And here is another example as to why to go anywhere but here… a friend of mine(older man) fell, went to the ER, they took xrays and said he fractured one rib. He was sent home in lots of pain, only to find out that he actually fractured 6(yes, count em’, 6) ribs. Yikes, kinda scary that there are always so many problems with this facility.

Went to the ER for a stomach virus. Staff was very friendly and they gave me enough time to rest so I can go home. Thanks ER staff.

I have been through almost every department from the lab, imaging, surgery and physical therapy all very good. But as some have noted they charge almost 3x-10x what other places charge for things so make sure you have very good insurance! And make sure you stay on top of their billing department because I have had a lot of issues there. As far as the ER goes it is just so so. The triage nurse and the front staff are great! But the doctors act like they are doing you a favor to see you. I went in for seizures(twice in 2 days) and the doctor only saw me once then mostly dealt with the nurses which are very good.(Then they sent me to Renown in Reno which is the absolute worst joke of a hospital I have EVER been to!!!) I ended up back in for a concussion a few weeks later and was seen by another doctor and was treated extremely well. This is coming from someone who has been to almost every hospital in Northern Nevada.(I have Parkinson’s so I fall a lot) I would rate them higher if they would figure out their billing/cost issues. Also they don’t have any Rheumatologists or Neurologists associated with them.(they do have relations with Barton in Lake Tahoe and TERRIBLE Renown in Reno)

Some nurses with bad attitudes who are defensive and don’t like to be questioned, even so very nicely, about meds and care, oxygen, doctor’s orders, etc. Very, very unhappy med-surg unit clerk Monica who should really find a job in government work somewhere, as that’s where her attitude belongs. There are a handful of higher level nurses-supervisors who go that extra mile for anyone. And some floor RNs as well. There are a handful of CNA’s who, as well, just do whatever it takes to do the job … Linda … and have a great bedside manner at the same time. Generally there’s poor communication with the family about Rx meds given. You have to chase down the RN or wait for her to find time for you … understably they are busy with other patients … but this information shouldn’t be so mysterious and hard to get. Never posted in the room. And a family member should not be faced with a bad or defensive attitude from the nurse or CNA when there are legitimate questions about the care of a loved one. The hateful ones with defensive natures can spoil the experience. They should find jobs elsewhere.

This review is ONLY for the lab, specifically the plebotomists.(I’ve had surgery here, and the experience was okay as far as this kind of distasteful process goes — 3 stars — but I’m not rating that.) I’ve had some medical adventures over the past few years, but I’m still a total wimp about needles. Now, lucky me, I get to have blood drawn at least once each year as part of my follow-up. I know, this is NO big deal for most adults, but I’m a needlephobe. When I go into the lab, I tell the technician that I should lie down for the blood draw, since once I passed out during this. They always reply that it’s no big deal, and then they work FAST. They chat to distract me, and then, BINGO, they’re DONE! Seriously, I’ve NEVER felt the jab part of the blood draw. These guys(gals, actually) are AMAZING.
