They make some the best pastries. A few are just decent but the ones that click with your tastebuds will make you want more. Some of my faves are the buttermilk pudding bread, cheese sticks and croissant with chocolate. The desserts in the glass displays are pricier but not always tastier. Their cakes are amazing. My family always get our birthday cakes here. Go for the mango and taro.

Lucky for this place it’s right next door to Garlic & Chives AND Brodard! Sure enough, after dinner at Garlic & Chives I was drawn to the promise of a little sweet something something next door. It’s definitely the smallest location I’ve been in, and the selection seemed a little weak – i saw a lot of the same stuff. That said, as long as they have what I want it’s good enough for me! I got my usual taro buns and a milk tea with coffee jelly – perfectly satisfying. STEPHJUDGEMENT: Not as good of a selection as the larger locations, but will do in a pinch.

I am a regular here but today was absolutely unbelievable. I received a coupon for 3 off 12 back in December. A coupon they offered for the lunar new years. Today I came in, spent 22 dollars and attempted to use the coupon. The cashier accusingly asked me if we had received it from their store, as you know people don’t have a life, spend all this time and money to print a coupon for 3 dollars off. He asked me if the coupon had expired. I told him no and showed him the dated printed was March 15. He did not give me my 3 dollars off and gave me another 3 off 12 coupon printed on card stock instead of a glossy paper(like the one I got back in December) with the same expiration date. They have multiple locations, make plenty of money and print coupons that they don’t even accept just to get you to return. Pretty lame. In the end TIM(I believe is the cashier’s name) did not honor THEIR own coupon. Attached are the coupon and receipt. Still frustrated that the cashier had the nerves to question and accuse me of attempting to use a faulty coupon. Bs.

Saw a random lady touching all the breads in the cases so I just got a coffee. I asked the clerk if the 85C Coffee was drip coffee, how is it prepared since the signage didn’t indicate and she kept saying«with cream and sugar». I stopped asking after two iterations of that. I got the coffee anyway and it came out with cream and sugar when I wanted it black. I guess«cream and sugar» was more salient information than I gave credit for. :(

The baked goods here — the taro bread and brioche, in particular — are good, but the customer service is so inconsistent that the prospect of going here for a treat is no longer exciting. If you’re okay with whatever offerings they have at the moment, there’s no problem, just pick up a tray, load it with whatever strikes your fancy, and pay at the counter. If you have a question about when certain breads will be available or need to order a cake or pie, the process can be easy or a headache. For example, this weekend, I ordered a cake for my mother and it was no problem, I was in and out of the store in less than 10 minutes. A few months ago, I ordered a pie for my husband and it took a few hours because the employee failed to communicate that the pie needed more time to set AFTER I already paid for it. This place is a mixed bag, depending on who’s working. Go at your own risk.

Looking for something a little unusual? How about their squid ink roll stuffed with bits of cheese? Highly recommend this baked good to anyone who prefers savory over sweet. And for lovers of sweets, the taro bun(may not be the name on the label) was delightful. My only gripe is that they included flecks of nuts throughout the bun. Thought unnecessary and distracting. The flavor was good. «Violet» from Sweet Hut in Atlanta is still my absolute favorite taro-flavored bun. Also loved their green milk tea. Delicious! Just as good as any specialty milk tea place IMO. And the prices for their drinks and baked good were pretty reasonable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. One woman took the time to introduce us to some of their newest offerings, including a skinny baguette with butter and sugar smeared inside. The cashier who rung us up was very pleasant, too. Five stars for fresh, fragrant, and delicious pastries and snacks; good service; and budget-friendly prices. Enjoy your buys at one of the tables in the mall. BTW these pastries travel well and make good gifts for family and friends.

This one is in the hall of a small plaza, you can’t walk by and not stop to get your dessert fix. The lines go really fast, they do a great job, so don’t be scared if you see a long line. We got cakes for the office, but it’s anyone’s guess what you might want to try here! Parking for the plaza is a bit tricky, but once you are in you can hop form restaurant to boutique shops to a bigger grocery store.

