The restaurant looks beautiful but that is where the fun ended. The food was very bland. If you are going to drop that kind of money on hibachi I would consider Kobe Steakhouse.

The manger, Sandy, was very rude to me. I ordered toro sushi and they brought me a toro that was spoiled. Rather than telling me about it and being honest, they tried to mask it by lightly frying it on the grill. I called them on it. Beware if they do this to you. Also, the waiter brought me a salad with his dirty thumb inside the plate contaminating my salad.

The hostess was rude and unprofessional. Rushing us shortly after getting the very extensive menu«You need to order. You need to order. We need to move things along.» If you order lobster in your Hibachi get out your reading glasses as you won’t be able to even see it on the plate it is such a small amount. Other things too but just such an underwhelming experiencing for our family graduation celebration.

This is most definitely my favorite hibachi restaurant, hands down. After moving and trying hibachi in many different states I always compare it to Fuji. The sushi is always fresh and on point and the hibachi flavors delicious! The chef staff is different every time we go so some nights the«show» is better then others. The filet is always a go to favorite for our entire family. Yes, bring the kids! They will love it! Portions are huge but leftovers are amazing so just have everyone get their own order and save the money on the«split plate» fee. Also ask for double yum yum sauce. Only negative is that it’s loud so if you are going with a large group do not count on being able to communicate with everyone in your party.

If I could give this zero stars I would. I put my name on the list to be seated and waited the allotted time of 20mins as the hostess stated. After about 25 mins I noticed an entire five parties were seated before me which led me to believe that we were completely skipped over. I explained this to the manager Sandy and she didn’t seem a bit concerned and blamed it on my oversight as if I was the one controlling the buzzer. There was no accommodation or incentives to keep us as a paying customer. I will be calling to speak with the owner James tomorrow to let him know how dissatisfied we were with this customer service. We drove over 20 miles outside of our neighborhood to patronize this restaurant only to be treated this way with my family.

This is our favorite sushi spot in the area. We give other places a try based on friend’s recommendations but all pale in comparison to Fuji!(We still have one more place in Annapolis to go to but I am betting Fuji will still be the best). We always sit at the sushi bar, bar, or small table between the two. And we ALWAYS ask for Rebecca as our server. She is hands-down the best waitress I have ever had. Ever.(We went once while she wasn’t working and the service was terrible, we were sitting outside — lesson learned, I think the girl was new). After being seated we always get a cloth to wash our hands, our drinks from the bar(any questions about saki are answered), and Rebecca lets us know what special we would like. The sushi and rolls are fresh, not overly covered in sauces, and the presentation is beautiful. I really have nothing bad to say about Fuji. It is our favorite! It can get very crowded and the wait seems long for hibachi. However, we only go for sushi(shorter wait) so I cannot speak to the hibachi experience at Fuji.

The Manager at this restaurant is completely unprofessional and rude. Because the bartender was kind and friendly with me she insisted that the bartender gave me free drinks which did never ever happen!!! Now she wants to argue with me and charge me for drinks I never had nor ordered and is fighting with me about it. I would come here once a week for lunch or dinner and even bring family and friends. We have even had birthday parties here with bills close to 1,000. I WILLNEVEREVER go back to this restaurant. I hope overcharging me 8.00 for a glass of wine I never had was worth it! I am telling all my friends and family including social media to BOYCOTTHISPLACE! DONOTGOHERE!!! Extremely unprofessional managers. Took bad cause the bartender is so lovely, kind & professional.

This new(er) location has REALLY gone down hill. When they were their smaller storefront in the old shopping center next door we loved coming on dates and with friends and family for years. We just had a hibachi style dinner with family at around 7:30pm on Saturday night and were genuinely embarrassed to have chosen this place for dinner. The host staff is rude. They almost bark at you when asking how many members are in your party and how long the wait is, as though they are rushing you along to move on to the next party. When we were a little delayed arriving to be seated after the buzzer went off because we were told the wait would be 40 minutes and it was actually 15, one hostess scolded us for our delayed arrival. I should have known what to anticipate then as I have never actually been scolded by an employee of a place I was paying to dine. We were seated at a hibachi table like sardines in a can. It’s incredibly ridiculous how many people they cram around one grill which is a clear indication of their priority of turning tables and customers for profit over actually having any concern for customers’ experience because being squeezed in between strangers will definitely ruin that. They’ve pulled out all the stops with a bunch of neon lighting EVERYWHERE though. The actual facility looks like a gaudy disco club likely in effort to overcompensate for the subpar food, service, and hospitality. Our server never introduced herself. She just rushed us to select overpriced beverages and entrees. Our tempura appetizers took quite a while to come out and our drinks took even longer. We were rushed from the time we arrived to the time we were out the door as our plates were being taken before we finished portions of our meal. This was probably for the best as no one in our party enjoyed their bland and rubbery chicken, bland and overcooked steak, overcooked and over salted shrimp and lobster, crunchy fried rice with no flavor, or watery Lo mein noodles. The majority of people at our table left more than half their meals. Our party was in agreement that the shining star of our meal was the salad in the beginning… A very basic medley of iceberg lettuce, carrots, and ginger dressing. Everything else was just not good and subpar even to Quickway Hibachi carryout of Laurel albeit triple the cost. Overall this was the worst way we’ve wasted $ 120 for dinner for two in a long while and I would not recommend nor return to Fuji Hibachi. Perhaps the sushi lounge across the street is better but i doubt that.

