This restaurant has been through the ringer with changes. It almost went out of business a few times, but for about 20 years or so, they have fed my daughter and myself with their delicious fixings! I always get the Garlic Chicken and sometimes I combine it with Beef with Broccoli, while other times it’s paired with Orange Chicken. My younger daughter got the Sweet and Sour Chicken and shared it with my Granddaughter. It was plenty for the two of them, and leftovers for Dad/Papa. My whole family likes the food here, but since we moved to the next city, it is not often that we get to this area to eat. I wish the folks at China Star a wonderful run that continues for another 20+ years!

I have been ordering from China Star for 20 years. The food is always great. Once, a new girl got my order wrong, but Ms Mei immediately took care of that. I love the«Four Treasures» dinner, bbq ribs, spring rolls, meat egg rolls, combo fried rice, garlic beef… the crab legs are good too. One of my favorite delivery choices, and my definite for Chinese.

Expensive but the portions are huge. The quality of the food is extremely fresh to order I love this place we order all the time… #1 in Garland

The BOSS Mei Lu is the most obnoxious, rude lady I have ever met. She works her employees like they are her slave. Doesn’t put on air condition for them at all, imagine all the SWEAT and DIRT that gets into your food people. She picks things off of the ground and will put it back in your plate. The worst thing I’ve seen was her picking our shrimps, meats from other customers plate that they didn’t finish and saving it. That’s gross. You can catch a disease like that. Really I give this PLACE nothing. Customers should be treated like you were cooking for yourself. Clean. Instead of going to China so much, she should invest in having a more hygienic, and clean place for her customers.

Well after several years of ordering from China Star, I have to say that the quality of the food has gone downhill. Way too much sauce, low to medium quality meats, almost bordering on mystery meat. The past few times I have ordered its been nasty and left me with an upset stomach the next day. Our friend who has lived here for decades also said the same thing. I think the food has gotten bad as a result of having too many items on the menu. They now serve sushi, cajun, buffalo wings, sausage, corn, fried mushrooms? I have no clue what to order from this place anymore. It’s all a really bad mashup of foods.

I am not sure why anybody would order from this place but I guess if this is what your use to you don’t know better! This is not good Chinese food at all, in fact I have tried this place three times and I am ashamed that I done that! The young lady who took my order was rude very rude and seems like she had a problem with me needing a straw for my water and napkin for my food which i should have already had those things automatically given to me when I sat and ordered something. The first time I went it was a different person doing my order she asked how I liked the food I told her it was awful! The rice was this light color bland no taste no nothing on it at all, I had egg foo yung it was the worst ever i kept getting gigantic pieces of onions no meat the plate looked like a child had plated in it I couldn’t even eat it. However, the Wanton soup I had was good. The second time I just had egg rolls, oh wait, spring rolls they don’t really do authentic egg rolls in Texas they always serve those small skinny spring rolls. I’m from Michigan they serve egg rolls that are big and real fried rice with color and bean sprouts in it, here in Texas I haven’t seen a Chinese place fry the rice right yet! The third time I went going off the suggestion of the first waitress she told me to come back and try kung Pao so I did, I don’t know what it is but not one Chinese place in the area uses white meat they use all chicken thighs and I don’t want to be paying for chicken thighs as much as this stuff cost I need some white meat in my life! I was disappointed again! This place is awful I can’t do it again! I’m officially giving up on finding good Chinese food in Texas. I love my home state where they do good Chinese food! This not a fancy place in the inside they have a couple big screen TV’s if you ask for a soda you get a can no straw at least I didn’t until I asked for it. I will not recommend this place!

I recently ordered their Mongolian beef and it was awesome. My husband, who isn’t a fan of most Asian food, liked it as well. Tonight I ordered the spicy tuna roll and while it was very small, it wasn’t bad. I was expecting uramaki(rice rolled on the outside) but it came maki style(seaweed outside). I didn’t think to specify my preference. Anyhow, I ordered everything for delivery and it all came well packaged with the hot stuff separate from the sushi. My original rating was 3 stars but I bumped it to 4 because the Mongolian beef was that good.

Have been coming here for 14 years. Prices have hardly changed since then. Great quality of food and friendly, helpful service. Now live near downtown Dallas and still haven’t found Chinese food comparable with China Star in price or food quality. LOVEIT!!! Any time in the area, I always stop to get some!

Like their sushi menu, good price, but fresh and good selection. They have a Buffett my husband loves and it’s cheap and normal Chinese Buffett style. Buffett is always stocked with fresh food. Good service, clean atmosphere.

This place looks like it took over the building of a fast food joint, likely a Burger King or Wendy’s. I would’ve never walked in the door if it wasn’t for my sister recommending it as a quick lunch. Most of the customers coming in had just attended Sunday service like we had. I didn’t see a buffet when I came in like someone else described. They serve sushi, and it honestly looked fresh, but I wasn’t about to try it in that setting. Instead, we got a few lunch combos, $ 5 each. It was surprisingly good quality and quantity given the price. Thai curry, general tso’s chicken, sweet/sour chicken were all quite decent and came with a spring roll. I would probably eat there again if I was in the area.

My review is for their sushi menu only. I’ve had their other entrees once or twice but they don’t seem to be able to cook without chicken broth and as a vegetarian, I find that ridiculous. Not ridiculous because they use chicken broth, but crazy because their food tastes like crap without it. They even gave me attitude over the phone for wanting it left out. In other words, they can’t cook vegetarian Chinese cuisine like a few other restaurants can in the area. Hell, I make better veggie fried rice than they do, and I didn’t need a can of liquified chicken to make it either. That said: Their avocado rolls and their cucumber rolls are the best I’ve ever had in Garland or Texas for that matter. The prices were really great too. The rice is perfect, the vegetables are fresh and they don’t skimp on the ginger. Their spring rolls(fried) are delicious as well. Well worth the buck per roll in my opinion. So this review is for their veggie sushi menu only. I haven’t had much else on the menu. If you’re vegan, order their veggie sushi, you won’t regret it.

$ 4.99 for all you can eat Chinese… and not on a stale old buffet table, they take your order from a menu and make everything fresh — as much as you want. Includes water or ice tea. Sodas extra. 9 of 10 on service 9 of 10 on value 7 of 10 on food quality 5 of 10 on atmosphere Service is amazing. They are very friendly and keep offering to get you more food, or ask if you would like to try something else, or offering ice cream and fortune cookies for dessert. Value is amazing — as much food as you want, and as many different plates or appetizers for $ 5. The food isn’t the best I’ve ever had, but for $ 5 it’s the best I’ve ever had. Everything is good and freshly prepared(the home made spring rolls are amazing, and try a chicken teriyaki stick appetizer). Atmosphere is nothing exciting. Just a hole in the wall in a strip mall. They also have sushi available at very reasonable prices, and I’ve heard pretty good quality.