I walked out of Garlic and Chives next door and was following the amazing heavenly smell of fresh cakes and bread, pretty much everybody went there after dinner, lucky folks, it was never this crowded before Garlic n chives opened. There was a long line but I decided to give it another try, I was there at their grand opening. They had a sign to buy 2 or 3, get 1 free but when I got to the cashier, she disallowed everything, that was nt COOL! Their custard pie was good, coconut sweet bread and the apple tart were good, the rest was bland. 85 c bakery, each item was 2.35 and above. The cakes looked beautiful but most were So tasteless, i bought 4 slices. Sorry I’m not going back, there are so many other bakeries in town.

4* for the MILKTOAST breads. They carry some other kind of breads & cakes too, but none of them caught my attention like the simple looking yet delicious tasting milk toasts. I wanted to try their mini cakes but from the look of it(very pretty) it also looked sugary & sweetened with artificial colorings. Buy a drink to go with your cake or bread. There is a boba place in the same strip mall. Back to the milk toast, it will melt in your mouth & gets sticky at times but that’s what forks are invented for. Tastes great on its own.

Stopped by the bakery to pick up some buns before our long drive home. The store was bustling with people and employees were busy keeping up with the demand. This is common to all the 85 Bakery locations. Taro buns are my favorite pastry here and, just seeing how quickly the buns are snatched up just as they’re put out, I’d say others feel the same way about the buns. The taro buns are huge and flaky. I enjoy mine slightly warmed up so that the taro filling is nice and gooey.

I love their mini apple pie! It’s not a typical pie by any means. Underneath the neatly arranged cinnamon apple slices is a surprise layer of custard filling! Yummmmmmmmmm! The mini apple pie allows you to portion control, but you’ll need a lot of will power not to eat another whole pie :) This is my current 85 fave!

I came to this location when I was last in So Cal because I had been to some of the other OC locations before. I wanted to experience something different, and since Garden Grove wasn’t too far from where I was traveling that day, I decided to get breakfast at this particular 85 Degrees and spend the morning there. There was a parking lot, since this bakery shared the space with several other vendors. I was able to find it pretty easily and I didn’t have too much trouble finding parking. This 85 Degrees is different from others in that it’s within a plaza of sorts … so you walk indoors and the bakery is sort of sectioned off by its walls, but you can easily exit into the grander plaza space. There was a good supply of pastries to choose from, but I didn’t deviate from my usual order — the«Chocolate Chip Milk Bread Bowl» for $ 2, which is my absolute favorite, and the«Sea Salt Coffee.» Since I don’t get to visit 85 Degrees often anymore, I splurged and got a large. Totes were really cheap here, so I got two of the reusable bags as well during check-out. There were quite a few tables available, and I didn’t have to wait long for my order. While there were plenty of families out and about – ordering and dining in – I actually had a pleasant visit to this 85 Degrees location. I enjoyed my milk bread pastry – which was as fluffy, moist and fresh tasting as ever – as well as my sea salt coffee(which I always finish too quickly). I then was able to sit at my leisure and journal for a bit and decide what I was going to do for the rest of the day. My Saturday started off great at this 85 Degrees location, and I would gladly revisit it if I were ever in the area again.

This 85 location is the worst l would have to say. The displays were dirty the floors were sticky. And people were still lining up like a crazy flea market for 85 bread. When approaching the bread displays it looked like they only had 3 type of breads they didn’t have taro. And the whole place just felt dirty felt like it needed a lysol spray down. We decided to go to buena parks 85s location… This says a lot because i love 85. Just because it has an 85 name the quality here is not on par with other locations.

i like their sea cream jasmine tea, less sea cream because they fill 1⁄3 of the cup with sea cream and i think it’s too much. i usually don’t come here because i’m not much of a sweets person but there’s this new thing they have and i really like it. scroll down for the picture.

