Love this place. Out of all the Phở places in Garland this is my favorite. The ingredient they have that other Phở restaurants don’t is Red Vinegar, it gives the Phở the a great flavor. If you’re a Phở fan this is a must try.

Best hu tieu in town! I tried the other restaurant near by today(My Tho) and I was glad to finally make a fair review that this place is the better one. The broth is very good and I can tell it’s been simmering with tons of flavor compared to the other restaurant(the other place’s broth tasted like it was made with powder mix– I just didn’t like it). Always have and always will come back!

Hu Tieu Mi Vietnamese Restaurant is a Vietnamese restaurant along Garland’s Walnut St. that specializes in Hu Tieu(Noodle Soup in Pork Broth). They also have a full Vietnamese menu with eggrolls, phở, and more. This review focuses mainly on their Hu Tieu. My Overall Rating — 2 ½ Stars(Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere — Hu Tieu Mi Vietnamese Restaurant is a pretty sizable restaurant. You’ll find a mix of booths & tables, and it appears they can be set up for outdoor seating but they don’t have any actual tables/chairs outside. It’s pretty much a no frills affair. One interesting note, there is another restaurant called My Tho or Hu Tieu My Tho that also specializes in hu tieu. This is not that restaurant but they’re pretty close so you make sure you’re looking for the right one. ½ Star. Service — Like the atmosphere, the service is very typical of Vietnamese restaurants. You’ll place your order almost as soon as you sit down, food comes out super-fast, and the next time you see the staff will be to pay. Don’t expect follow ups, drink refills, or any extra touches. This is the norm for these restaurants, so you have to have those expectations going in. Point for speed and not being bad. ½ Star. Food — We started with egg rolls. They use egg wrapper vs. rice wrapper. Not as crispy as I would have liked & not served with green leaf lettuce to dip with nuoc mam(fish sauce). Boo. The hu tieu, on the other hand was much better. The portions are large, the glass noodles tender, and the broth is extremely flavorful. It’s not salty or overly powerful, and it’s a nice, clear broth. The hu tieu also comes with plenty of spring onions cut in strips(not diced). Another bonus is the #1 hu tieu comes with cuttlefish & shrimp which both add nice texture & seafood element. The cooked pork slices were a bit over cooked & tough. And while the shrimp was nice, I couldn’t help but compare it to My Tho’s hu tieu, which adds a flash fried shrimp to their bowl. Overall still a nice bowl of hu tieu. 1 Star. Will I Return? — Probably. I will pass on the egg rolls but their hu tieu is solid. But I think My Tho’s version is better. But they have a large menu that I have yet to try other items. ½ Star. My Unilocal Rating Scale(Sum of all parts): 1 Star — Atmosphere — Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I’ll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star — Service — You can have a great meal with bad service. But that’s also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It’s important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars — Food — I’ll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it’s really all about the food. 1 Star — Will I come back? — If I know for a fact I’ll return, I’ll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food(2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Unilocal score.

The food came out fast. The sauce for my Hu Tieu was bland. I added more Sriracha and tuong but it still didn’t fix it. The bun and everything else was cooked perfectly. The sauce though was disappointing. I think this is the only Hu Tieu place I’ve seen so far in Dallas.

This is the 4th time I’m here because of my friend, the food it’s decent, the service always weird. I feel like the waiter n waitress doesn’t want to serve you. The place always so dirty. Food all over the floor n trashy looking. Sure hope their kitchen is clean. Sure hope health department straighten this problem.

This place is delicious! Don’t let the building scare you away or the inside! The restaurant doesn’t look nice but the food is great! I come here for one thing, hu tieu! The broth is flavorful. They also put fried pork belly in each bowl that just completes the dish! My friends say the phở and bun bo hue is good, too.

Best Hu Tieu! I love this place and it definitely lives up to the name. The restaurant is very small and a hole in the wall type of feel. The staff is very nice but they speak very little English which is fine because I can communicate in Vietnamese. The menus are small and simple. Upon arrival I was seated immediately, with clean menus. I ordered Hu Tieu of course and I chose to get it dry. My friend recommended this place and told me I should definitely try it dry and man I’m so glad that I did. It was wonderful and very authentic. The restaurant is a bit dirty but it doesn’t seem too bad. Maybe a bit dusting and up to date remodeling would do. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great customer service.

By far the best Hu Tieu specialty dish in the DFW area. I usually like to order the Hu Tieu with meat, shrimp and squid added. Sometimes I like to switch up and get the Hu Tieu with duck meat and bamboo. Their broth is filled with flavor which makes it so delicious. When ordering the noodle bowls, you get to pick which noodles to add. I usually like to combine my bowl with the clear and egg noodle. What can I say, I wanted the best of both world. This would be the typical place where my dad would usually go to hangout with his friends. At least he knows where the good food is located.

My first time eating Hu Tieu was at this location. I’ve been back one other time and it is still very good. The broth is savory and they really try to cater to what you want. They’ve been accommodating to our requests for extra shallots/garlic. Will definitely be back.

