Wonderful little restaurant with charm and *really* good food. I had the«Bob Marley» wings, jerk pork, rice and peas, and fried okra. Everything was delicious. Spicy and flavorful without being overpowered. Portions were plentiful; I’ll be taking half my rice and pork to work tomorrow for lunch. .. and I ordered the small plate. The young man at the counter offered his take on what to try, was courteous and helpful, and doubled as the waiter who brought my food. I’ll be back. Soon.

I decided to finally try this place out since It is super close to me. The place is small, but you can tell it’s authentic. The wait was kind of long, but I think they were short staffed. The man who took my order was super nice. Now to the food… ITWASDELICIOUS! Very authentic! I ordered oxtail with fried okra, fried plantains and a beef Jamaican meat pie. Everything was delicious! The oxtail falls right off the bone! The fried okra was great. The plantain wasn’t fried during its peak ripeness but it’s okay still delicious. I will definitely be coming back with friends!

Second time visiting and afraid my last. Ordered wings and was not satisified. One of the flavors I ordered was cold, the others were not all that great. The young girl who took my order seemed so disinterested in being there so she she didnt make the experience any better. The Manager in charge did make it right though by dicounting my bill but the food was not even worth what I paid even though it was discounted.

A second visit to Wings and Tings Jamaican restaurant reinforced our love of their food. This time I had the delicious jerk chicken with plantains and steamed cabbage. I had a choice between sweet or not to sweet plantains. I choose the less ripe and they were perfect with the tender and spicy jerk chicken. My husband’s goat curry was savory and fell off the bones, just as before. The sides are all good. I had a sorrell and ginger bottled drink this time — tangy and great on ice. The Jamaican beef pattie is done well here, too. Table service is done by the same person who takes your order and helps to cook your food to order. Expect to spend some time here. We haven’t minded!

After several trips and now making it a goal to come here once a week… I absolutely love this place! The staff and owners remind me of what I love about my visit to Jamaica. Warm, inviting and delicious! I love the spirit and presence every time I enter this place! The food is great, the prices are perfect, free wifi, great vibes and music! What else could you ask for? I am definitely a fan and repeat customer! Glad I found this hidden treasure in Garland!

I’ve been dying to try this restaurant for a while ever since I moved to Texas. My girlfriend and I went overboard with the menu. We ordered Oxtails with mac&cheese and fried okra, Jerk Chicken with rice/beans and cabbage, Curry chicken with plantains and rice/bean. Everything was DELICIOUS!!! However I do have a few criticisms the cabbage tasted more like a steamed coleslaw and the rice was extremely dry. The oxtails were melt in your mouth tender(yummmmy) I didn’t taste the curry chicken as I am allergic to coconut(wasn’t aware if the used it in the sauce or not) As for the jerk chicken it was moist, tender and the sauce had the right amount of spiciness. They provide you with generous portions which is very much appreciated and their prices are reasonable.

I decided to take my two younger boys out for some mother son time. This was a quaint little place around the corner from our house the food was very good I ordered lemon pepper wings, barbecue wings and traditional rice and peas with curry chicken and fried Plaintain. The lemon pepper wings were off the chain awesome, the curry chicken and peas were as equally great I would definitely come back again. The service did take a little longer than expected however only because the food was that good once they got it to the table hot and fresh. The customer service was good. Although they only sell bottled drinks so even if you want water it will be bottled, I decided to get the boys in Arizona tea and I went for the ginger beer. There was also Dancehall reggae music playing in the background which really help with the ambience. I will definitely make my way there again even without the Groupon.

The place has a smell was the worst ever… you would think if a place smelled like that they would be closed till the problem is fixed… against my better judgment I decided to order thinking the food can’t be that bad… trying to remember if any other jamaican restaurants had a awful smell. but they dont… anyway waited 20 in for my 9.00 plate n it tasted like the place smelled. I was unable to eat it. I will never go back to this place ever. I had jerk chicken which I was thinking you really can’t mess up n boy was I wrong. The sides weren’t even good.

