this hibachi place copy same like Fuji but not very thing as nice as Fuji. The food wasn’t that good and very small size. I had a very bad experience with the bar drink, I ordered a mango mojito, but it came out like a berry taste instead of mango taste. The bartender had to make me a new one. however, the second one came tastes like water mix with mango juice no alcohol. very disappoint, and will never go again.

Although the food deserves a higher rating the 3 stars is due to the lack of good customer service. My BF and I have been visiting Kodo for a long time and the first time we visited the restaurant we fell in love with the quality of their sushi. We have tried the hibachi but the sushi here is really the best! The owners of this place are humble and pleasant you can tell they take pride in the food that they make. However, I would like to take the time to comment on the unfortunate that may one day just be the cause of this place closing its doors. The restaurant has little to no staff. The staff seem to lack the experience of serving in a seated restaurant. The carry-out his how this place started but management must understand that in a seated restaurant you need waitresses and waiters who are there to greet you and take your orders. In all the time we have been here we have never been greeted at the beautiful entrance that they have. Taking our orders always takes longer than usual and the restaurant is always empty. We almost always have to seek staff for a refill or to order more food. My tip to the owners is hire a staff manager and new staff that have some experience! I’m sad to say this but I don’t know if we will re-visit. We will just have to find another place that makes good quality sushi.

Soooo this place is way trendy and super delish. .but…the service is not so great. The server is very short, kinda rude and sorta pushy. The people next to me complained because the server was being so rude to the table over from them. The server then argued that she«didn’t do anything wrong«. Customer service is dead in many places. I personally don’t mind if people are rude, just bring me my food and don’t spit in it. Just a heads up if you are huge on customer service this may not be the place for you! Still give it 4 starts based on the food, presentation and atmosphere

Went here on a Wednesday for hibachi. It was pretty dead inside but the atmosphere was nice. The hibachi itself was good as in the cook doing the tricks and the food. The waitresses on the other hand who take the order and bring drinks were very slow and didn’t really come over. We all had to seek them out if we wanted refills or anything really. Prices were good I think it was 30 percent off sushi on Wednesday so we did end up getting some sushi. All the food was good but we did get some fried ice cream for checking in and that was not good at all.

The sushi here is awesome yet a little pricey. They have a great selection as well. If you go inside and get the hibachi, it’s not as good but all of the wait staff is pretty nice. Unfortunately the place always seems to be slow, likely because of the location, but the slowness also allows for a nicer and quieter experience than the noisy bustle of nearby Fuji.

the food was absolutely amazing — gorgeous, mature atmosphere. Great hidden gem. I HATE the parking situation but once you get past that, everything else makes up for that inconvenience. The food was excellent and the drinks were even better. Went for my cousin’s birthday dinner and everyone was pleased with what they ordered. Blows Sakura away.

We went here for a friends birthday last month and really enjoyed ourselves. We went on a Friday night and the place wasn’t too busy but they were very accommodating and the chef was very entertaining while he cooked. The portions were large and the saki we tried was good. They brought out fried ice cream for the birthday girl and had them put on dragon masks which added a little laughter to the night. The waitress we had was a little slow about getting back to us with our drink orders but was good when she was at our table. Definitely a fun atmosphere for the night. We were told that they do a lot of takeout orders which would be good to know for those that live near the restaurant. I would definitely recommend this place if you want to have space to enjoy the company you’re with and not worry about he place being so packed you can’t truly enjoy it.

Ordered take out. It arrived in a timely fashion, the food was still warm, driver was pleasant, no complaints. We ordered 3 apps and two entrees as we normally do when we have not tried a place before so we can get a general feeling for the food. The vegetable dumplings: outstanding, steamed to perfection, vegetables on the inside were fresh and still had that crispness to them that often dissipates when they are over cooked, thawed, or just old. 5 stars on those, I could eat buckets of them. Spring Rolls: nothing bothers me more than biting into a spring roll or an egg roll and having my mouth coated with fryer grease. These were no exception. They were not over fried, so having worked in a few kitchens in my day, 9 times out of 10 things come out like this when the fryer oil hasn’t been changed in a long time. That type of attention in a kitchen doesn’t bode well for a restaurant serving raw fish. Aged Tofu: Listen, I get what it is, Ive had it at some of the best Japanese restaurants in NY and some local joints across the country… this, I don’t even know what this was. If I took silken firm tofu and microwaved it for 30 seconds than covered it in a soy sauce that had been extracted of all its’ namesake qualities, that’s what this was. Apparently at Kodo, Tempura Sauce is the name they use for water with food coloring. Now, the entrees. Serious comeback on the Bean Curd Homestyle. The sauce was incredible, Tofu was well textured, vegetables were cooked perfectly. Zero complaints, 4 stars. Ma Po Tofu: I can’t say anything about the dish other than that it had zero flavor. This always baffles me considering the flavors and heat that go into Sichuan cooking, especially a dish like this. Even if the only flavor in there was the chili heat, I could have been mildly content, but there was just nothing. In summation, like most of the reviews on this page, Kodo killed it and Kodo failed vigorously. I would order the dumplings and homestyle again, but I probably wont… 2 out of 5 isn’t a great showing. We also ordered fried rice, no egg and it came with egg. I would let it slide if I had ordered by phone, but there is really no excuse for ignoring the«no egg please, thank you very much» comment that pops up indented below fried rice when the online order sheet pops out of the printer over there. We didn’t bother calling to complain so I cannot offer insight on how they handle such situation. Id give it 2.5 stars if I could, but the dumplings were just so damned good I give 3 instead of 2.