My night here was awful. It was a really busy Saturday night and me and my boyfriend wanted to go here for a date night. We had to wait about 30 minutes but we didn’t mind. As we were waiting, a big party left pretty mad saying” you shouldn’t treat customers like that.” I was confused, because I didn’t want to experience what«that» was, but I was so hungry, I decided to wait. When finally getting to the table, we had to sit with strangers which I wasn’t too thrilled about. The prices for the food was pretty expensive, and it didn’t taste all that great. It looks like and tastes like the food you get from the Japanese teriyaki places in the mall. It was so loud, I had to shout on the top of my lungs just to talk to my boyfriend who was right next to me. Just to make my night from bad to worse, a girl right next to me broke and spilled her alcoholic drink on me and on my purse! She gave me a sad apology and her boyfriend said«it happens.» Since I have very dry skin, I had cracks on my hands so my hands were burning due to her alcohol all over me. Once the«show» was over, I packed up everything(didn’t even bother to eat anything) and left. I couldn’t wait for a dinner to end and leave. Honestly, if you are going in a big group, this might be a good place to eat, but it’s so loud, you can’t even hear each other talk. Date night ruined.

This place never disappoints. They have fresh fish, perfect hibachi, and great drinks. The service is on point, and there is rarely a wait to be seated. We come every other week at least and have never had a bad experience. We also bring our two very young children(18 months and 4 months) who they always accommodate. When I was pregnant, the server helped me pick delicious cooked sushi I could eat. And if you’re not looking for a family place — Jeanie is the BEST bartender in Crofton: part mixologist, part therapist. This is the best place to go for fun with your whole family for dinner, or just a friend for drinks! Because of the great layout, they are truly two totally different vibes — a restaurant and lounge — in one place. My ONLY complaint is their price on mixed drinks and wine is higher than it should be. The sushi price is high, but that is because it is SO high quality. You will not be disappointed. Their yellowtail melts in your mouth. But there is no reason for the drink price to be above $ 8. I would eat here three times a week if they had $ 5 martini happy hour or $ 8 sushi roll nights.

It’s our second time coming in here(sushi bar side) We like the food and service. The unagi don is our favorite thing on the menu. Appetizers are very interesting, tuna pizza is pretty legit. I don’t recommend sitting by the wall near the sushi bar and booze bar. It’s really dark and hard to see the menu. If the owner is reading this, please consider changing your plating. For the smaller appetizers, please use a smaller plate! Some of your tables are pretty small and that large plate is very overwhelming. Overall, it’s a good experience but damn those plates tho.

We took our daughter here for her Birthday on a Saturday. The food was good and the service was fine as well. We sat in the bar area because the wait was over an hour for the hibachi tables. It was loud, dark and very crowded, people standing all around us wail we were trying to eat. It was hard to even talk to each other. We also felt very rushed, no sooner did the waiter put our food down he bought us our check. It was very disappointing, not worth the price. I guess some would say«if a restaurant is crowed it’s a good place» may-be? It was very unpleasant experience for us.

If you’ve already read my previous review for this restaurant, you’re already aware that while I love this restaurant, I wasn’t so pleased with my last visit. However, I had the opportunity to visit once again this past Saturday night. It was packed and crowded as usual, which kind of detracted from the experience but when a place is crowded you know the food is good ;) Anywho, my friend and I were seated at the sushi bar, which was really nice because we could see them making the sushi as we waited for our food. We ordered the Shrimp Katsu as an appetizer, and oh my goodness the shrimp with the katsu sauce was to die for, yall hear me? Then for the entrée, she ordered a Sashimi entrée while I ordered my usual Spicy Tuna Sushi Roll along with a Spicy Salmon Roll, which was new to me. It wasn’t as spicy but it was still good, and very refreshing with the hint of spicy mayonnaise that came with it. All in all, if you live in or visit the Waugh Chapel area, definitley try Fuji Hibachi Sushi & Lava Bar, you won’t be disappointed.

On date nights, this restaurant now seems to be the place to be seen. It is too crowded and impersonal most of the time and the sushi is a bit expensive now for the price. Try Kodo a little further south on Route 3 in Crofton for a more serene, personal experience.