I came here to eat and order to go about a dozen of times in the past few months. This is the best place for rice noodle soup(hu tieu) and egg noodle soup(mi). Don’t order anything else except these two. Phở is not their specialty so don’t order that. The wonton soup is all right, not the best compare to First BBQ Chinese. The portion is consider large for decent price. The broth is very favorable. My favorite is the clear rice noodle soup with shrimps and squids.

Eggs rolls were good. Glad they came with(3) instead of two. Phở was good too but I was thrown off by the soft, floppy, bean sprouts that had BLUE tips in the sprout. Not sure why this was, but it resembled MOLD to me(and knowing some restaurants re-use their veggies), it made it hard to eat and enjoy. I tried eating around the sprouts as I don’t like confrontation and didn’t want to complain or ask.(I work in a restaurants.) won’t be back bc I grossed myself out.

Hubby and I love this place. It’s a no frills restaurant but when we want«hu tieu» this is the place to be. This noodle dish can be served dry or as a soup. The broth is savory and always consistent. It’s a must if you are in the area!

I was the only white person in the building so I knew I was in the right place. I wasn’t in the mood for seafood so I went with the beef phở and it was good. In my mind, phở is phở. You got your broth, your meat, and your veggies. Kinda hard to mess it up. But it was good. I’ll be sure to come back and check out H1 for a real review.

We eat here every Sunday or at least 4 – 5 times a month. I love their ‘hu tieu’ noodle soup broth. I always order a side of ‘tep mo’ aka ‘pork fat’ to eat along, it’s fried golden crispy. I feel so guilty every time I chow down a side pork fats! But oh my, it’s so good!!! Canh bun or bun rieu is also good as well, I would highly recommend the food here. The reason why I give this place a 3 stars even though the food is delicious, because service is horrible. They will never refill your drinks, so drink it slowly! Also, the owner charges you everything. Small side of pork fats, extra vegetables, rau muong for your canh bun etc. And then… One time I asked the waitress how come hu tieu is only served with steamed bean sprouts and 2 pieces of lemon… What happened to the other vegetables? Her replies was,(I’ll translate in English) «my boss said the other vegetable is too expensive, so he cut it off, only bean sprouts from now on». I look at my husband and start to laugh.

Been here three times, each time for the Mi, aka ramen. Not the thick noodle Japanese kind, more like the thin egg noodle Chinese kind. I always get the shrimp ramen, seems healthier, I turn a blind eye towards the uncured bacon bits floating in the soup. Because it’s so good those bits. But if you want healthy, just ask they not put any in. Broth does not need me to season with any condiments. That’s how it should be. Meat is plentiful. Even when ordering shrimp. I hate places that skimp on meat. Noodles, they give you enough to be full, not enough to explode. Which is good, else I may not have a cue when to stop eating. It’s not always busy, has a feel of little-known-place. Been here for lunch and dinner, it may get somewhat busy but the service is still quick. I have tried the korean BBQ dish here, it’s average. Stick with the Mi, soups, anything water based.

This place is my favorite for phở. I order a beef phở(P3) every time. You can get a large bowl for $ 6.75. Worth it. I’ve never had issues with service before. The only issues I have with the employees is a language barrier. Their English is not the best, but you can just point to whatever you want in the menu. My drink order is always taken promptly. Food is a little slower to come out when they’re in their lunch rush. I usually go during their down times on Sundays. They have other things besides Phở if it’s not your thing or your friends aren’t about that life.

If you come here, come for the hu tieu. Nothing fancy about the place, and it’s located in the front of a ghetto and deserted strip mall. Service is nothing to rave about either — they take your order than they bring you your food. No muss, no fuss. The hu tieu, though, is the best in DFW! Broth is rich and full of flavor. It has a sweetness to it that seems to come from the natural flavors of the meat rather than from loading it with msg and sugar. Meat is usually tender and not overly dry. The portion sizes are decent, and they give you a good amount of meat relative to noodles. Whether you go with seafood or their other meats, you can’t go wrong. There are a variety of noodle options — thin or thick egg noodles, clear noodles, or vermicelli noodles. The thick egg noodles are my favorite! Great texture!

There’s a reason why they have hu tieu in their name. That’s their specialty! its the best hu tieu in town!!! I get the hu tieu my tho special. It comes with pork liver, shrimp, and squid. The broth is splurpable!!! Usually packed on weekends. Go before the church crowd at noon. You will get seated fast. They have usual things like egg rolls, spring rolls, phở, rice plates. But who goes to a hu tieu place to get phở or egg rolls? you have to get their specialty!!! it’s a nice change from eating phở every weekend. :)

That’s a great find! I had Hu Tieu soup with pork and shrimp. Large bowl, delicious lean pork and shrimp in a broth made with pork bones, accordingly to my Vietnamese friends. It has rice noodles in it and you can add lime juice, sriracha of course, some myioshi(bean sprouts) and a kind of Asian parsley. This is little bitter for me. The soup was very good– everybody loved it! Service was little caothic and slow because we were in a large group of almost 30 people, probably. It is a nice place to try if you are thinking in something other than phở. Maybe phở is good but apparently this place is known by Hu Tieu. It is those places you go for the food– a dive with no ambience but that really doesn’t matter if you want to eat good food with good friends! Overall a nice experience!
