This place is outstanding. We’ve been here a couple of times now and the food is fresh, homemade and delicious. Pina, the owner, not only prepares a thoughtful menu, she clearly takes pride in ensuring that her customers are pleased with their experience. As incredible as the food is, the service may be its equal. Anastasia waited on us both times we dined at Trattoria LaVignia and she provided excellent service.

Excellent seafood stuffed shells with vodka sauce. Nice starter salad. Fabulous homemade pasta. Tiramisu is delicious.

Great food, bad presetations. NOMOREZINFANDELWHY? Management lies about wine availability. No ports. However they will make the food the way you want it. They seem to have a problem keeping stock. but oh well still a great place. Just don’t get your hopes up.

Wow! Excellent house made pasta and perfectly cooked octopus. The sauces we had with the veal and chicken-delicious. This made the meal. Reservations seem important to the restaurant because it is the first thing we got asked by someone who seemed to be the owner after walking in at around 5pm on a Saturday to a mostly empty restaurant. Funny enough we actually made a reservation for 5pm on a Saturday-seems silly being so early, right? Would recommend this though because it was packed not too much later. The service was lovely-the waitress was attentive and knowledgeable about both the menu and wine list. I’m all about the food, but great service can really make a meal special. Great music too-loooove opera. The only drawback was a three-person group wanted to combine our table with the one next to us while we were eating. Kinda awkward since we were eating currently mid-entrée at the table, ya know? The hostess and waitress seemed to handle the funny request to clear out both occupied window tables by seating the 3 folks at the empty table right next to us instead. The situation was actually loud –so hard not to notice. It was uncomfortable for a bit with someone at the oddly miffed table saying how upset they were about no window table and saying the word«b$$ch» loudly-sad but I guess weird/funny in the end. Overall-the restaurant has little control of fellow dinners’ behavior –so no harm there.

I liked this place! Came here for dinner with my coworker while staying in town during the week. The place is small and quaint, but comfortable. Staff was friendly and attentive. The food menu was limited to a page, but everything(including the noodles) appeared to be fresh and homemade. I ordered the ravioli stuffed with crab and cuttlefish and although it came with a tomato sauce, my server let me switch it to the mushroom cream sauce for no extra charge. My coworker ordered the pasta with fresh tomatoes, garlic, and basil. Both dishes came with a side salad with oil and vinegar. Food was served promptly and very tasty. Portions were also decent size, and our server brought bread and oil for dipping with our food. I was pleased with this place and would definitely come back, if ever in the area again.

Limited menu at lunch especially for a vegeterian, but it’s an Italian Restaurant so I am sure they can whip something up. Great service and atmosphere

An authentic Italian experience on the island! I enjoyed the salmon, which came with asparagus and zucchini. My dining companion had the veal scaloppine, which came with homemade pasta(yum!). We were both surprised when the waitress brought out a salad for each of us, because this was not listed on the menu as coming with the main course. The salad had some sort of oil and vinegar dressing, which was good, but I prefer my dressing on the side. There were also what appeared to be oranges or grapefruit in the salad, but they were not very ripe and were tough to chew. The main dishes were both delicious. Since I had made a reservation and commented that we were celebrating a birthday, I had hoped that they would bring out a special dessert or at least say happy birthday, but they did not. But overall, this was a good experience for authentic Italian dining in Galveston.

We live in Galveston and have been here several times. First — the food is wonderful. Have enjoyed everything we have ever ordered. Second — there is no maitre’d or anyone to greet you at the door. You either wait for someone or walk out. Doesn’t seem they care. Third — service is horrible. Waited 15 minutes to take wine order, another 30 minutes for wine; no bread served. Finally took dinner order — 40 minutes for food! Waitress never came to ask if we needed anything, no one pours wine once on the table. No buss staff. Walked to front — open kitchen and asked where was food. Cook yells she only has two hands! Not fussing at chef, where is the damn wait staff! Waitress never came back to ask if we needed anything, water, etc. Had to ask for check. No thank you — no nothing! BTW: had 7:30 reservations, on arrival stated we needed to be out by 9pm as we had another venue to attend. Staff is very indifferent to customers at least our waitress, who we unfortunately get every time. Have to re-think going back as there are wonderful restaurants in Galveston who know how to treat customer.

Food– The food was delicious. I had lobster ravioli. My friend had the lasagna, and my other two friends at the table ordered the crab ravioli. The crab ravioli wasn’t as good, but it was still yummy. The bread was fresh, and our calamari appetizer was spot on. Wine– Oh, and we got a $ 18.00 bottle of wine that was massive. That’s an awesome deal. Prices– Plan on paying about $ 16 – 25 for your entrée. Service– The service was not very good. We made reservations but weren’t given a table until 30 minutes after we arrived. Then, it took our waiter forever to come over with water. We ordered an appetizer and wine. We had our appetizer before we even got our table bread. To be fair, the waiter did apologize and the cool came out to greet us. I would come back here. If you plan on dining here, be prepared for delicious food but sub par service.

I have eaten here twice. The first time shortly after they opened. At that time, I thought it was the best Italian food the island has had in a decade. My wife again ate there during Artwalk last week. It was crowded but we were seated in a few minutes. I had the bone-in ribeye and my wife had the chicken piccata. The ribeye was cooked properly but the grade of meat was at best«select.» The chicken piccata tasted off. I suspect the meat may have been bad or the butter rancid. In any event, my wife got sick from this meal when we got home. My tasting of the meat alone caused a very upset stomach. Perhaps because of the crowd, something went awry. We will try them one more time but will judge them by their lasagna or other staple fare.
