but I always come in when I need a wash/deep condition/blow-out and a trim. They are so welcoming and treat you like family. I always leave with clean bouncy hair!!! Great price and worth it.

I love this salon! It’s out of my way, but I still make it a point to come in every 2 weeks. Daffeny and her staff are great! They all speak to you and listen to you! If you want your hair done a certain way, they always strive to make you happy. I’ve been going to Daffeny for over 5 years and I completely trust her with my hair.

Not happy with last visit. Did not like the way I was treated. Went back for second coloring because previous color was bright orange. Went back to have it corrected but still had to pay. Had keratin treated done two months ago at same shop. Owner will not use keratin shampoo to wash your hair unless you bring your own. These treatments are not cheap and using regular shampoo weakens it. The place I went to before was a little more expensive but you get what you pay for. I rather pay more for quality. Will never go again.

I found Dafennys by coincidence while still doing my search of a reputable Dominican salon within the area. My search is over! I walked in and was immediately acknowledged by all three people that were working that day in the salon. Not being ignored? Check! I was immediately sat down and hair washed, rollers set and blown out — which was great. They work as a team, everyone speaks to you AND you end up leaving the place with luxurious hair? Love it.

I go here every two weeks and I don’t have to do anything to my hair if I wrap it at night. It stays bouncy and straight and I get compliments every single week. I’m so glad she has more help now on Mondays and Tuesdays since it was starting to be too packed in there because of the specials. This is my go to place for a Dominican blow out.
