I came in for the com ga chien don(the fried chicken and rice) with a couple of friends and was overcharged/cheated. We had ordered the $ 2.99 chicken and they charged all of us for the $ 3.99 chicken. Sure, it’s only a dollar difference but its the principle. When we talked to them and told them that we had ordered the $ 2.99, they said that they gave us the bigger chicken leg, hence the extra dollar. I wouldn’t have made such a big deal if the«bigger» chicken leg was actually bigger than the small one.. So make sure when you order, you say $ 2.99. when you receive your food. make sure you ask them if it’s $ 2.99 because they will charge you for more. Fuckin’ Vietnamese People.

Yes, the infamous $ 2.99 restaurant. I couldn’t resist but try this place. I’ve been to the $ 1.99 place and it was okay for the cornish game hen(which incidentally isn’t $ 1.99) but the buck 99 items weren’t good. Here it is 2 bucks 99 so I had to give it a go… bun bo hue… that’s right. So it arrives rather quickly, not a shabby sized bowl either. I take a sip of the broth — not too bad for a 3 buck bowl of noodle soup. I slurp it and surprisingly they weren’t stingy on the beef. I was content… but then, on the drive home — my tongue did the MSG dance and I wasn’t so content anymore. 2.5 stars — if you’re not allergic to MSG this place is just fine.

I saw this place one day while going to Taste Tea boba shop in the same plaza. This restaurant was closed but I took a note of it since the sign said $ 2.99 restaurant. Could it be a $ 1.99 restaurant that charges a dollar more for the same items? So one day, my friend and I checked it out and I was surprised that the menu actually is all $ 2.99 items rather than at $ 1.99 restaurant where only half of the items are a buck and 99 cents. Some items there go for $ 3.75 and they even charge for water! However, at Quan Bun Song Huong or also known as $ 2.99 respectively, there is cornish game hen with red rice, grilled pork with vermicelli, phở, pork chop with rice and other items. We had the cornish hen and vermicelli bowl which were both good and a good size. The restaurant is very clean and service is very nice here. I was not rushed and you don’t feel like you are eating at a cheap restaurant whatsoever. I cannot wait to come back and try out more items here. I will have to take a picture of their menu to post up.

My sister and I tried the deep fried chicken. It was incredibly delicious and so worth the $ 2.99! The skin was crispy and crackly, and the chicken meat was very juicy! The rice is supposed to be red rice but it was okay. Just eat the chicken! The chicken dish is comparable to the $ 1.99 restaurant but this restaurant is alot cleaner. They also had a variety of che(vietnamese desserts) and drinks.

Cheap eats!!! $ 2.99!!! Wow!!! oneoneone1111… That being said, their $ 2.99 is pretty simple. You get a heap of rice, the main item, and some picked veggies on the side. I’ve only tried a few times so far and I like the pork and deep fried chicken quarter thus far. Sometimes parking sucks chicken butt here but it’s okay most of the time.

So I tried the Bun Rieu. Um no. I think you should stick to rice dishes like the fried chicken leg quarter. It was good and you can’t go wrong.
