Okay, so this place has really good reviews, but it seriously isn’t that great. It’s a bbq place, run by some Korean people. I’ve been here multiple times, mostly for work outings. A lot of food for your dollar? Absolutely. But this place is more about quantity than quality. I’ve tried the ribs, pork, beef, and sausage before, and all of lacked flavor, and wasn’t very hot. Every single time. The green beans are mediocre, the macaroni salad is decent, and the corn on the cob is edible. The loaded baked potato looks good, but I’ve never tried it. This isn’t a place I would write home about. There are so many better bbq joints in Dallas.

This is the worst bbq I’ve ever eaten. Dry, no smoke ring, no flavor. The sauce sucks. The 4 and 5 star reviews are B.S. They must be friends and family. It’s not ethical to lie on your reviews. I wasted my time and money coming here. Because of the fake reviews. I should have known better when they have fried rice as a side. I guess this passes for bbq in Korea.

Good food, great value, can’t lose. So Marshall’s will probably not be competing against Franklin’s for best brisket in Texas or win any awards, but they’re a great small, local barbecue restaurant that offers good food at a good price! My two meat dinner plate was stacked up with meat. Their sausage was good and their brisket doesn’t disappoint either. That plate was good for either one food coma, or almost two lunches for me. The Korean ladies behind the counter are friendly and offers quick service. This is a great place to come when you’re hungry and craving some quality barbecue. I will be back!

This place won’t be the best barbecue you’ve ever had in your life, but it will be pretty darn good barbecue for an awesome price! This shop is a tiny place in the middle of nowhere and would be easily missed if you weren’t looking. The décor is nothing special. They have tables, chairs, and a counter to order from — the basics of the basics. However, the customer service here is fantastic. The same lady works the counter every time I come here, and she is always going above and beyond to try and meet my needs. Also, the portion sizes are very generous. A two meat platter could probably be shared between two people. The barbecue itself is above average, but there is definitely better barbecue out there. What you can’t beat here is the price. If I remember correctly, a two meat platter is $ 9.99(it may be even cheaper), but you get so much food! They also have daily specials that you should look out for. If you’re craving good barbecue but don’t want to spend too much money, I would definitely recommend Marshall’s.

4.5 Okay… i know this isn’t near the top of the list for«Greatest BBQ joints in the Country»… but you know what? eff that list. I don’t care if there is no peppered bark on the brisket… or if the ribs look like they are par boiled and smoked… i don’t care if there’s fried rice available as a side… sometimes you just go to a place and you feel like you’re one of them. After my workout, i wanted a high protein meal… thanks to the cool Unilocal app, i was able to locate a bbq joint near me. I walk in and was confused… korean ladies are working the counter??? I make sure i’m at a BBQ joint and after confirmation, i go to the counter and order a two meat plate. I got brisket and turkey with grean beans and macaroni salad. Brisket — Don’t expect Lockhart style brisket… expect family friend’s backyard bbq cookout style brisket. The extremely friendly ahjumma cut me off some generous slices from the point section(moist section) of the brisket. Extremely tender and delicious with some application of their bbq sauce. Turkey — standard smoked deli style turkey meat. Nice saltiness with a delicate texture. It had get smoke flavor Green Beans — not overly cooked green beans cooked with some bacon. Macaroni Salad — Pasta had great texture and the dressing wasn’t overly sweet. It had nice pickled relish that added some crunch to the soft pasta. Marshall’s made me feel like one of their own… throwing me a free brownie since they saw i had just worked out real hard. Prices and portions are generous.

I made the trip to Garland to eat at Meshak’s. It had been too long. To my surprise it was closed on a Tuesday without warning. I checked Unilocal for other barbecue joints in the area. This joint had and 4.5 star rating based on 8 reviews. I find that Unilocalers usually have better judgement. This place was bad. This is easily the worst barbecue I found had in the state of Texas.