Honestly a strong 2 – 2.5 rating. It’s Fuji for me from now on. ** Please note the HUGE discrepancy in reviewing this place. People either love or hate this place, and it appears people complain about the same things** Yes this is my 3rd review mainly because my daughter loves hibachi. And was dying to come back for the balloon animal. So we come a 3rd time to Kodo’s this past Friday night. I read the review about the daughter and mom who were confronted about their reviews at their house. I would just tell them the truth if asked. Loudly… so the whole place would hear me if need be. Needless to say, that never happened. But lo as we walk in, a woman is talking to the owner about the reviews online. Taccckky! I was surprised. They actually had customers on Friday eve. Not 5 or 6 but like a regular restaurant on a Wednesday. We were the only ones at our table but it quickly filled up. 3 reasons for the new review: 1– Service has greatly improved across the board. 2– Hibachi is crap and inconsistent, barely a show and everything was covered in oyster sauce. Rice was crunchy as in not cooked all the way or burnt. Blech. No takeout box for me thanks. Annnnddd no balloon Animal. 3– Drinks are cheap and strong $ 5.95 and half price during happy hour 3 – 7. They may have some other specials going on but waitress never mentioned anything about the happy hour. Soo come here for drinks and go somewhere else to eat.

Truly a hidden gem! At first my husband and I were going to another location to celebrate my birthday but, I remembered my cousin talking about a hibachi place that was closer to me, was awesome, and best of all… empty! Well we took a detour and found Kodo Hibachi!!! The prices were great, the food was delicious, and the drinks were… well they have me feeling pretty damn good right now! This will definitely be our new go to spot for hibachi. The décor is beautiful, the service was great, and it wasn’t overly crowded!!!

You’d think I would learn my lesson with this place. But I was in denial. But now? I am never going back OR ordering delivery. The delivery is surprisingly better than actually going there but as of lately it’s lacked and has taken way too long. So my mom and I decided to go back for the first time in what seemed like months. I ordered an order of salmon sashimi and shrimp sashimi. I was so happy to see Jason working there still. He’s the only reason this place is worth a star. The shrimp was warm but I thought that they had just cooked it a bit. I was wrong. Not only did it taste disgusting but I got major food poisoning because of it. I’m warning everyone of this place, be weary of it. I wish Jason would go to work some place else because he’s the only thing I’ll miss about this place

Well, we tried to eat here on a Sunday evening. Went in and there was no one in the entry. Someone was on the phone in the back, but nobody came to seat us. Left after 5 minutes. The entry is completely separate from the dining area. Hint: If you’re not going to keep a host posted to greet patrons, at least get a doorbell. Menu looked good but now we’ll never know.

This place has delicious sushi! My boyfriend and I went on a quiet Tuesday night. The inside of the restaurant is very clean and the décor is very welcoming. Fast service and fresh sushi!

