Went to Galena on Presidents’ Day and a lot of the shops were not open. We were so hungry, as soon as we pulled up we were saw their sidewalk sign for BREADPUDDING and we were sold! We got sandwiches and the cream of mushroom soup, very very delicious. Came with chips instead of fries. The highlight of our meal was definitely the bread pudding. OMG will definitely come back if we visit Galena again. Owner was also our server, very nice, friendly, polite and proud of her establishment.

First time here, and definitely not my last. From the outside a person might not think that much of the place, but the food is amazing. Corn beef sandwich was fantastic along with the chips on the side. I’m not a huge fan of bread pudding, I split it with my friends, and it was AMAZING! They only had one server so you need to be patient. She was very nice and handled both the tables and the bar without showing stress.

A standard stop on our annual visit. Blue cheese and kale soup is awesome. And I’m not a fan of kale. Chips are wonderful. Sandwiches good. Low key spot that shouldn’t be missed!

Loved this place! Looks like it’s just a bar, but it’s so much more! We came in at 6:30 on a Thursday. Slow night, but it gave us a chance to speak to Dave. Super nice! Evidently he and his mother operate the restaurant and mom does much of the cooking. The bleu cheese soup was heavenly; served with a little chuck of fresh bread. We split the«Dave» sandwich and it was wonderful as well. Comes with horseradish and we asked for that on the side. Even the chips were tasty. Might have been a parmesan flavor. Yum! Had the Horney Goat Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter beer. Dessert in a can. Heard from other customers that Dave makes mean apple, blueberry, pumpkin shots from scratch, but we didn’t partake. Looks like a little hometown bar, but don’t miss this place for food. Reasonably priced, fresh, delicious food.

After a year in this little burg, I can safely say that my favorite meal still is a generous classic martini, a bowl of Maribeth’s cream of mushroom soup, with French bread on the side for sopping up those last creamy bits. Here, they remember you. That’s why it’s always a pleasure to stop at Embe. Best casual dining in town, bar none.

The cream of bleu cheese soup was an unexpected culinary treat. The pulled chicken sandwich was the best chicken sandwich that I have ever had. The atmosphere was good and the staff friendly, but the food was incredible.

We went in for light meal of salad, which was a good choice. Then our light meal resolve crumbled when we saw the bread pudding. It was fantastic! Best I have ever had. In fact we went back the next night and had sandwiches and more bread pudding. Sandwiches were good too. Casual atmosphere with good service. Only complaint is that the music was a little too loud.

Embe was recommended by an employee of another restaurant. We were told that they had«the best Bread Pudding», so of course I had to try it! I’ve had Bread Pudding all over the world, I make my own with a Bourban sauce! So, besides mine and my Mom’s, Embe has the best Bread Pudding I’ve ever had, sorry New Orleans! Light, fluffy, rich and priced so low for such an outstanding dessert! If you like BP you won’t be disappointed! Can’t wait to try their new Flat Breads!

I’ll easily rate 5 stars based on the location, what they offer and the staff. Visiting Embe is something we do every single time we stop in Galena. The staff is wonderful and the drinks are great. Staff there are always personable and a pleasure to chat with. The music they have is usually quite nice to listen to and I haven’t had anything to complain about at all with what they have to offer. They enjoy your company, invite you to come back for music, and are very attentive to your needs. The staff are so friendly and it feels like the neighborhood bar that belongs in Galena. The fit is just right. I’m a big fan of their sandwiches, bleu cheese and chips and the overall ambiance here. The portions aren’t huge and I feel like I should thank them for it: P It seems like it’s all too often to go places where you have too much food to eat and have to take to-go plates or walk around feeling like you’re a glutton for eating as much as you did… I don’t take Embe for granted. Honestly… if it closed and we had to visit Galena without going there, the experience just wouldn’t be the same for us.

We only had drinks after having dinner elsewhere. Drinks were very good and they had a nice selection of cocktails. Music was fun. Service was wonderful and we felt like regulars. We would go back to try a meal there.

LOVE this place. Sometimes they have music, which is always great, but the atmosphere is always cozy and the owner and his mother are wonderful. Best beer selection in town! Great place for sandwiches too, my favorite is the Screaming Embe. YUMMMMMM

Great food, drinks and customer service! Everything is homemade by a nice lady in the kitchen. Got a turkey sandwich salad and chips and split it. Serving size is large so it was more than enough. The chocolate martini is good too. Had a great time here!

STOPREADINGREVIEWS! You’ve found your place to go!!! I love this place… easily the best place in Galena, at least to drink and have a snack. Is it for tourists? Yeah, probably, but 1) Im a tourist, 2) who cares its still good and 3) shut up! It’s one of the few places open on Main Street that are open late. It’s small and dark but even crowded still intimate and decorated nicely. The owner is a super nice guy and his Mom probably makes the best soups since the Duke of Sope invented it in 897 A.D.(Or something like that). The Missus had the mushroom soup, which was delicious and I had the bleu cheese soup, which was so good it makes other soups feel like they failed their parents. It was truly something else. I bought 2 more containers to bring home with me. As for sandwiches, I got the Embe, which was pulled chicken, pepperjack cheese, a drizzle of balsamic vinegar and pico de gallo. The bun was perfect but the sandwich was kinda dry. I wished it had more balsamic and I think it suffered because i left off the pico, which I’m not a fan of. I blame me more than the sandwich. The missus had The Lisa, which is roast beef with parmesean and horseradish mustard. That was a delicious sandwich too, if you like horseradish. This place knows how to do bleu cheese. We always get the bleu cheese and chips and the cheese is always incredibly thick with crumbles that would probably put your eye out theyre so big. I might not go here for dinner, but for a drink, or lunch or snack you’re really missing out if you DON’T go here. I’d be here all the time if I didn’t live 120 miles away…

Amazing food and great prices. Best place in Galena by far. The pulled pork is something to write home about. The restaurant is nicely decorated and has a good feel to it.

Great beer selection, astonishingly attentive bartenders, and they can make a lovely drink on the explanation of the basic ingredients. Quite a pleasant discovery on our trip. It’s hard to feel welcome in a tourist town, but this place is lovely.

Stopped by Embe for lunch after our trolley tour. Excellent atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food. I wanted something light and was very happy the waiter would accomodate my request for a Almost Famous pulled chicken without the bun. They presented the sandwich on a nice bed of greens — very good. My friends enjoyed the mushroom soup, cilantro chicken salad, and roast beef sandwich. The maui chips are a nice addicting addition!

We were staying in the Desoto House across the street. After 6pm in Galena, the only thing you are going to find open are bars and restaurants. We decided we didn’t want to sit around the hotel anymore so we went to Embe. We had eaten prior to arriving, so we just wanted to have some drinks. Both of us are martini fans and they had a nice looking selection on the board. We tried a couple, but our favorite when we were there was the«Fat Elvis». It’s a Peanut butter and banana martini. Fantastic! Loved it! The prices on the Martini’s ran about $ 10.00 each when we were there. I’ll let you judge if that’s high or low. I thought it was average for what was being served. The place itself is kind of small. The bar takes up most of the room, but there are some tables in the front and along one of the walls. They have DJ’s and live music at times, but due to the size, it gets loud. I mean LOUD. We were at a small table with another couple and we could barely hear each other. It was that bad. Just be prepared when you go that you may have to yell at each other. We enjoyed our visit and I’m sure we’ll go back.
