Our Place

Was not the cleanest place, but food was good, staff was friendly, service was quick and with a smile. Alway asked if we needed anything else. Would definitely go back over and over again.

Food was excellent. Family atmosphere. Very welcoming. Black eyed pea salad was yummy.

This restaurant is AWESOME! Once you go to Our Place you will always go back again and again. The food (No matter what you get) is always good and always consistent. Another great thing about Our Place are the prices of the food. They are without question one of the most reasonably priced restaurants anywhere around this area. The best thing about Our Place is the atmosphere! Everyone there is so friendly including the customers that come in! It is a definite must go to for lunch…

Great down home Southern feel. The food is phenomenal. Whether just passing through or looking for a regular breakfast or lunch spot, this is the place for you.

This little gem is off the beaten path but is absolutely worth going a little out of the way. The turkey bacon ranch sandwich or the Evelyn’s special are both delicious. The homemade ranch is a good dipping sauce for any of the items but especially good withy the fries. The staff is always very friendly. Definitely would recommend to anyone passing through the Gardendale area.

Chicken salad is really good. Also Evelyn’s special is so yummy. It’s the place the locals go to. It’s always crowded at lunch.

Food was pretty good, and cheap.
I was traveling and wanted to get something local.
It was little hard to find, but it was worth it.

I can understand why this is a favorite among locals. Casual atmosphere, down-​to-​earth staff. We laughed as we sat there listening to the announcement of patrons they saw coming in from the parking lot. They seemed to know the names of everyone that came in.
We came for breakfast. Inexpensive.
We each got biscuit and gravy. I got scrambled eggs and my husband got the hashbrowns and some sausage.
The biscuit and gravy are the type I like– a little sausage flavor from the drippings used to make the gravy but no sausage. My husband prefers his with sausage crumbled in it so he wasn’t as pleased.
My eggs had a good flavor but were a little over done for my liking.
The hashbrowns were the basic frozen, patty style. I know the hubby would have much rather had Waffle House style.
I asked him if he liked his sausage and he said «I mean it tastes like sausage, it’s hard to mess up sausage».
So in summary, our breakfast was just ok. We both agreed we wanted to come back for lunch. The atmosphere was just too great to let a place like this be un-​patronized.
Their hours are short so make sure you don’t go without making sure they’re open.

Unilocal helped us find this place on a Sat morning when Waffle House was packed with, soon to be sad Bama Fans (LSU#1 — Bama #2) .
The folks that run/​own Our Place were super friendly. We ate a very good breakfast (real bacon) with decent coffee. My only knock is the styrofoam plates and plastic forks, although I would go back in a heartbeat. Prices are very affordable and it is a great value for your money.

Our Place is a locally owned breakfast and lunch restaurant. The omelets and Po-​boys are excellent. My favorite is the Evelyn’s special. A toasted roast beef Po-​boy with provolone and grilled onions. Everyone is pleasant and nice. It is a great experience all around!
