Simply Elegant Boutique

Cute place! My mom and I went in there during our stay in Galena this past weekend and were helped by Ruth, she was super nice… I actually wasn’t planning on buying anything but found an adorable hat that I wore the rest of the trip!

I’m actually pretty surprised at the poor reviews for this super cute boutique in downtown Galena. While the service wasn’t overtly friendly, I found the selection, the sales, and the vibe pretty great.
There aren’t too many boutiques in this immediate area that cater to the 21 – 40 subset — most of the clothing locales are aimed at the 40 – 65 demo. And I get it, you cater your offerings to the folks you see the most. Therefore, I was pleased with the cool brands I spied at Simply Elegant: Free People, Yosi Samra, Bed Stu, Black Orchid, Bella Dahl, Joe’s Jeans, Velvet and more. Items were organized and displayed nicely and I was most impressed with their Labor Day weekend sale — an extra 50% off sale, which came in quite handy to pick up a few pairs of Yosi Samra flats on the cheap.
I (and my to-​be-​outfitted feet) am glad I stopped in and shopped a bit. On the customer service side, Simply Elegant could certainly step up their game a bit but overall it’s a cute boutique to peruse if you find yourself in downtown Galena!

Very disappointed at the customer service. Bought a shirt here, but didn’t notice the large «burn» Mark on the back. The sales person kept saying or was normal, but it didn’t look normal to me, my mom or friend. Very unhelpful and not a good place to shop.

As previous reviewers state, this is pretty expensive and really limited choices. I haven’t found the staff to be overly friendly or overly rude.

OK, so my review is based on the fact that I got a FAB dress for a FAB price that I continue to receive compliments on! All that being said, I had the distinct impression that were I not to go into the store with my friend who was carrying a «TANO» bag, that I would not have received the service I did. This fact was demonstrated over and over again even after their initial «pounce-​gush» over my friend with her bag, they mainly «helped» her help me decide on the dress even though she is pregnant and the store does not carry any maternity clothing… The store was cute, employees were around — mainly posing, but this is a resort sort of town — not a major metropolitan area, so my expectations aren’t that high to begin with.
It is what is is and they do have some great items — that could be gotten anywhere.