My hubby wanted Carribbean fast food so Carribbean fast food it is So we wanted to try a different place than«Carribbean grill» or «A taste of the islands» or «The island spot»(the older Guyanese lady that serves the food is so evil that I dare never to return there)… So we did a search and found this jewel of a place to dine. From the time we walked in, the Love and good vibes was felt. The lady that took our order was a doll! She saw my struggle with listening to my husband order and her talking about oxtails…((I wasn’t planning to eat. I was going to be good and drink my whey protein as I watch my hubby eat because I am on a strict diet) BUTALLOFTHATCHANGEDEXPEDITIOUSLY! I ordered the oxtails… then she gave us a sample of those delightful shushies that she makes. the GATORBITEWASTHE DELISH!!! So while waiting on our plate selections we noticed party flyers and began to get nosey… we noticed boat parties in the area and parties coming up and tomorrow. My husband is a Trini and they love to party. but being that we do not know too many Caribbean people… we hardly ever get out to party Well the lady that took our order(she and her husband are the owners of this place) she informed us of everything going on currently and what’s coming up and where to go. She was soo soo sweet!!! Finally our food came(we didn’t have to wait a long time) and it was very good! I would’ve likes for my oxtails to taste a little more seasoned but they were tender and satisfied my curiosity. My hubby liked his Snapper… everything was nice. We will go back to try the Jerk Chicken next time… I will let u know how that was as well… Very nice place though… Very clean and extremely welcoming!!!

I should have known better when I asked the man behind the counter what was«good» and he was slow to suggest something. I decided to be safe and order jerk and lemon pepper wings and peas/rice. Whatever was on the jerk chicken tasted like mud. The lemon pepper wings were the worst I have had anywhere, Carribean or not. I could not force myself to eat any of the ten dollar lunch, and the food was so bad, that when the employee asked me if I wanted a take out tray, I declined. Oh, the toilet in the restroom did not flush. And finally, as I was packing up to leave, a customer came in. She was on the phone, and she was speaking very loud, and her comments were vulgar, nasty, plain X rated. Until I said, «Excuse me!» the employee said nothing. Perhaps, I don’t know authentic Caribbean food; if this is it, forget it. I have eaten at Elaine’s and the Carribean Grill. I love both; this place is NOTHING like either of them.

I’ve been craving some BOMB! carribean food ever since I moved back to Dallas a few months ago from Atlanta, and Reggae Wings and Tings helped me satisfy my island craving. I ordered the Jerk Chicken, which came with 2 sides: Steamed Cabbage and of course my Rice and Peas. I also ordered a side of Plantains. Well… let me start by saying that the Jerk Chicken was seasoned really well, not overly spicy. I was a little confused by the sauce because I never had Jerk Chicken with some sort of Jerk BBQ Sauce smothered on top of my meat, but It wasn’t bad… I actually kind of liked it. The only disappointment was that my chicken was bit dry. I absolutely LOVED the plantains they were cooked to perfection. The cabbage was also delicious and well seasoned. The atmosphere was pretty cool too! You had the native islanders sitting outside the restaurant. There was this one older gentleman who was really nice as he jumped up to open the door for me, he even entertained me with a little«magic» card trick as I waited for my food. Oh let me not forget the soothing carribean music that made you feel like you were actually in Jamaica! I’m so glad that I found this little jewel in Garland, it is very rare to find any good authentic cuisine in the Garland /Rowlett area. I will definitely return to explore the rest of the menu!

I was extremely disappointed in this restaurant’s food and service. When I arrived a young girl took my order she lacked energy and spoke so low and soft that I had to ask her to repeat herself several times. Not sure if she was extremely shy or disinterested in helping her family with the restaurant. Anywho, I ordered the 10 piece wings with Jerk and Marley Sauce. I also had a beef patty, the pork jerk with mac n cheese and plaintains, and finally oxtails with red beans/rice and fried okra. The beef patty was standard, the wings were messy and nasty. Jerk sauce tasted like it came straight from the bottle. The oxtails were OK, mac n cheese came out cold even though I waited 25 minutes for my food, the plaintains were good – sweet not fried just like I like them. Okra lacked any seasoning at all, and the red beans and rice were slightly below average but improved some with the addition of salt. Definitely not worth the drive to Garland for that mess but luckily I had a hair appointment in Garland that day so I wasn’t inconvienced too much.

Food was delicious, and the people were very nice. I would’ve given 5, but I want to see what the Mac n cheese is like. 2 thumbs up.