I’ve been to Fuji a couple of times with my kiddos and we LOVELOVE coming here! Ive never made a reservation and have never waited more than a minute to be seated. The staff is friendly, efficient, and speedy. My children ages 12,8, and 3 always have a great time, so I would say it’s pretty kid friendly. The food is always amazing! What makes a hibachi spot great to me is two things: The salad dressing and the yum yum sauce! Both are delicious at Fuji! The only negative I see is parking because it’s by the movie theater so you may have to park a little ways away

Kind of in the middle about this place. It is like other hibachi places that I have tried, large grills, seated closely with strangers, chef that makes jokes and the like. Waiting on this date was fair, considering that it was a Saturday evening, from my understanding, they do not take reservations. The interior is pretty nice, kind of dark. There is a small bar area, and some seats without the hibachi as well. The hibachi area in my humble opinion can get a bit crowded, and at times I felt like I was sitting on top of my companion, and the not so polite hacking lady next to me. The miso was decent, the salad with the peanut dressing was about average. It was a little off putting when I requested brown rice and I was told that I wasn’t going to like it, I would be charged for it, and that there would be nothing that they could do after the fact. Huh? Who says that to a customer? All in all, the food portion was large, love the fact that you get rice and noodles. It was a first for me to have shrimp and salmon together on the hibachi. I liked it, it was nicely cooked, not overdone, and there was a sized portion. I felt a bit rushed to leave, despite their being no one waiting for the area. Cool to try, don’t know if I’d venture back purposely.

The food was excellent. Me and my friends decided to have a dinner party at this location. So we had to make reservations. I drove an hour to get here It was my first time going and I got to say it was well worth it So after driving forever, I was at the wrong place. I was at the Fuji Modern Asian cuisine & Sushi Lounge. Just around the corner is the Fuji Hibachi Sushi & Lava bar, the place I’m suppose to be. Two Fuji restaurants so close to another is pretty epic. So I finally make it and I got to tell ya It’s so beautiful and the atmosphere was very well set. Great Vibe. Bar … A++ This is definitely a night out with the ladies !! I had Shrimp and Salmon and I got to say I made a great choice. Rather then Kobi’s Restaurant in White Marsh, Fuji has a wide selection on their menu. And Fuji food is much yummier They interact with you while they’re cooking right in front of you. Great entertainment I’m impressed. Very pleased with the service. I have to say whoever is the owner I applaud you for great management and dedicated employees . Don’t forget to make reservations

**BEWARE** Don’t let them fool you! This place does not take reservations. While it may seem like they take reservations over the phone– they don’t. You will arrive and be handed a buzzer. Host staff is extremely rude and chose to play the«I don’t understand English» card. Many other dining options in Waugh Chapel… and would recommend any but this.

I came here on my birthday recently and I can honestly say I had a great time. We sat on the sushi side so I cannot comment on the hibachi side — but I plan to soon. Our waiter, Frank, was very attentive, friendly and funny. We never had to hunt him down for anything and he was on top of our drinks. Our food came very quickly and the sushi and apps we ordered were awesome. We came early and caught the end of happy hour so our bill wasn’t too bad for how much food we ordered, the regular prices are pretty average or a little above average for fresh seafood though I think. My husband and I loved this place and we can’t wait to return. Only downside is that the tables on the sushi side are a little close together, but the hibachi side looked very spacious. UPDATE: My family and I tried the Hibachi side around Thanksgiving and all I can say is Amazing. This place never seems to fail me. My husband and I go here on almost every date night we have as it has become our favorite restaurant. We have officially become regulars on the sushi side and the hibachi for special occasions. Oh! Not to mention, their sangria is to die for! I never go without getting one. Also the bartender/server(I wish I knew her name, petite girl with boyish cut hair, very cute) is great! The service here is far better than any other restaurant I have been too in Crofton. Whatever these owners are doing, they’re doing it right. Oh — Another thing since people like to know«downsides» — They don’t take reservations, only call aheads, and they wont seat you on the hibachi side until your entire party is there, however this is very common at other hibachi places I have been too.

Hibachi chef was nice and hibachi in general I think is a fun change up to going out to dinner. It was your typical hibachi experience and I enjoyed it. I thought the food was pretty average. Sometimes I think hibachi is more flavorful, here I felt everything was pretty soy sauced overloaded in terms of flavor. But we had a nice experience and may come back at some point. I will say I was shocked how many babies were there. No big deal, most of them were behaved and not screaming but hibachi doesn’t in my mind equate with infants. Of the 6 dining parties there for lunch I think 4 had babies and the other had a toddler. Just thought it was strange.

This is a nice trendy restaurant. However, my husband and I chose not to sit in the Hibachi area in hopes of finding a more intimate spot on the other side of the dining room. NOT! You are still sitting on top of one another, which I did not like. Not a great restaurant if you want to have a romantic meal with that special someone. Other than that, was good as usual. I have an allergy to seafood and they’re accommodating making sure there isn’t any cross contamination of the food.

