It’s fun for a trashy drunken evening I’m Galveston. Here’s the thing though: they have a dress code that allows cut off shirts and tank tops for men, but doesn’t allow white tshirts. Think about that. When asking the bouncer why(we thought he was joking with us for a solid 3 minutes), he said that had some issues with some«ghetto people» in the place that would wear that. They aren’t even trying to not be blatantly racist. Ahahahaha. Seriously??? My friend and another person we watched actually went back and changed out of a white t to I guess(!?) to appear less«ghetto». They might as well have a sign on the door that says«we would prefer if those kinds of Black people didn’t come here, but we can’t say that» ahahaha. It’s not surprising, but they really aren’t even trying. Oh, and it’s sticky and looks like you’re inside an episode of spongebob in there.

This is a fun and popular place to eat. The portion sizes were huge! The fish and chips were great. We sat on the 2nd floor balcony. Great view — too bad there’s so many birds though! We would eat there again!

The Spot used to have fantastic burgers. In fact, the turkey burger was one of the best on the island. However, this is no longer the case. Now, all of the burgers served here are quite mediocre. The buns are homemade and delicious which is probably the only reason I am giving a three star review. It is the patties that used to be so much better. The spot has a great location on the beach, and there is a spectacular view up at Rum Shack. This could be fun for those visiting the island. However, if you’re looking for a great burger, than this place isn’t it anymore.

Good food and selections. They were accommodating with the side choices which was very nice. Fish and chips and burgers were all good. Kids loved the shakes.

I would like this place a lot more if tourists would quit encouraging their 6 – 7 year olds to throw food to the pigeons outside. Probably 4 different times my meal has been disrupted due to this. Without the pigeon whisperers, eating outside is a really nice view and atmosphere! Food is all fried pretty much and I mostly go for the environment or to get a drink upstairs after, but I would recommend to anyone who likes burgers or fried things. Great staff, always clearing tables quickly and working hard.

Great food, location, drinks. great all around! This place was soooo good, if you are unsure of what you want to eat, get ANYTHING shrimp. I was a bit skeptical if this place would offer good seafood but as soon as you enter, you immediately see that there’s no doubt about it, you are in the right spot; hence the name. Do yourself a favor and also try their Pina coladas(served in a coconut) and their Mac and cheese, you’ll be satisfied beyond belief.

The Spot is the«go-to» place in Galveston. I have been here many times just because friends always HAVE to go when we are in the area, definitely not by choice. If you’re looking for a help yourself restaurant The Spot is it. You definitely will not see an employee walking around checking on you. First of all, you have to wait about half an hour just to order your food then another half an hour to find a place to sit. In all that’s an hour of waiting for basically fried bar food. I usually always order the fried shrimp which costs about double what it should cost. I recommend the burgers more than anything else on the menu. Also, don’t be fooled by the dessert bar you pass as you’re waiting in line. Everything tastes as if it has been sitting there for days. The«fresh» cookies are very tough.

Cluster f*** is the word to describe this place. First the hostess was way too busy talking to her boyfriend to help us(being our first time we had know idea how this place worked) finally placed our order and my friend got his platter in 5 mins, mine in 15. Food was cold(minus the fried fish) besides being cold it wasn’t that great. Very chaotic environment. Maybe it’s just not my type of place to eat. Don’t think I’ll be back.

Bonita was very helpful and attentive with service, and picture taking skills. Great casual atmosphere goes well with the island vibe. Fish Tacos were terrifically paired with The Spot’s own brew. I look forward to returning for Marg’s in the lounge at night when its cooler, but suspect I’ll need to show up early to secure one of the better seating areas for my entourage.

We had Spicy Shrimp Tacos & Blackened Tacos and they were good. We ate on the second floor patio and the pigeons were all over the place. The family behind us left and the pigeons swarmed the table with no pity. Not a pleasant experience to watch at a restaurant. A message to the management, please do something about the birds problem. See picture.

Stopped by here to have some food while in this area. The scenery is nice and the food is good. Ordered the seafood sampler or something that had every type of seafood fried. Everything tasted good and they had a vegetable buffet where you can get sides for your seafood so you aren’t eating fried food only which is very nice. Overall it is a nice place to grab some food while on a walk.

Not impressed. My wife and I and 5 other friends tried this place on May 4, we ordered first, all our friends orders came out in approx 7 min, my wife and I haven’t even got our appetizer chips and salsa yet. I went to the counter to ask, they said, your appetizer will be out in a few min. I asked, why do my chips and salsa take 20 min longer than all my friends full meals, I got no explanation, just some shrugs and after another 5 min I got my chips and salsa. The meals took another 12 min for a total of 32 minutes, while all my friends have finished their plates way before our appetizer came out.

