MARGS: Huge margaritas for only $ 4 at happy hour! These guys don’t skimp on the alcohol. Get here before 7 and enjoy! SALSA: A very high tomato tasting salsa with a nice kick of spice. Goes well with the chips which are not too salty. Happy hour chips and margaritas for $ 10. Can’t beat it.

Matts is a terrible excuse for mexican food. I would much rather take my family out for a nice quality meal at taco bell rather than take them out to eat this garbage. Matts is literally plasticy chewy mexican food that is sloppily thrown onto a plate and then they charge you way way more than they should. This place is an absolute joke, and I THOROUGHLY recommend going out to taco bell if you’re considering this pig sty of a restaurant bc the food is absolutely garbage. Hands down the worst«food» I have ever had the displeasure of having slide down my throat. Just thinking of 5he food makes me want to gag. Their queso literally tastes like someone bought kraft singles slices of cheese and melted it down. That’s it. Do not go Do not go Do not go Do not go. Oh, and DONOTGO. Absolutely awful. It was so bad that their location in allen couldn’t even stay open because they were serving trash and literally everyone hated it.

FIVESTARSALLTHEWAY! The Martinez Family has been doing Tex-Mex for many years and honestly they are the BEST! Chips are always warm and the hot sauce is always fresh. Enjoy a smooth margarita to go with those fish tacos or famous enchiladas. LOVETHISPLACE.

I really wanted to like this place! I had their chips & salsa at the taste of Firewheel & it was phenomenal! Hence the reason why they didn’t get a one star. Their queso, chips & salsa are YUM! Their service was great! Our server was Marc. He was very nice & professional. However, my fajitas were pretty disgusting :( I ordered mixed fajitas & they looked delicious! However, when I got my fajitas, they tasted like they were cooked & then the flavor was added, which wasn’t much & also wasn’t «Tex mex» it had an Asian hint to them, like stir fry. Just wasn’t a good experience, at least as far as food goes. I even left my plate 75% full of food. It was sad. & most certainly over priced for fajitas.

I ordered the beef fajitas and they were great! My husband ordered the shrimp Martinez and it was perfect! The margaritas were awesome! Our waiter Ramone«The Only One» was so good to us, I wish every waiter was like him! The bathrooms were really clean and spacious!

My wife and I tried Matt’s as we recently moved in down the street. We sat at the bar and had drinks and ordered food. The service was bad, the food was awful and the facility itself was dirty! The bar is cluttered and dirty. Bathrooms were gross and very in-maintained. To me, the bathroom is the window to the kitchen. If it’s dirty, it leaves an impression that the kitchen too is dirty.

Good food and the margarita was great but it was so loud that we had a hard time hearing each other. The waiter even had difficulty hearing our order!

Service was very friendly and great. We had a table of 16 and the two servers were perfect! Food was really good. I love their Catfish Martinez and grilled veggies.

Salsa 11⁄10 Chips 10⁄10 Service 10⁄10 Atmosphere 10⁄10 I got the #1 platter with a beef taco, pork tamale and a pork enchilada. The tamale was really great, the taco was average and I say this because the shell was not as light and crispy as I like mine to be. The enchilada was slightly above average, as far as the seasoning, but the chili sauce was really good. The beans were great but the rice was meh. Typical of most tex mex places I have been. Overall, though, I am satisfied with the visit!

Not sure if worth two stars. The food was not good, had little flavor and you could tell it had been frozen at one time. Wife flat out hated her meal. Not worth the dough we paid at all. The service was not good. The plus was we got sat right away and ease parking. Everything else not good. The appetizer was the only thing we liked. Sad because I had heard such good things.

I wanted to try this place for a while, but never actually got around to it. Now, I wish we hadn’t. I knew things would be bad when we were escorted to a dirty table with wet booth seats. We started off with the Bob Armstrong dip. It was pretty good, but came out slightly lukewarm. The chips were good, but somewhat greasy. The salsa wasn’t my favorite. I had the brisket fajitas. They were disgusting. Dried up pieces of nasty brisket that had been sitting out or microwaved for god knows how long. There were a few juicy pieces in there, but I would say 90% had been sitting under a heat lamp or microwaved. My wife had the«chicken fried steak». The reason I put it in quotes is because it was just a hamburger patty covered in gravy. It was pretty bad. The server was really cheerful and nice, but his service sucked. We were done with our food for about 15 minutes while he was sweeping the floor. We almost just left, but have a bit more integrity than that. This is one of the worst dining experiences we have had since moving to Garland 2 years ago. We spent $ 50 with the tip for this. I would have rather gone to Taco Bell 5 times.

Nothing beats the Bob Armstrong dip, just trust me!!! I’ve been a huge fan of the Lakewood location since the early 90s. This location is just as good if not better. Food is always consistently good. Chips are always piping hot and the wait staff does a great job. Food always tastes fresh. Great place for a casual dinner. Go on Tuesday night when their lunch specials apply to dinner as well! Give Matt’s a try!

Gosh. My first and last time! The food was kinda gross. Sooooooo bland. 3 of us. We shared apps. Queso, mushroom and spinach quesadillas, beef nachos and shrimp and avocado cocktail. Nothing was good. The floor was dirty. The plates were dirty. I must say that our waitress was awesome and took good care of us. But the food could have been from Taco Bell. And I have felt queasy since we left. Sorry matts! Clearly not everyone shares my opinion since it was pretty busy. Good luck! You can’t please everyone…

My favorite chips and salsa! Yum! and their chile relleno is fantastic! The raisins and pecan sound bizarre but the combination with the pepper and tomatillo sauce is amazing! Taste bud party! Instead of beans and rice, I always get the grilled veggies. They are delicious! The beans and rice are mediocre and not worth the calories. The service isn’t always the best, depending on your waiter/waitress. Nick & Marc are great! They’ll take good care of you! There is one waiter that is a little too rambunctious for me, loud and sassy, but he has toned it down some the last few months… However, I still try to avoid being sat in his section.

Being from Houston, this Restaurant was infront of my Hotel. If you are from out of town… this is Great Tex-Mex. Food is Good! Service will suck the Life out of you, though. Raul G. was are waiter. He has the personality of a Mechanic… You get in and get the heck out of here. Horrible… DONOTSITINRAUL’S SECTION! Then I told some young guy who look like a host, if he was the manager? He was and I explained how great the food was but how awful the service was. He just laughed ‚& laughed, and laughed. I am thinking… Really? This kid is a manager and laughs at their guest’s criticism??? That’s why I gave it 3 stars instead of 5. But the food is Good!

We ate at Matts initially in Austin. So glad one is in Garland! I love the tacos al carbon with the cheese dip it comes with. The jalapeño appetizers are good just prepare for hotness on those bad boys cuz they don’t taste light as far as the«kick» in them. I personally can only eat one but they are really good! Love the salsa too. The margaritas are really good and i think over all the price is on point for the menu selection provided for this restaurant.

Tonight was my first visit to Matt’s. Great food, great atmosphere, great service. Our waiter Amit was friendly and had excellent customer service skills. The manager came around and talked to each table. When I see a manager doing this, it speaks volumes to me. The chips are some of the best chips I’ve ever tasted. Looking forward to the next visit.
