I attended a fun event at Rome Valley… It was the Great Gatsby Murder Mystery. This was my first time going, and it was a lot of fun. :) Everyone seemed to have enjoyed themselves. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. BJ, was on top of everything. She was available to answer questions, and very friendly. The event was staged nicely… I’d definitely go again. The grounds and view, are to die for. Holy moly!!!

After searching for a while for the perfect venue, we chose the Rome Valley Vineyards to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary in October. I was surprised to find this place. Although I grew up in the area, I have been away for many years. We had a fantastic time! BJ and her team really did a great job listening to what we wanted and tried very hard to make sure everything was done that way we have envisioned. This is a beautiful place with amazing views. It was decorated beautifully and the catering was great. We are already planning another event. The driveway up is a bit steep, other than that, nothing negative to say. Thanks BJ and team for a very, memorable event for my parents!

I have been dying to review this place since I was(fairly) recently in a wedding here, but I wanted to make sure to leave enough distance between the wedding and my review that the owners could not identify the bride and groom and retaliate in any way — yes, our experience was THAT bad. Fortunately, the guests(and the bride) did not have a clue how unbelievably rude BJ and her staff were, but the wedding party sure found out quickly! BJ absolutely panics on wedding day for no reason — one member of her staff apologized for her several times, acknowledging that she really cannot handle stress. If this is the case, perhaps she should not be running a wedding venue? The other members of her staff(primarily teenage girls, from what I recall) simply acted like little robots, and were not helpful for much more than refilling empty water glasses and patronizing the bridal party(I supposed I should add that there really was not much alcohol flowing at this wedding, we were completely sober the whole time, and we all commiserated about how awful the employees were once the wedding was over and we realized we had the same experiences). The location itself is beautiful, but the host was completely unprepared for the weather — no umbrellas for the sun beating down on the guests(several guests commented on this), and had it been cold, well that’s just too bad because no one is allowed inside besides the wedding party, and even then only for a very short period of time. I should also add that we were constantly directed to do and not to do very specific things for insurance purposes — I have been in multiple weddings at similar venues(old buildings/houses, etc), and none of those places had nearly the restrictions that this place did. I cannot in good conscience give any better than a one star review unless it is under completely new management these days, which it does not appear to be. PS — the non-stop Disney music and Disney character statues hiding all over the property and in the house are creepy.

We went to the greatest party this evening. It was a great Gatsby Murder Mystery. There was a live Dixieland Band, dancing, delicious food, amazing actors that created the ambiance of the roaring twenties. Rome Valley Vineyards sits high on top of a hill with a 360 degree view of the Sierras and a sweeping view of the Sacramento valley. BJ the hostess and owner really outdid herself with the hospitality shown. Thinking of a wedding or a reception? How about a graduation party or a shower. The place is amazing… Suzanne Horsley

BJ, the owner, is a wonderful person who instantly made me feel at home at the vineyard. Located in such a scenic, breathtaking place, the vineyard was a great place to be all afternoon as we took part in some delicious wine-tasting. I am definitely coming back. With great hospitality and delicious wine, it would be silly not to!

We are from Chicago and recently stayed for a family reunion and wedding for one week. There were 6 of us staying. We had a wonderful visit, the house was wonderful, clean, and the grounds were amazing. We did a wine tasting and walked the grounds. The views in the morning were breath taking and my favorite with a cup of coffee and a rocking chair on the porch. We made a family meal in the kitchen and relaxed and visited in the great room. BJ was wonderful owner and host, she was so accommodating to all our needs big and small. we have made a friend for life with BJ. We plan on coming back in the next year or two for another reunion and my husband and I want to renew our vows at the vineyard with the beautiful view and setting sun… cant wait! Thanks BJ, see you soon!!! Darlene, Marie, Katie and family

Rome Valley Vineyards is one of the most beautiful wedding venues we have seen with the worst ownership I’ve ever had to deal with. BJ, the owner, at first seemed personable and dedicated to making our wedding experience pleasant and affordable. However, once we signed the contract this impression slowly changed. We began to find changes to simple agreements that were previously made, like charging us for having our dog on the premises and making us clean the entire venue(including taking out all the trash) by 11:00 on the night of our wedding. We felt her hostility grow as the wedding came nearer, as tiny details became additional charges. 90% of the stress of planning our wedding came from BJ. I figured she would at least be more accommodating on our wedding day, but I was mistaken. On the wedding day, a few hours before the ceremony, she changed her mind about letting us serve our own wine and our parents had to spend hours of their time convincing her to honor her word as well as to not shut down the bar in its entirety. Also, it seemed that the vendors that she highly recommended we hire would follow and confront our guests and report to BJ that they were drinking their own alcohol in the parking lot. After the wedding, we received an additional bill with hundreds of dollars for ridiculous charges i.e. $ 100 for cigarettes butts(BJ was seen many times smoking on our wedding night, and we smelled cigarette smoke in the venue house since our first visit). We also were charged with the cleaning fee even though on our wedding night we received approval of our cleaning performance from her staff before she would return our credit card. Overall, I would not recommend that you get married at this beautiful location unless you are prepared for lots of surprise charges and plans changing at the will of BJ’s mood.

Overnight guests beware! Honestfully I did not visit this winery. BUT!!! My son and daughter and their friends returned from her wedding celebration weekend shocked at the intense Disney paraphernalia everywhere and the Disney music playing most of the day. This was nothing compared to the poor and rude service. All people who went were shocked. The owner was horrible uptight and rude person. I wanted to share the numerous conversations I had with their friends and warn others to try to stay elsewhere. Not worth the time and agony. We were helping with cost and Surprise and questionable charges were excessive. This seems to have occurred with others. Beware!

Beautiful vineyard with breathtaking views. Furthermore, the owner BJ and her daughter Ashley were incredibly hospitable and kind. My husband and I stumbled on it to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary and our visit was truly special. We spent the whole afternoon there wine-tasting and chatting with BJ and Ashley. We had such a great time we even ended up canceling our dinner reservations! It was a truly magical place. I highly recommend it!

I would like to preface this by saying that this venue is very hard to find — if you get married here make sure to be reallllly clear with directions because there is no cell service. But once you find it, the drive is worth it! The place is absolutely BREATHTAKING! I attended a wedding here a a friend of the family and it was one of the most beautiful weddings of the 40+ that I have attended and photographed. The grounds were beautiful and clean and everything appeared to run incredibly smoothly. I would highly recommend this venue to any bride looking for a very beautiful and classy place for their wedding.

I love Rome Valley Vineyards. Our wedding there last October was everything I’d ever dreamed it would be. Not only was the setting breathtaking, on top of a hill surrounded by vines, but I was pleasantly surprised at how willing BJ was to work with our budget and also our vision. Rome Valley is a venue only, but BJ helped us coordinate rentals, a DJ, a valet service. And she was so sweet and helpful. She and her daughter made us feel like we were at our second home whenever we’d come up for anything. They even helped me pick out my wedding shoes! I would highly recommend this venue for the friendly staff, the amazing view, the versatility of the venue(you can do anything from a sleek and sophisticated to a country hoe-down wedding here), the delicious wine(try the White Lotus. It’s AMAZING!) and the overall feel that you’re more than just another client.

brides beware! she will not want to give you prices in writing, only verbally and then right before the wedding she will email you list of the charges not discussed! hidden fees!!! $ 2,000 for staff? how is that possible for a guest list of 65 people and an outside caterer is bringing in servers, which is completely separate from the venue.
