Parkside At Firewheel

Renters beware. I moved out of the apartment 2 months before my lease ended. I paid all the fees and penalties prior to leaving the apartment. Fast forward 3 months later while I went away overseas, they sent me several bills asking for extra charges. When I came back I realized the bills were overdue. Before I left I spoke with the staff at the office I was given a final amount to pay including early termination fee. I thought that was all I had to pay. I was wrong. They came up with bogus charges including a late payment charge, which I disputed since I paid online as soon as I became aware of it. I got them to reverse that after showing them my proof. I also went ahead and paid whatever fees they thought I owed. The girl at the office also told me that they would send me a refund check for the overcharge. Fast forward 2 months now and I haven’t received my refund check but instead I got a collection letter asking for the same amount that I paid 2 months ago. I am trying to get a hold of the people at the office but no one seems to work there because I kept getting drop calls or busy signals. Also, the apartment was managed by Lincoln properties prior to changing to Watermelon. I think this may be the reason why they think I didn’t pay. Regardless, I’m considering legal action against this apartment management group or whoever it is that managing these apartments. To those who are considering living here, you have been warned.

The apartment itself is fine. Size, quality of life, and maintenance have been great. My only complaints are the terribly slow elevators in Phase 1, and the bad office hours and closing staff. Unless you work non traditional hours during the week, don’t expect to be able to pick up a package until the weekend (More specifically, Saturday, since they are closed on Sundays! On more than one occasion I have gone to the office in an attempt to pick up a package a few minutes after closing, only to be denied access. Each time it has always been the same woman (long dark hair) who has looked me in the eye and refused to take the less than 2 minutes necessary for me to grab a package. Absolutely terrible customer service on that end and inexcusable!!!
I live in phase 1 in a 2 bedroom, and if we sign a new lease they will raise our rent by over $ 100. It’s pretty pricey, which can’t really be justified unless your travel consists solely of Rowlett, Richardson and Garland. Yeah, it’s cool to live at the mall, but you also don’t have good access to any other freeways besides the tollway, which makes it difficult to travel economically. I probably wouldn’t recommend this place unless you work in the Garland/​Richardson area and don’t mind the constant congestion brought on by shoppers.

My husband and I were in fast paced search for a place to stay. We had sold our hous in 6 days and need to be out by the end of the month. Parkside at Firwheel has exactly what we need! We were greeted by Elisabetta and her great smile! They provided a great team, short lease, family friendly and pet friendly!!! We couldn’t ask for anything better! You get a good square footage and a great floorplan for a reasonable price! THANK YOU Parkside at Firewheel for being the best solution to our problem!

I wish there was an apartment like this everywhere I move. I’ve lived in many different apartment complexes and I have to say this one is my favorite so far. The girls in the office (not sure if they are still there) were all incredibly helpful and efficient. From move-​in to move-​out, I was fortunate enough not to have any problems.
I wanted their smallest 1-​bedroom/​studio that was on the 1^st floor. The only availability they had was on the 2^nd floor. At the time, I was still shopping around and I was really set on getting a 1^st floor room, so I just left. A day later, Christi called me to tell me she had contacted another tenant who was due to move in to the 1^st floor and asked if she would mind switching to the 2^nd floor. It turned out that tenant preferred that, so we were both able to get what we wanted. I did not expect the office to think twice about me after I left. I was really surprised she went out of her way to help. I had a smooth move-​in process, and during the year I was there I had no problems.
The apartment complex is right by the shopping center. There are a lot of places to eat and shop that is in walking distance. Even when the mall gets packed during the weekends, the apartment complex was pretty quiet. The parking was GREAT! I never had issues with visitors not being able to find parking. I didn’t have problems with noisy neighbors either (maybe I got lucky). The CAREs Team was also great. They randomly gave you gifts (box of cupcakes), just because. You are also able to pay your rent online– with no extra FEE!
I actually ended up breaking the lease early because of personal reasons. I needed to move to a different part of town. I ended up transferring to a different property manged by Lincoln Properties, so the fees were not too bad. The girls in the office took care of me until the very end.

I could not love parkside anymore than I do! We have lived here over a year and just renewed our lease! We actually lived here a year, then moved out in to a rent house for a bigger yard and a little more space but ended up moving back because we just love it so much! We have 2 kids and feel very safe here. The shopping mall in front of my door doesn’t hurt either ;) We will be moving in to a 3 bedroom next month since it opened up! And we plan on staying awhile! Cares team is fantastic! They always have great events (like free food at Chili’s, Cristina’s, SF Oven, Cookouts, and more!) The office staff is never anything but nice! I like being in a complex with friendly neighbors and staff that make you feel like friends instead of just a rent check like most other apartments do. Noise is minimal at best, we must just have great neighbors :)
