Very good tacos and chicken sandwiches. you get free chips and salsa on Taco Tuesdays, even if you don’t order tacos!

The breakfast is not what I was hoping for. My waitress would walk by and just smile? There are better places in town. This is a bar primarily and not a family atmosphere.

OK, heard the food was good, so I thought I would give it a try. Ummm… well let’s just say that my brother and I walked into the place sat down. Didn’t even get a waitress to take our drink order for about 20mins. To top that off we both ordered the steak fajitas. I was so excited to eat. And well not only did I find one blonde hair I found two all mingled inside my food. Almost about to barf. Our waitress NEVER came back. I had to go get her. I was even descent enough to take her to the side and whisper it. She PROCEEDED to say. «OK, I’ll be over.» Nope that wasn’t the case it took her another 15mins to come over. She kept taking care of other people and really didn’t care to come to us. Ugh, let’s just say. I will NEVERNEVER eat there. I’ll probably never go there either. TERRIBLEBUSINESS, TERRIBLEHAIRYFOOD! I’LLPASS.

We eat here about once a month and you have good days and a lot of bad days. We have walked out two times this year just because nobody would wait on us. This last time takes the cake, we ordered our drinks, then waited and waited, then another waitress came buy and wanted to take our drink order, then finally we after waiting for ever we ordered our food, 30 min later I asked if my beer was ever going to get here, and saw my fries sitting in the kitchen for another 30 min, then she brought us our drinks and told us we would get free desert for our wait, when we finally got our food our fries were cold as hell, and the order was f up. And for all the problems we got a free slice of old cake to split between four of us.

This is just what you would expect from a bar/grill located in a strip of businesses in Gardner, KS. The former«Wally’s» has taken the Rooster’s name but not changed any of the Wally’s nostalgic memoribilia inside the bar. Roosters is a feel good place for a beer and a some big portiioned burgers, nachos, and steaks. In this tightly knit community, most people know everyone else in the bar and it brings a sense of camraderie and friendship. Good drink specials — 2.75 domestic bottles on Friday nights, and equally good food specials(9 dollar strip steak special on Fridays — that’s crazy!) There’s a rough side to Roosters that could scare away outsiders. The men’s room is complete with naked caricatures of women carved into the wood, Sharpied insults slung at community members, and Skoal waste coating the toilet rings. My wife tells me the ladies room was nice with new wallpaper. It’s quite a drive for me and I wouldn’t go back under normal circumstances that didn’t involve hanging out with my wife’s co-workers. A good joint regardless and a fun time for all.

My extended family ate a birthday celebration breakfast at Rooster’s Bar and Grill in Gardner, KS on Sunday, February 5. While a bar and grill doesn’t feel like the ideal place to grab breakfast, Rooster’s seems to put on a decent show. It might be the best place left serving breakfast in G-town, as there are no traditional mom and pop breakfast shops. There was ample seating and the restaurant was bustling with guests. Our server did a good job handling our large party of 12 and was attentive. I ordered the ½ order of B&G with a side of fried potatoes. There was some confusion as to what the potatoes were called(home fries, fried potatoes… IDK what they’re called, they were crispy and good). The biscuit was huge. I’m not sure if the gravy is 100 percent homemade or Sysco, but it is full of sausage and it was good. Everyone at the table seemed to be pleased with their meals, especially the HUGE breakfast burrito(enough for at least two people). Would I go back? Sure, the next time our family celebrates a birthday in Gardner, I’ll be there.
