This to me is the house of tilapia fish… one of the main specialties is tilapia fish at 2.19 a pound. Appart from the great price on the fish they fry it for free approximately a 20 minute wait so they can fry your fish… The taste is perfect, they stripe it so that when u get your fish you can just dig in and get the meat… you can taste the freshness of the fish and that the oil is kept clean… They have a good variety of fresh fishes tilapia, robalo, red snapper, yellow tail snapper, catfish, and others… They Also Have Blue crabs, shrimp, octopus, clams, oysters. The market has many items from different places in the world starting from produce to frozen items. When u do visit you have to know what you want because people are going in and they will order right away. You don’t want to be the guy waiting and just looking at all the selection they have… To make it short if you want great tilapia and have it fried at a great price come here…

This might be owned and ran by Vietnamese but that doesn’t make it a Vietnamese market. Very few items were Vietnamese, went there looking for a few simple viet items and couldn’t find them. Was disappointed as it was a little out of the way and parking was tricky. The lot is decently sized but the entrance to the lot is complicated and if you blink you’ll pass it. I would say this is more of an international market instead. They had plenty of hispanic foods and seasonings, lots of indian spices and what not and their seafood seemed to be fresh but they just fell short in the Viet products. Ended up going to Ranch 99 instead.

Glad to find a place where I can buy Jamaican grocery. They are the best that I have found in LA so far. Prices are reasonable. Fish and meat is also available for purchase. Thanks!

The cashiers are friendly. The store lacks of a few items that are quite essential for ethnic food.

I absolutely love this place, the fruits, vegetables and all the West Indian products are amazing. The selection of seafood and the variety of fish is everything I hope for. I have been shopping at this spot for at 10 years. My reasoning for 4 stars is just simply because they need more help at the seafood counter.

my boyfriend is Jamaican and this is his favorite store. He gets everything he needs to make his delicious curry goat and fried fish. The only two things I would say they close early and the parking could be a lot better.

Dat Moi needs to have a better system for serving customers in their meat department. I stood at the counter for 45 minutes while three different butchers served the same two customers who were together. Each time one butcher came back with their meat, the customers ha e them another piece to cut with I regard for the other people waiting to be served. It’s just a zoo. And many of the customers are rude!!! Dat Moi needs to try using numbers so they will know who is next to be served. Feels so far removed from civilization… or maybe I’m just in the wrong neighborhood.

The only problem with this place is that they close early. Otherwise its the best place to get tasty selection of fish. A person will also fry the fish you buy on the spot. They have a big selection in international food, i.e. African and Caribbean items that are hard to find elsewhere. Its one of my favorite markets in los angeles!

Compare to Asian Market at San Gabriel valley. This is much smaller scale. But I get what I want for few days before I go to San Gariel Valley

Yes, yes, and yes! This is the closest place I could find to get Jamaican food: ackee, saltfish, and Jamaican patties(in the frozen section). I got my ingredients to make Jamaican rice & peas and even picked up some Jamaican kolas. Pricey for sure; however, everything I bought was imported so it’s what I expected. I was very happy with my haul and will be coming back to get all of my Jamaican goods.

I came here on the recommendation from my boss. Parking is a little weird since its only street parking on a busy street or on the side? It looks super sketch. The market is small compared to the giant 99 Ranch or Mitsuwa. They do manage to have all the necessary South East Asian ingredients. There was a line for the meat and seafood. I took a look and their meat didn’t look all that fresh. I would come here if I was missing a specialized ingredient but not to do my entire grocery shopping.

This market is awesome! I love a great ethnic market and this place makes me happy! I was in the mood to make some Vietnamese Phở and a manicurist at a salon I went to recommended this market. The staff are friendly and helpful… I told one of the store clerks I was making Beef Phở and he helped me find everything I needed :) The prices here are very affordable too! Besides Vietnamese grocery items, I also found many authentic Thai & Jamaican items as well. There are lots of canned imported pantry items like Phở canned broth & dry seasoning packets; Thai seasonings & pastes for dishes like Tom Yum Soup, Spicy Basil Chicken, Pad Thai, Red or Green Curry, etc.; Jamaican Jerk Marinades, Festival Bread Mix, Scotch Bonnet pepper sauces, etc. There is also a meat & seafood counter with fresh oysters, shrimp, blue crab and LOTS of fresh fish(many unique varieties), beef, oxtails, pork, etc. The produce section, while small, had a great selection of items such as Thai Basil, Plantains and many exotic fruits and veggies that are hard to find. I also found fresh rice noodles, young coconut juice, iced chrysanthemum tea & thai iced tea in the dairy case. There were also lots of unique frozen meats, seafood and veggies also. I went home with all of the ingredients for my «lazy» Beef Phở and it was pretty good! FYI I tried the large can of Phở broth and it was really salty, so you may want to dilute some of their broths with water before serving… also many of the items do have MSG but I decided to just ignore it this time :)

This is where I come to get fresh snow crab and shrimp for my gumbo. The snow crab clusters are always big and fresh and have the claw intact. I like that they are kept frozen vs thawed out on display. Although this place has a wide variety of seafood I pretty much stick to what I come for.

i am definitely a raging fan about this place hence my many photos. There are certain items that I can only find in this market… bammy, guinep, banana chips, salt fish, ackee and the list goes on. I love their selections of fresh meats and seafood. I love that I can select my meats then have them cut it anyway I want to. I usually come here for the exotics… goat, oxtail, chicken feet and when I’m craving freshly prepared fry fish. Yes after selecting your fish directly off the ice, for FREE, they’ll scale, clean and fry it while you finish up your shopping. WoW! What a great way to keep me coming back.

Finally a market that caters to many of the smaller ethnic cultures that reside in southern Cali! Whether Vietnamese, Jamaican, African, Hispanic or you just want some fresh fish this is the place to shop! I’m here atleast once every two weeks picking up some Jamaican foods or products. Keep in mind that it gets crowded on the weekend and they close Chinese New Year!

I’ve come into the market a couple times to specifically buy fresh fish and get it fried. It’s a good place to come to for the fish and for the price. The prices are very cheap and you can get a few whole fish cut and fried for you at a very reasonable price. The variety of fish they have here to choose from is pretty diverse, which allows for a better selection. On one occasion my fish was a little under cooked for my liking so you may want to request the fish to be fried extra crispy. That usually gives you a nice fry to the fish. All seafood does seem to be very fresh and being that this is a market, the rest of the things you may need are readily available right there as well. This is a cool place to come to when you are in the mood to have some fresh fried fish. This place is definitely above average. Good but not great…

Go to spot for some fried fish. Small store with a wide variety of seafood items. My go to item is the tilapia and they fry it for free. They have some exotic food items for their Caribbean and Asian customers.

Small market that caters to all your Asian, Caribbean, African, and Hispanic food needs. This was my first visit here, so I peak around a bit. I noticed tons of fresh seafood and other«exotic» meats. I ended up coming out Dat Moi with a box of frozen Jamaican Spicy Beef Patties, but I’ll be back to pick up jerk seasoning(I need to learn how to make my own jerk chicken… these Jamaican restaurants are too damn high).