On the second day of the Texas BBQ Posse’s «DFW7 Tour», we planned on congregating at MeShack’s in Garland. At the end of May, Matt Gross and I had stopped by on the day the Texas Monthly Top 50 list was released. Unfortunately, MeShack’s had sold out by 2:30 pm. Matt and I solicited for a while, pestering the very patient lady at the window for any scraps, leftovers or «hidden stashes» they may have. I felt like a seedy drug addict in the bad part of town. People were still pulling up for Travis Mayes’ product as well and we started telling folks they were out, while selfishly hoping we would be handed anything to try. Nada. Travis came out to shoot the breeze with us for a bit and he said that«some days you love your job, but some days you wake up and you don’t love your job.» That day was a day he didn’t love his job and decided not to smoke as much meat. Disappointed. He had also entertained the idea of taking a few days off within the next couple of weeks… …Fast forward a couple weeks to present day. I was looking forward to my revisit of MeShack’s so I could have them hold the sauce this time and enjoy the naked meat. Well another disappointment came about as I parked my truck, walked up, and didn’t see any smoke or smell one whiff of pecan. The joint was closed. No notice. No sign. No explanation. Then my memory retrieved the conversation Matt and I had with Travis…“thinking of taking a few days off within the next couple of weeks.” Dammit. Our tour visit may have fallen into that«couple of weeks.» There was a joint right around the corner we decided to try. The name will not be mentioned but the high reviews on Unilocal confirm the abundance of ignorance which oozes on that site. Quotes such as «The sausage and brisket seemed pretty normal to me nothing out of the ordinary, but not bad. I think this BBQ joint is first place I’ve ever seen fried rice as a side, but it’s cool,» from a 4 star reviewer. Then you have a 5 star reviewer that proclaimed, «Everything here is good, but these items are particularly great. Like other reviewers have mentioned, the portions are generous and the price is right. Once you eat here you’ll never go back to Spring Creek BBQ or Dickey’s.» Speechless. After eating there once I’ll never go back period. Needless to say, I’m seriously questioning the origin of the grey slab of beef we ate. Along with the reheated and boiled ribs… which should be forgettable if not for being so bad. Jim Rossman of the Texas BBQ Posse uttered the words«Never speak of it again please.» Let’s just say Daniel Vaughn gave them 2 stars. I will give them nothing more than my $ 12.

I think I came on a Tuesday when I came here last and they had like a one meat special. Since I wanted two different meats the lady came some of each, but more like a lot of each. The sausage and brisket seemed pretty normal to me nothing out of the ordinary, but not bad. I think this BBQ joint is first place I’ve ever seen fried rice as a side, but it’s cool. I wasn’t that adventurous, so I stuck with my normal sides of cole slaw and mac salad. Their mac salad wasn’t too creamy like most places make it, I like. I’m glad these people aren’t militant about their portions or their daily specials. Good amount of food for a good price.

This place is a true find, and possibly the best dive in Garland(next to the Shell Gas Station Tacos off Miller Rd.) The Koreans that run it are as friendly and generous as any owners I’ve ever met. They do everything great here. It is simple, the way BBQ should be. I would STRONGLY suggest sticking to the chopped beef(brisket) sandwich and going with the macaroni salad and peach cobbler. Everything here is good, but these items are particularly great. Like other reviewers have mentioned, the portions are generous and the price is right. Once you eat here you’ll never go back to Spring Creek BBQ or Dickey’s.

Okay this place will throw u a twist. Actually owned by an old white guy at one time. Than one day Koreans(they didn’t change a thing). I’ve eaten here for years. The portions are generous. They have the Texas traditional vinegar base bbq sauce, on the spicy side. Brisket, potato salad, and beans… that’s what I like.

Marshalls is a great place for a good deal on BBQ but it does not taste of smoke in the brisket. The value, portions, and service are what make this place worth the visit. The food is just OK.

I drive past this joint ALL the time and I’ve never had a chance to stop. Saturday I stopped by to eat a late lunch. Much like my love of all things bacon cheeseburger related, I have a strong affinity for smokey meats. In my opinion, BBQ should be added to the food pyramid and if it wasn’t for those damn(insert the political party you hate the most) in Washington, it would have been done already! They had a two meat sandwich special on the menu that included a drink and one side for $ 7.13(w/tax). Not a bad deal. I chose sliced brisket and hot links. The hot links were meh… oddly tasting of Slim Jims. The brisket was decent, but not smokey at all. It was really tender and had a good, beefy flavor, but not the pink ring that you look for(TWHS) with good BBQ. Service was quick and friendly. The portions ginourmous. And the food good, but not great. 3 stars, but +1 for the value. Why pay $ 6 for a fast food meal when you can get much better quality from a local BBQ joint in the same time for only $ 1 more?

My favorite BBQ place when I visit the in-laws in Dallas. The owner is a sweet little Korean lady who keeps the regulars coming back with her hearty food, good sized portions, and the cozy, mom ‘n pop feel of the place. Love their hickory smoked brisket and ribs, corn on the cob, sweet ice tea, and peach cobbler!
