Beautiful winery up in the foothills. Really easy to get to off Highway 50 and a great stop on your way up the mountain! The tasting is $ 5 for 6 wines or $ 15 for reserve tasting which includes a stemless glass you can take home. Tasting fee is refunded if you purchase a bottle or more! Grounds and tasting room are inviting and look like a great place for a picnic(it was raining when we went). Sue in the tasting room was so friendly and has been around the winery for 30 some years so had lots of knowledge to share! Pretty solid lineup of varietals although I was not a big fan of their Pinot(a bit of a Pinot snob myself) but liked the Zins and a few others.

One of the most beautiful tasting rooms and grounds in the area with a fabulous variety of wine, fun events, knowledgeable staff, and lots of great gifts(for yourself or others).

I love this place. I discovered their«Sippin Sunset“a few years ago and have been coming back ever since. I stopped in yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to find a nice crowd who were having a preview of next years release. They do have a wine club here if you are interested. Their grounds are beautiful with picnic tables throughout. If heading to So Tahoe it is worth the stop less than 5 minutes off 50.

Having fallen for Boeger back in 2010 when I first tasted one of their excellent Barberas, I am sad I didn’t visit before they started charging for tasting. Still, you get a free glass with the reserve tasting, and the fee for the regular tasting is waved if you buy a bottle of non reserve wine. Not bad, all in all. I went on a double to Apple Hill this past weekend, and Boeger was our last stop. This place was definitely the place to be, and the tasting room was crowded. Staff remained undaunted by this though, and we were attended to without much of a wait. My boyfriend and I went for the reserve tasting, which included about 7 select wines, including the Walker Zinfandel, which may be the best zin I’ve ever tasted. Seriously jammy with a bit of spice. Boeger Migliore Reserve and the Boeger Barbera were also remarkably complex. Many different tastes to experience in just the one sip. It was fun to learn about the background for the varietal names and the Boeger family history. The folks here are knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous here. The leaves are turning, unlike Sacramento Droughtland, so that was really enjoyable to see. Plenty of romantic photo ops around, including trails, logs for sitting, a rusted old jalopy, and a cute little blacksmithy barn. This would be a great place to do engagement photos. Just sayin.’ There’s a bit of parking in the back behind the tasting room, thought be wary that the steep driveway is a little narrow. I’m not sure two full size cars can pass by each other on it, and luckily we didn’t get to find out. I will need to come back on a possibly less crowded day, though autumn is more than likely the opportune time to come and see the 360 degree beauty here.

The location and scenery is one of the best in Apple Hill. It’s beautiful and well kept. However, the tasting room is always busy and the servers cannot keep up very well. You will be waiting awkward periods between each wine selection during your tasting. They also ask for the money upfront which is unusual for tastings and takes away from the«luxurious» feeling wine tasting provides.

Beautiful winery in Apple Hill. Amazing time, great tasting and super friendly staff. Large tasting toom. Great for large groups!!! Pack a lunch and come up here to sit by the pond, under the trees and enjoy the sights, sounds, great wine, and make some life long memories. They do have a gift and snack shop so don’t worry if you get up there and wish you had some salami, cheese and crackers. They got you covered. A must stop!

A very beautiful winery to stop by on your trek through Apple Hill. The wine tasting gives you 6 tastes for $ 5, which is refundable if you purchase one of their wines. They have a premium tasting for $ 10 which has the added perk of taking home one of their gorgeous little wine glasses. The wine lineup is impressive and I enjoyed them all. Their signature BarBearA was very impressive. The grounds are full of picnic tables shaded by large trees and amazing views of their grape vines. Great place to have some nice food with your bottle of wine. Highly recommend stopping in if you’re looking for a break on your Apple Hill adventure.

Great grounds and decent wine but the service was insultingly bad. I actually walked out before finishing my tasting. My ‘wine server’ couldn’t be bothered to pour my wines past my first glass. Best part is, she made me pay for my tasting up front. Who does that? I guess since I already paid she didn’t need to worry when I eventually walked out after being ignored. I was ready to buy a case except I couldn’t get anyone to help me. I was at the mercy of getting the attention of the other servers. I expressed my concern over the lack of service to another server and that didn’t nothing to solve the problem. I waited for 7 minutes, less than three feet from my original server for another pour and decided to just leave. She was too busy talking to another couple and I already paid so she couldn’t be bothered. The pours were hilariously small too. Not coming back.

Cutest winery ever! Great tasting options available for those that just want to spend the $ 5 and get the original tastings or spend $ 10 and get the premium tasting selections along with a free glass! Cute little place with wonderful tasting room and a large picnic area! Sorry my son was climbing your stairs and making lots of noise! They sell crackers, cheese and meats for those that want some appetizers with your bottle of wine! Love this place and hope to be back for a picnic with friends along with a bottle of wine to enjoy.