My wife and I go to Kodo about once a month. The place is brand-new, very modern, and a lot of fun. The décor is kind of cheesy and flashy, which I think is actually kind of cool. Basically, the restaurant is broken up into two sections. One section is at the hibachi area, where guests just sit around a large flat top Grill, and the chef comes out and cook the meal for them and does all those tricks with the knives and spoons spatulas etc. typical hibachi stuff. The other section of the restaurant is basically sitdown dining, where you can order sushi and hot meals from the kitchen. This is the only area we have tried so far, but we keep coming back for the sushi. The sushi is amazing. Super fresh, expertly done, and quickly served. We always get a couple appetizers and a couple plates of sushi. Everything is always spot on, and the service is great. The waitresses are polite and efficient, and not too pushy. They don’t «hover». I wish this place were more popular. I hate to say it, but I actually wish more people would be in the restaurant when we are there. It seems to be a well-kept secret so far. Usually, when we go in there, there are only a few other tables seated. I am a huge fan of this place, and will continue to be as long as they keep up the consistent great food and service. My only gripe about this place, and it’s really weird, is that their bathroom just kind of smells stinky and funky every time I go in there. Don’t get me wrong, it looks clean and sparkling, but it smells pretty bad in the men’s room. Four stars. Get the men’s room smelling nice and it will be five stars. Rock on Kodo.

I decided to go to Kodo for lunch with my daughter on a day off from work and we were had a great time. We went in for lunch and was the only guests in here on a Monday. However, we ate very well and had a great time. Kodo appears to have been merged with Empire Garden. We used to go to Empire Garden very often when we lived in the neighborhood. The food was good, but not the best and not seasoned as well as I have had at Hibachi places before. Even the Hibachi station at Osaka is better then this hibachi. However, for the price, it was ok. The teppanyaki chef was just ok, but not impressive. All in all, it was an alright experience. Perhaps I will go back for dinner, but who knows.

Sub-par across the board. I’m not really sure why folks are making wildly inaccurate comparisons about this place. Not only was it nowhere near as good as others in the area, but both my wife and I got since from the food here. Let’s start with the drinks. I had a Samurai, which seemed to be basically another tropical beverage with a catchy name. I don’t mind if you use rail liquor(especially for a cocktail that only cost $ 5.95), but use good rail liquor. I could taste the foul swill over all other notes. Horrible. Soup: pretty good. Not as composed as others, but well-balanced and fresh. Very tasty. Salad: actual salad was good, very fresh. Dressing was odd. Like sesame-ginger meets mayo. Not my favorite, but still nice and flavorful. Sushi: we split one roll to try, and it was decent. I’ve had fresher, but the presentation was nice(not the best). Fried rice: included in the price, which was nice; no up-charge for it. Still, lacked a lot in flavor. No veggies either. Just rice and egg. Not a lot of cohesion here. Noodles: again, flavorless. Did not need to spend time on the grill for the amount of good it did them. Veggies: fresh, well-cooked, very crunchy, nicely done. Entrée: I had the filet and shrimp, and the wife had scallops and shrimp. The shrimp were bigger than I expected, but tasted ever-so-slightly off. The filet was great, though a tad overcooked. Still tender and delicious, though. But, probably is, they were just dripping was last-second sauce(teriyaki or soy, couldn’t tell, maybe a combination). The sauce should not be the star of the show; the meat should speak for itself. Overall: The main reason we went is we wanted to try something new in our area. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the result. I don’t know why the«Chinese» restaurant(Empire Gardens) decided to go the hibachi route, but it isn’t working. The original place was so much better. Maybe we’ll still do traditional takeout from them in the future, but we will not be returning for hibachi. Yes, they are slightly less expensive, and I mean VERYSLIGHTLY. But it is not worth the one or two dollar savings for an experience of that caliber. Others in the area do it so much better.

Not too shabby. We ordered delivery and, although they charged us up the wahzoo for the service to our door, it was nice to have a quality meal that didn’t feel fast-foody. Our sushi was ok(not the best I have ever had), the Teriyaki seafood trio was fabulous. They were even able to accommodate our request for more veggies instead of rice. I was a bit annoyed that I got soooo many onions(it really was excessive and my husband’s order had half of what I was laden with), but it was tasty when I ate around it. May give them another go for delivery one day and try something new there. Not too shabby…

We bought the Unilocal deal for $ 15 and thought that’d be a steal for hibachi. And it was, only the food wasn’t exactly up to par. The performance was lackluster and some of the food was cold right off the grill. It was like he forgot to turn it on, everything was under seasoned. The three stars are for the chef who made up for his lack of skill with his humor, my filet which was delicious and the price of the food was reasonable. Go if you have the coupon, but with no deal I’d pass everytime.

The BEST happy hour I have ever had. All appetizers are half priced, all drink are half price. Their sushi is the BEST too!!! Out of control, hot sexy girl, and spicy tuna are our favorites. Me and my boyfriend come here at least 2 – 3 times a week, it’s so good! The staff are always friendly too! My only concern is about the bartender who works Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. He is pleasant but is just a bit too talkative and opinionated. Makes a great drink though! Thank you amy! We will see you guys soon :)
