Dimly lit pub with a long bar and jukebox. The bartender is friendly(can’t make mixed drinks worth a sh*t), but the male bartender in the conjoined pub called Old Cellar Bar makes excellent mixed drinks. The atmosphere wasn’t bad.

I’ve never had a bad experience here, the drinks are good, as are the prices and the staff. I just don’t feel very at home in the atmosphere. It’s very dimly lead and whenever I try to go, I always find myself venturing next-door to OCB. It is a good meeting point or midway stop for bar hoppers. As I mentioned, never a bad experience but I’m simply not blown away.

I have to say, I loved this place. I’m from Iowa, but my husband is here for business. We got into town around 930 and we weren’t sure where to go for a couple drinks. We went over to the strand and found Molly’s. Our bartender was a quiet girl(but she definitely knew what she was doing!), I wish I could remember her name. I ordered a gin and tonic, and she used a jigger! Awesome touch. Keeps bar costs in line and makes sure people don’t get over served because their alcohol is the right measurement. Now onto the best part. My husband loves margaritas. He’s kind of a snob about it. So he asked about their tequilas and asked if she could make him a margarita.(He was hesitant, because sometimes in dive bars it’s hard to get a good margarita!) but she did a phenomenal job. Perfect pour of tequila(thank you jiggers!) and triple sec. Then she hand squeezed 3 limes into it, added orange juice(most don’t do this!) then the sour mix. Perfection!!! You go girl! Only had 2 drinks each. The bill was only $ 19 and we left $ 20 for a tip. Our bartender was great. Smiled. Always made sure we were ok. Paid attention to us, even with other regulars(or co-workers) at the bar. Sometimes it’s easy to feel like an outcast with regulars at the bar, but not the case this time! Next time we are down here, I want to go back!

Having visited Murphy’s Irish Pub directly before this place(or as i prefer to call it, the shittiest bar in Galveston, which is saying a lot), this place was fantastic. Bartender greeted us as soon as we walked in and I had a cold beer in my hand before I could even sit down. The only detractor was the indoor smoking policy, which left me smelling like an ashtray by the time I left. But hey, it’s a bar… and the service was great(on a Thursday night) so I can’t really complain that much. I would visit here again.

Hit this place up waiting on a show at the opera house across the street. Dead on a saturday night should explain it all…

Touristy. Bartenders looked tired, but were nice enough. Beer selection was okay. «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» But I imagine this spot is pretty awesome during Mardi Gras. I’m sure I’d have a whole different opinion if I came during that time.

Went with friends during a day trip to Galveston. The place smelled like dirty mop water, and there was no one inside. We stayed there and opened up one of the window wall things at the front and were able to watch as everyone else peeked in and then went off the other bars. Maybe it gets crowded at night, who knows. Overall, my experience was pleasant, but I had plenty of people to keep me entertained and engaged. I don’t think I would go back.

People of Galveston. Where were you on St Patty’s Day?! I know it was a Sunday but to be 3 out of 10 people at this bar was just crazy! We came to Molly’s with high hopes of a good time. There were not any specials or anything, and I thought this was an Irish bar! The bartenders were nice enough but we just had a couple of drinks and left it at that. I really like the nice wood interior. They also have a jukebox and pool table for your entertainment. The bathrooms were nothing to brag about, they still felt sticky from the night before. I will probably be back because I like dive bars, but it’s not at the top of my list.

Not as cool since the entire staff turned over. They do have a good selection of beer on tap though. And you can still smoke inside, so they’ve got that. Very dark, lots of wood, and has most pub-like atmosphere on the island.

Whenever I do hit up a bar in Galveston, I always end up here at Molly’s. The place is chill and I like it. It’s dimly lit and you kinda feel like you’re in a cave? but with a bar in it. :) Right next door is a somewhat of a mini club, I believe. So if you’ve been drinkin a lot of whisky and feelin a little frisky. head on over there and do up the dancefloor. What else, it seemed like everyone was taking shots here last night. Bartenders must make em’ strong! That’s always fun. The place does have a juke box. It’s great up until avsomeone tries to pay an extra dollar to skip your song. Ha. Great songs to choose from. Have fun choosing your favorite jams!

i picked this place randomly, the old wooden look caught my attention so instead of driving back to houston during rush hour, i went for a couple of beers. im amazed, a pint of guiness for $ 4.50. life is good. they dont serve any food and there was no music, radio or jukebox playing.(just tvs tunned into the red socks/indians game) so it was really lonely there. i was there from 6 to 8pm and only saw two more people come in. would i go back? i dont know, if i could find guiness for $ 4.50 somewhere more animated in galveston… probably not.
