This motel has been newly remodeled. We weren’t looking at paying $ 100 a night for somewhere, so we tried GuestHouse out. The room smelled a bit humid, but no smoke smell, and it was clean. The locks on the door work, and it was not too loud. There is a train not too far away, but it didn’t bother us at all! The bed was firm but comfortable, and the pillows were fluffy. Now for the ugly: the ceiling looks like it got forgotten in the update, and has been painted over. It’s peeling in a few corners, but you get what you pay for. It didn’t bother our sleep, so we didn’t mind too much. The breakfast was sparse; a few pieces of fruit, some bread to toast and packaged pastries, and individual cereals as well as coffee. Again, what we saved on staying somewhere higher end was worth it. We took our happy, rested selves to Cracker Barrel about a mile up the road. I see so many reviews that nitpick, expecting a motel like this to compete with a Hilton or the like. If you go in, knowing that you’re not staying in a fancy hotel, you’ll enjoy yourself. Thank you, Guesthouse, for a restful evening!