I really enjoyed my service and the large, delicious portions at this hibachi restaurant. The clear soup was spectacular. We were quickly seated without reservations and the tables are spaced well so you don’t feel crammed. There’s a large bar area and seating for simply sushi. This place is a great alternative to the famous Benihana. I was surprised that my sushi was fresh and tasty and appetizers and drinks came promptly. But I never felt rushed. I had plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. Protip: even if you’re ordering a fish or meat dish as an entrée, don’t get the mushrooms as your free app. Don’t be a rookie, order the shrimp!

I walked into the establishment and was amazed by the décor. Very contemporary and welcoming. Lots of open space considering it’s an hibachi restaurant. The host, waiter, hibachi chef were all nice and friendly. I had the Alligator Roll and the M16 it was very yummy. The M16 had Salmon on top that had a nice smoked flavor to it. Others at the table ordered Hibachi plates so it was prepared in front of us and those at the table had an opportunity to catch some food with their mouth. At other tables not mine because we had kids I assume adults had the opportunity to down some saki from a squeeze bottle. It looked cool and from the sounds of things the other tables really enjoyed it. I had a fugi rum punch to drink. It was a nice fruity drink but I’ll probably try something else next time.

This place was very nice and a lot of fun! It was pretty crowded at 5:30, my boyfriend and I were seated right away with a family of 4 and another party of 2 people. Our hibachi master was polite and fun. The gentleman at the beginning who too drink orders was attentive. My boyfriend and I ordered the filet minion and chicken and 2 beers, I got fried rice with it. Let me just say they give you soup and salad to start. Then as the hibachi master is cooking you get rice(white if you don’t state you want fried rice, they add $ 2.5 for fried) it was worth it, noodles, 2 shrimp or sautéed mushroom(you choose when ordering entrée) vegetables, and whatever you chose as your entrée. I thought my dish was delicious my boyfriend kept eyeing up my fried rice(he said he should of gotten the fried rice) I was kind enough to share since there was a lot of rice. The meat was very juicy and soft not over cooked. I wasn’t able to finish my dish so I have left overs to bring home! The hibachi master made it fun he lit a onion volcano on fire and went around the table flinging zucchini pieces into people’s mouths. Overall it was a fun experience. It can be expensive depending on what you order but it’s worth trying if you never been before.

Great happy hour options with drink specials that weren’t watered down. All the rolls came out in a timely fashion. The hostess Alaina was very supportive for someone who had been with Fuji for a short period of time. Awesome customer service from the time I entered until I departed. Try the plum wine, it paired well with the variety of rolls I had that evening. Even though I ordered from the happy hour menu, the portions weren’t scaled down so much that you’d have to go hungry or order too much. Fuji’s happy hour starts 3 – 7 Sunday through Thursday and on Friday 4 – 6. Plenty of space for office get togethers or if you want to dine at the bar alone or with a friend this place can accommodate.

Fun with an assembly line mentality. Fuji is in a shopping mall in Odenton and I guess it’s trendy for the area, but its a little garish to me. It’s a hibachi so unless you’re going with 8 people, you will be seated with strangers. If they are fun strangers, great. If they are a family of four with two parents who ignore/hate one another, then you’ll be forced to turn to the grill master for entertainment. If you get the cool grill master who’s throwing things and making jokes, great. If you get the one who seems like he’d prefer to set himself on fire rather than the food, then you’ll be forced to drink. If you suspect that you are pregnant and cannot drink, well, just go somewhere else. The food was unnecessarily greasy. It probably could have been really good without all the fat. I could tell that it was fresh and tasty, but way too much oil. I did appreciate that they made my wife’s food without onions before making everyone else’s. We actually had really big portions and both brought a full meal home. It was reasonably priced. My non-alcoholic piña colada was tasty. I don’t know, nothing stands out in my mind as being enjoyable enough to warrant a trip back.

Fuji is my favorite hibachi spot. I’ve been there several times, and although it’s a bit far from DC, I think it’s worth the drive. I recently went to Fuji for a birthday get together on a Friday night. We had made a reservation for our large party, but because the restaurant was so busy, we had to wait about an hour before we were seated. Besides feeling like I was in everyone’s way, I didn’t mind the wait because I had my friends to talk to, and we were all looking forward to the delicious food! Once we got to our hibachi table, I promptly placed my order for a red blend wine as well as the chicken and shrimp with noodles, veggies, and fried rice. I also ordered the spicy salmon sushi as an appetizer, and everything was delicious. There were a couple of hiccups when it came to my food and drink order, but the server was quick to correct anything that went wrong, and I appreciated his diligence. This is a great place to dine if you have a large party(hibachi table) or if it’s just you and one other person(at the bar for happy hour).