The food wasn’t the greatest, more like average. Their salmon taco was good. Their shrimp taco was ok. The waffle fries were good. They serve burgers and fast food seafood. They have a good selection of desserts and tons of seating. We got a spot outside overlooking the ocean which made up for the average food.

This place has a great location and great prices for what they offer. Their hamburgers are yummy, their shrimp po’boys are amazing, and they have waffle fries! The view is great from the patio and the self-service system works really well. They have a vegetable buffet for your burger fixings similar to Fuddruckers and drinks are self-service, too. They also have an amazing dessert/bakery side where you can get scoops of icecream, a slice of cake, or even a chocolate dipped slice of pecan pie! They have two restrooms. One is upstairs and one is downstairs so that is also quite nice. During peek seasons there is a line out the door but due to the quick service and kitchen, it goes pretty quick!

The view is awesome and the servers are pretty friendly. Just stopped here for drinks and the beer list was just okay. This is a great place to hang out with friends! Even on a Friday afternoon the place was packed, leading me to wonder if people in Galveston have jobs or anything. I didn’t eat any food but looking at the tables of neighbors, there were numerous fried options. There are lots of birds trying to get food if you’re sitting outside and the pigeons are fearless(not to mention disgusting). Great place to hang out and watch the brown waves rolling in.

It’s touristy, it’s busy, but still a winner. For the wife, a great shrimp po-boy, and for me, a veggie burger or Cobb salad. Somehow, it’s fun. There’s ample outside seating in a screened-in upper story patio. Don’t expect anything from the service, but you will receive ample, hot servings of delicious seafood and burgers and a fresh buffet of sandwich fixings. Kid’s cups are very cute so feel free to ask for some whether or not you have kids! The Spot sells ice cream, cake, and other baked goods by the entrance, too, and they also provide a complimentary brownie sundae for birthdays.

4.5 stars… The Spot is on the Seawall amongst about 5 other bars/restaurants. First off it’s upstairs and facing the water. I believe it has more options in casual real lunch/dinner food than just a bar with bar type food. At least that was our conclusion from reading the outside posted menus. Also The Spot has a full bar with a happy hour in the bar right across. They have different liquor/alcohol licenses. If you come during happy hour the beer is cheaper across at The Spot’s full service bar. Their full service bar displays a different name on the outside but it’s all the same place. On to the food. They serve mostly burgers, seafood, some Cajun food, salads, ice cream and a few misc other entrees. I ordered the stuffed crab jalapeño appetizer. I rec’d four really large stuffed 5 star crab jalapeños. So delicious!!! Would highly recommend them. I also ordered the fried fish but with onion rings. The fish was super fresh tasting and delish. The onion rings were barely warm to cold and sucked. The coleslaw was very good. My dining partner had a mushroom burger and waffle fries. Both were excellent. The waffle fries are the way to go. Don’t bother with the onion rings. Got coronas for $ 2 each from their full service bar across from them during HH. You can bring your beer or food over to either place. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Parking can get crowded. We circled around twice and found a spot. Great place to get casual quality beach food! Also great area to bar hop if you’re into that! Very party mode with all the bars just steps away. Probably a good pick up area :)! Unilocal Review #341

I absolutely love this place! I love eating on the patio upstairs. You must get the coconut shrimp with the pineapple dipping sauce that comes with it. Beware of the birds but they have a lot on contraptions that keep them away. This place is made with a bunch of different bars, I really want to check them out! Their pina coladas come in a coconut which is so cute! I have heard at popular nights there are cover charges to get in which is insane! I have heard their black bean burger is good for the vegetarians out there!

My review is only for the bar, as I haven’t eaten here anytime recently and since I’m old, my memory sucks and I have no recollection of the food. One of my team members and I stopped in for a drink after a really long(and somewhat boring) class on how to deal with difficult people … we clearly needed a drink and this is what my friend chose. We had to show ID to go upstairs … now, as I just stated, I am old and do not look 21(31, maybe … LOL). Is there something magical about the upstairs? Does something happen up there once it gets dark? It was really just a bar with tables, much like any restaurant has. Anyhow … I ordered some sort of cucumber vodka concoction and while I got a really good buzz off of it, it tasted like watery cucumbers. Meh. We left after one drink because we were both tired. Not sure I would ever come here for a drink again.