Boeger Winery has been around for a long time producing wine in El Dorado County as anyone can tell who visits their sprawling property right off Carson Road. You probably have seen their vineyards hugging the hilly landscape on your way to Apple Hill, sometimes even coated with a dusting of snow around the holidays. This winery has invested a lot into a nice winery experience from their landscaped picnic garden area to a nice craftsman style tasting room. It is inside the tasting room that the friendly — but usually swamped — staff will help you through the rather large library of wines available for tasting. Boeger still offers free tastings of their standard wines with the reserve wines available for a fee. The reserve wines are very nice, but are mainly blends. I prefer blends, but many do not so be aware. They have a classic El Dorado taste with a focus on Italian and Rhone varietals, especially Barbera. The room gets very busy late in the day, so I recommend hitting Boeger as early as possible. During the October peak season, it may be impossible to even find a parking space. Come back during the holidays, and you will be rewarded with a much more relaxed and enjoyable wine experience. I have been a fan of Boeger for many years and can honestly recommend them as a stop on your El Dorado wine adventure.

We are here right now for their summer concert series but come here every time we come to town to visit. Beautiful area! Lovely place for photos or just for sitting around Anna enjoying a bottle of wine. I normal days, they give you six complimentary tastings. Right now it is super hot outside for the concert but that had nothing to do with the winery, just weather. We come back her everytime we are in town. We visot Placerville from Colorado, so this is great break for us!

You get 6 complimentary tastes when you stop in! Who can complain about that? Also, the bottles are reasonably priced and the people are great! The vineyard itself is beautiful! Highly recommend going there for a picnic! You can even purchase cheese and crackers there if you’d like.

This winery has a beautiful backdrop, serene garden and lovely pond. No kidding this must be one of the most beautiful winery’s in California! Such a tranquil place to enjoy time with friends and loved ones! Great selection of wine, lots of picnic tables and friendly staff that provide generous tasting. I’ve been here during the summer and fall and I have to say Fall was my favorite because the trees all change colors and your surrounded by natures color show.

One of the many wineries in apple hill area I have tried. This place is one of the closest to the Sacramento valley on a hillside. Beautiful grounds and room for one to bring a pet for a picnic. Staff is pleasant and prompt to helping. Several wine tasting offerings for a reasonable fee which is waived with purchase. One can also do a glass purchase of their favorites. The menu provides good descriptors on the tastings. Reserve wines are available with commemorative glass for 10 or 1 per tasting. We enjoyed most from the wine tasting. We also elected to try one from the reserve(as one choice is my favorite type). The regular tasting in whole had a range of choices. Reserve was not one of my favorites here. The tasting set offered a good mix we elected to purchase a bottle. Bill was settled without much hesitation. Average bottle of wine price was on par with the other wineries in area 20 – 40 Good: service, wine. Bad: nothing yet I’ll be back soon.

This winery is sooo pretty. I felt like I was transformed to France. Old buildings, great landscape, great views! This place has A LOT of character. The wine is great too. You must try the Barbera it is fantastic and at $ 16 a bottle it is a steal. You can taste 5 wines complementary or pay $ 10 and get a free glass(choice of 3 different glasses, 2 stemmed and one non-stemmed glass) plus the reserve tasting is free with purchase of glass. Otherwise its $ 1 per glass of their two reserve wines and no glass. The reserve Pinot Nior was good especially if you like the leather/earthy tones at the end. You can’t really go wrong here. Definitely put on the TOP of your list if your in the area.

Oh my goodness, so freakin’ ADORABLE!!! My first thought upon driving up. Seriously, so cute! They charge for tasting, but if you do the reserve tasting you get to keep the glass! Not bad, but when I was there I didn’t realize there was only ONE reserve to taste! Boo! But I got to keep my nice glass. They sell picnic supplies so you an enjoy the property. I might have to pack a picnic and buy the wine there next time! It was nice to just walk around too, so I recommend everyone to do that. The old cellar also is looks to be a tasting room, which wasn’t in operation when we went. It would be pretty cool once it is working. The blacksmith barn was closed too, but it was fun to walk around there. I can’t wait to be back!

Gorgeous property and no tasting fee! They let you taste 6 of their wines not including the reserves. If you want to try those it’s $ 10 but I think you get a wine glass to take home. I ended up buying a wine glass which was around $ 8. I typically like sweeter wines so I really only enjoyed their dessert wine. Their tasting room is pretty big and nicely decorated. The ladies working were very nice and informative. Outdoor seating area is lovely with a few picnic benches and lots of trees. We came on a weekday so it wasn’t crowded at all. This was a great place to end our day in apple hill.
