I dont know about ballrooms or code compliance. I am looking for meal, not trying to get hired by the city. If you dont feel comfortable, maybe go to a chain like On the Border. Yes, the place is sparsely populated, heck, you would never know it is there if not for Unilocal. They don’t have a huge selection, but how many mexican foods are in a typical restaurant? Just different combinations of the same food. They have 4 kinds of Enchiladas, Chicken Mole, Chicken Guiso, some other stuff I did not know but was Awesome, Guacamolie. Boracho and Refried Beans and Rice, Ceviche etc.etc. A little salad bar also and a desert cake. They will make you a Taco and bring out some Flour or Corn Tortillas if you ask. For 8 bucks, you could do a lot worse than this place, like any chain, I thought it was great! No Waiting, decent selection, good food!

Beware that this isn’t a real restaurant, it is a cover for a ballroom. The only reason they are serving food is to comply with city code, so they do it as an after thought so they can use the space as a ballroom. Otherwise the city of Garland would not let that happen, code enforcement and all. I went in around lunch to a large empty business. Towards the back there was a little buffet or two and a very nice man that wanted to tell me about all of the stuff they offered. I really wanted to walk out when I saw the limited food that didn’t look very freshly made, but I felt rude about doing so. I wanna support small businesses so I stayed. I sat there alone in a very large space with nothing but empty tables and ate some food very awkwardly. It definitely felt like an after thought. It wasn’t too expensive, the people were nice, but the woman who checked me out told me that which I explained in my first paragraph about it not being a real restaurant, and that bummed me out. I wish I would have known first and I wouldn’t have felt so guilty about taking off and going somewhere else. She told me about Ernesto’s which would have been nice to know ahead so I could get what is probably actually good Mexican food.

Very Very Good! Sort of Tex Mex meets authentic Mexican. The guacamole is perfection. Queso and lots of sauces to choose from. Salads, barracho beans, pico de gallo, all fresh and on point. The only thing missing is crispy taco shells. If they added these along with the same beef used in the enchiladas it would add a whole other dimension!

The food was outstanding. The enchiladas were awesome! The staff was friendly and for $ 10.65 I ate all the Mexican food I could handle and had a glass of tea. Don’t let the outside fool you, it’s really excellent food!

This place is truly quality over quantity since the selection is really low but everything they serve tastes great. If you ever want more of something you can always ask the person in the front and he would go to the kitchen to get it made for you. Some of the dishes include enchiladas(beef, cheese, etc), re fried beans, chicken fajitas, and other tex mex dishes.

Very impressed! All you can eat mexican food and it’s good quality! Very friendly staff that keeps your drinks refilled and takes care of any other needs you may have. LOTS of seating area. Go in, eat as much as you can, and pay on your way out. $ 8 for buffet plus drink. They are open week days only for lunch; 11 – 3. The rest of their business is hosting events such as church gatherings, weddings, etc.

This place is Ernestos: Buffet Edition. Anyone who has been to the original Ernestos knows, that is a great thing! The thing that stands out to me as most obvious: this place is 8 dollars for all you can eat. Another Mexican buffet chain has you paying upwards of 11 or 12 dollars! I mean, as far as value, you really can’t get any better. The chips and salsa are amazing as well. One side note: They put out the enchiladas in small batches. Try to go get them right as they come out!

Definitely a must go to for lunch. $ 8 for all you can eat Mexican? Great deal, especially considering Panchos is around $ 11-$ 12 now and… well…you know what you’re getting when you go to Panchos. The selection here is very limited and they mainly just have enchiladas along with a few other small dishes like chicken mole. They also have the chips and salsa and rice and bean staples that we have all come to love and look forward to when going to Ernesto’s. They put everything out on smaller, fresh batches so you just may have to wait a few minutes to get the specific enchiladas you’re looking for. Anyways, come give it a try.

Truthfully I came to this place expectations low and unaware of how a Mexican buffet would work. I assumed it would be something like Golden Corral. Boy was I wrong although it had a few choices of food they were by far very delicious choices. The sauce they put on the carne was scrumptious to the point I had to clean off the plate entirely something I only do to my mother’s cooking. The staff friendly and made it feel very homey to me. The only thing that sucks is the hours but I’m sure if more people came they would stay opened late.

So the buffets in Garland are typically horrendous if I’m being blunt and as straight forward as I can be, but Rudy’s stands out. Perhaps not aesthetically, but definitely the quality of the food is far superior to any other buffet style eatery in the area. Limited in its options Rudy’s compensates by having delicious food, it’s a shame really that the place doesn’t have more clientele coming in the food is just fantastic. It’s as homestyle as it can get and the staff is friendly without being overbearing and unappealing. What appears in the photos seems to be what the buffet always offers, a variety of enchiladas, a salad bar, several meat options, and some sides! I can’t stress enough how good the food is, the meat is tender and succulent, the ceviche is sweet with a nice kick. The only thing keeping Rudy back is the lack of customers, if you’re close by I highly recommend coming in. The hours make it a tad difficult to swing on by without planning for it but it’s well worth it. Great restaurant, great staff.

Loved the enchiladas… All the many salsas are delicious. The tilapia ceviche is very good. Fried rice and beans are served as sides. 4 different types of enchiladas on my visit. Pork guiso, chicken mole, and a dish of chicken with stewed poblanos and onions(My favorite) were on offer. Salad and dessert are part of buffet. I will support this restaurant with 5 stars because the people in it were helpful and the food was great. The food is a mixture of tex mex and mex mex.

Was headed to Jimmy’s Big Burgers and noticed that Rudy’s was now open right next door. Walked in and was greeted warmly, but there were no other guests. At 12:30PM. They told me yesterday was their first day. Several people came in while I ate. Buffet only. Not a huge variety, but everything I tried was good, especially the beef and cheese enchiladas. Chips and both sauces they serve with were excellent. About $ 9 for buffet and drink. The space is good sized. Looked like seating for about 160, but could fit more. Looks like they plan to host events/parties. The manager told me they were connected with Ernesto’s down the street. Ernesto’s is superb. The service at Rudy’s had the same feel.
