Super 8 Garland/Near Rowlett/East Dallas

I stay here every time I come to Dallas (3 – 4 times a year). Rooms are always clean and staff is always very nice.

I booked this as part of a package deal. The reviews on another site lured me in.
Big MISTAKE.
Upon arrival the clerk demanded a $ 30 deposit charged to my card. The whole stay had been entirely pre-​paid, I found it very strange. this was
It advertises 100% non smoking. The first room we were given had just been smoked in. We checked two different rooms, they still smelled. One of also older stale cigarette smoke, the other old and moldy. We settled for old. It was clean but smelled. So did all hallways. Two Vanilla air fresheners was purchased helped little.
There are young people around that seem to not be gainfully employed per IRS at least. The oldest profession and their keepers, I suspect.
We felt unsecure at all times and kept the defenses up. We also took our luggage with us at all times. At night I made sure the hatchback trunk of our car was visibly open and empty.
One night there was a domestic event that kept my wife up between 2am to 5am with doors slamming and banging in room next to ours. I had earplugs and she didn’t want to wake me up.
When I mentioned this to the desk clerk, a nice gentle gentlemen in general, in the morning he stated: «oh that was Lisa (?), it’s ok now, she kicked him out.»
I wonder what kind of establishment is being run here. The resident «ladies» seem to have taken over and management has lost control.
One morning there was broken glass in the parking lot. Apparently a car had been broken into.
We decided to cut our stay short and checked out in the middle of the night instead of the regular checkout towards noon.
We would have left a day earlier had the airlines rebooking not been atrociously expensive.

Best value in Garland. Great service, clean rooms, safe environment. Free continental breakfast and inexpensive candy, ice cream, and soft drinks at the front desk. I highly recommend it if you’re on a budget.

Very nice, clean, spacious rooms. Décor is nice and warm, makes you feel like you’re right at home. Great low cost rates, perfect for today’s economy. Four and one half stars for my very first time stay at this location.