I purchased the curry chicken and jerk pork with plantains, fried dumpling, rice and peas, Mac and cheese. It was very good and has created a deep craving for the food. Great portions. Coworkers loved the leftovers and the spice level. This is not your chilis advertised fake spicy. If it says spicy it will bring some warmth to your soul

I’ll start with a brief overview of Jamaica. When Christopher Columbus arrived in 1494. Just kidding i’m not going to bore you with a history lesson here… Lets talk about Reggae Wings and Tings. Jamaican culture has a very strong global presence. Its musical genres, spicy food, friendly people and beautiful beaches make it a popular destination for many. I have personally never been so my experience with the culture of Jamaica is limited to my experience at Wings and Tings and the this guy i know named Martin. Martin is pretty cool. To appreciate the gravity of a Jamaican restaurant opening in Garland, TX you will need to know a little more about Garland, TX. In terms of culturally diverse options in South Garland, you can get jalapenos added to your burger at Braum’s if you want. Or you can live on the edge and order street tacos from one of the many Taqueria’s.(basic Spanish skills needed.) That’s about it. I should give a shout out to India Garden here. Up until now I think they had the monopoly on culturally diverse food in this area. So now you should be primed and fully understand this strange juxtaposition. It would be like driving around in Fargo and noticing that they have opened a Mi Cocina and people in snow parka’s are sipping on Mambo Taxi’s So here is how it went down in my mind. I walk into the restaurant and a friendly Rastafarian greets me with«Hey Mon!» and hands me a Red Stripe as i sit down. In the background Bob Marley plays«One Love», and the faint scent of marijuana and grilled jerk chicken fills the air as I settle in for a delicious dinner. Back to reality now. I really need to reign in my wandering imagination. Here the deal. I pulled into the strip mall off of Broadway near and Oates then drive to the end of the the corner and there it is. Reggae Wings and Tings. Ironically, the Vietnamese nail salon next door had some Reggaton music blasting. It felt right. The counter lady(forgot her name) greeted me with a warm hello and told me she would be right with me after she helped another customer. When it was my turn she asked if I had ever had Jamaican food before and asked some questions to gauge my comfort level with spicy food. Love it. She was very descriptive and explained the menu and dessert options. Jamaican hospitality is not missing here at all. I elected to place my order to go. However I did get a brief look at the décor. There are a few tables from what I could gather. definitely a restaurant so far. The place was adorned with the colors of the Jamaican flag and had a tropical vibe. I did not feel transported to a cozy beach shack as I had hoped. The spirit of Bob Marley is present here though. Lets get together and Feeeel Alriiight. Lets talk drink options before I get into my food order. I noticed a small selection of Jamaican Drinks as well as the requisite canned soda options you can find anywhere. No Red Stripe unfortunately. I am sure that BYOB is an option however so next time I will bring a six back to go along with my braised ox tail, or curry goat. You can measure the quality of a tex-mex restaurant by the quality of the chips and salsa. I imagine that a Jamaican restaurant is only as good as its Jerk Chicken. Tha’ts what I ordered.(7.99) I have no real basis for comparison here but I always thought that Jerk was a dry rubbed grilled dish. I have learned that it can also be served covered in a sauce wet and roasted in an oven. I suppose this is how it was cooked. For sides I got rice and peas and some spinach. The chicken was tender and juicy. There was a strongly pronounced spicy note in the sauce that increased with each bite. Hints of all spice and clove were scattered here and there creating a cool balance to the heat. This is flavorful stuff. The rice and peas were bland, but helped to temper the spicy jerk sauce. I imagine this is the way it is done at family tables in Jamaica. I cant imagine ordering the Jerk Chicken again without the rice and peas. Pro Tip: You will need that rice. The spinach was chopped finely and sauteed with minced onion. There wasn’t anything in particular going on with the spinach worthy of note. But the 3 items together were a reggae inspired comfort food tri-fecta. I was excited to get the opportunity to try Jamaican food in the land of gar and IM glad I did. The owners are representing Jamaica proudly and my desire to travel there and dive off of a high cliff into crystal blue waters has only grown stronger. Oh I almost forgot to mention my favorite part. Jamaican Beef patty.($ 2.00) I am worn out from this review so I will summarize with a friendly. TL&DR: Go eat at wings and tings.

Will not return… over-priced. Slow to cook. Do not offer everything on menu. Ridiculous price of $ 4.50 for a half-eaten slice of cake. Over-rated and over-priced. Bring back Zulu.