As with every other 85 degrees bakery location, I really like this one. They are usually well stocked on most of their bakery items; however there was one time that I came for calamari bread, and they were out, which was kind of annoying because I drove really out of the way to get here. Regardless, they have plenty of other options which I also enjoy which include: — marble taro bread(such a unique flavor, it is a must try!) –whole wheat mushroom bread(mushrooms + garlic = yum!) –garlic cheese bread(for the mushroom haters) They also have a whole lot of macarons, cake slices, and other desserts that are great: –tiramisu(so light!) –chocolate pearl(chiffon cake and chocolate moose) –red velvet cake(tangy and creamy) Their coffee is also very nice and unique. Their sea salt coffee is forever my favorite, but they also have a variety of iced teas and other coffee drinks. The only downside here is that parking can get kind of crazy here despite it being kind of a larger lot.

The quality of the bread is less than acceptable. Having lived in Irvine for the last few years, I’ve been spoiled by good quality 85. I saw some bread on the shelves that were smushed and less than presentable for the 85 brand. I was looking for a good brioche bread and only 1 out of 10 was shelf worthy. One of the custard breads was sinking inwards instead of making the usual muffin-like shape. Whoever is managing this branch should really regulate the quality of the bread being made. I did order their sea salt coffee and it tasted great. It’s just like the one in Irvine so no complaints on their drinks from me. I do like how big and open their location is. It’s nice to see the Mall of Fortune really coming to life. I just wish there was more consistency in the quality of bread from the different locations.

Taro bread here is my favorite. I don’t really get much else but if I do I get red bean or try something new. I love the mango pudding here! Drinks wise, my go to is the sea salt iced coffee. It has a great coffee flavor and that sea salt cream on top adds that extra oomph!

Perfect for those on the go! I love coming here for celebration cakes and the sea salt coffee. I always come and pick up a strawberry puff or mango cake for dinner parties. It’s already made with a cute presentation and a reasonable price. This store is always crowded, but the line is quick. I hate the parking here!

YES. I’m one of those people that stands in line for 45 minutes to get $ 30 worth of pastries. 85 Degrees has been around for a long time now, enough that I think everyone has to have had it at some point. And once you’ve had it, you have to keep coming back! I come here strictly for the pastries. I’m not into their drinks or cakes. It’s all about the bread here. So what should you try? 1. Pork sung bread: the pork sung is fantastic. Not too dry. The ratio of bread to meat is perfect. 2. Chocolate cream cheese bread: basically a lightly flavored chocolate Hawaiian bread with cream cheese in the middle. Great combination. 3. Maple toast: need I say more? Deliciously sweet. 4. Ham & cheese: the cheese is melted on the outside for a really good flavor. 5. Brioche: I just like this as a snack I can munch on between meals. Light and fluffy. 6. Other honorable mentions: squid ink bread(bring some home for your pasta), garlic toast, chocobowl. I came here at 9:00 on a weekend and they still had fresh bread coming out. When I hear one of the workers scream, «Fresh bread!» I run.

During my college days I’d go to 85 degrees at Diamond Jamboree because 1) I’m Asian, 2) I love carbs, 3) my family loved it, and 4) it was nearby. Sometimes I do miss it. They opened this location in Garden Grove after I moved back to Sacramento, so this was my first time checking it out. I was in the area with my coworker and knew I had to be a good daughter/sister/girlfriend and pick up some goodies to bring home. It’s located on the 99-cent store side. I was surprised how empty 85 degrees was because whenever I went to the DJ one there was a line out the door. Has the popularity died down since I left or was it not as busy because there are more locations? Hm… Not sure if this location is ACTUALLY bigger or just felt like it because there weren’t that many people. I was glad they had the Portuguese egg tarts because those are my FAV! So creamy and delicious! I would recommend! I picked up the Taro swirl bread for my mom because she likes that(I don’t). Other than those, I did not recognize any of the other breads. Does this location have different stuff than DJ or has the selection changed in the last couple years? I got the mango swirl, which 5 out of 5 people in my family said was NOTGOOD/WEIRD. Would NOT recommend. They also had a weird looking mocha bread… ehhh. I was surprised they didn’t have any savory selections. I’m used to seeing the hot dog buns, pizza, garlic breads… but there weren’t any. Not sure if it they had run out or ??? At DJ they are also constantly bringing out new items and shouted«FRESHBREAD!!» but here it was empty and kinda sad. Based on the selection, I think the Diamond Jamboree location is superior.
