Do not go. If you’re from the north and you know good Japanese food. Don’t waste your time. Just get Chinese or Thai if you want something Asian that night. The fried rice is white rice, with soy sauce and is burnt, or undercooked texture. The noodles have this really odd taste too it. Almost like a sweet not a salty. The dinner is all noodles and a few pieces of steak or chicken. Maybe a couple of small, thin pieces of vegetables if you’re lucky. Just stay away.

Do Not get your $ 7.42 worth of chicken I had more vegetables then CHICKEN. They give you a lot of vegetables so your plate will look full the chicken is cut very small to make it look like more. If I had looked at my plate before leaving they would have giving me more chicken or my $ back. They deserve 2stars but get3stars due to the taste…

I like the Habachi chicken, try the white, sauce it is excellent! A little pricey, but I don’t mind paying for food that is good. For a little carry out joint, it is very clean and has about 10 tables.

This place is horrible compared to the habachi japan in greenville nc. The food was greasy and seemed like it was cooked in a microwave. I wouldn’t feed this food to my dog. They replaced onions with sweet carrots in all of our entrees and didn’t tell us they were out of onions. The rice was nasty and over cooked. All around not worth the 40 dollars we spent.

My family and I get take out from here about once a week. We usually get 2 – 3 plates for the four of us. I definately recommend take out over eating in(the restaurant is small and usually crowded), and order ahead of time(10 minutes before you’ll get there). The food is great — we actually like it better than Kaze.

I don’t get the hate for this place. It’s a typical hibachi place. No, the people are not Japanese but neither is «hibachi» if you really wanna get to the nitty gritty. The«tiny» dining area has 11 tables that each seat 4 so 44 folks… and trust me, on a busy night it will be full and the phone will be ringing for pick up orders. The guy at the front isn’t warm but he’s polite and repeats the order back to you to make sure he’s got it right. The food is good but the chicken is not my favorite. Kinda chewy. Shrimp or scallops are always good. LOVE the ginger dressing. Don’t get sushi here. It’s not a sushi bar so… Stick to Hibachi. It’s always clean and they have a 99.5 sanitation rating so I’m good with that! The«express» means about 15 minutes to get food. Get a salad and be patient. It’s made fresh to order(they will make your veggie combo without a certain veggie if you ask). Come try it out. It’s normal priced hibachi from a clean restaurant that is convenient and pretty fast.

This place is my favorite place to go for Japanese. Cheap, quick, and good. I’ve never had any problems with the place except having to wait if I catch them at a busy time. The people there are not sociable but who cares, they aren’t mean, they just take your order and give you your food. I prefer this place to the expensive places that put on a show.

Disappointing. I’ve now tried this place twice just to see if I just went on a bad day the first time. I wasn’t expecting anything super special, but I was expecting a little more than stir-fried ramen noodles(exactly like the kind you can get 10 of for $ 1 at the grocery store) with some broccoli on top for Vegetable Soba. Zero flavor, literally two little shreds of carrots(I counted) and broccoli. Also, definitely call ahead, you’ll be waiting close to 20 minutes if not.

Good Food! Great Value! I liked the Hibachi Chicken and Chicken Soba. I would also recommend cling ahead of picking up.

Just average. Not express like at all. The staff didn’t seem exactly thrilled with being there either. Also there is some communication issues… and not because the staff was Japanese(they weren’t).The food is edible. The dining area is tiny but appeared clean.

Awful food. Found hair in my sushi. I’d rather take my chances with Trader Joes sushi.

Express my butt! We waited a good 20 minutes. And this was a Thursday night. On top of that, $ 34 for two entrees and two kids meals(no drinks) seems pretty steep for strip mall greasy spoon Japanese food cooked by middle eastern guys. As for the food quality, it was decent. The beef in my Hibachi Steak and Shrimp was a little tough and not that flavorful, but at least the dish had some good veggies. My wife had the Soba, which was very nice but didn’t include much in the way of vegetables.

New Japan Express is THEBEST fast food Hibachi place I’ve tried in the Raleigh area(Garner). For me, the key to a good Hibachi restaurant is awesome white sauce and fried rice; everything else is pretty much the same. I’m SUPERPICKY, & their white sauce is pretty good. You’d be amazed how many big«cook in front of you» Hibachi restaurants get it wrong. If we go to a big place for Hibachi, Kanki is our favorite. I order Hibachi Shrimp & fried rice at New Japan Express — always great, just about as good as Kanki. Sorry, there’s no substitute for the onion soup and onion«volcano,» haha. Crab rangoons were great, too, and something Kanki doesn’t have. My boyfriend always likes his Hibachi steak and rice with mixed veggies. I’ve ordered take out and eaten there, and I haven’t been disappointed yet. Once they accidentally made me Hibachi chicken instead of shrimp – not bad, just not what I wanted. They then cooked the shrimp I should have gotten and had them out in about 2 – 3 minutes, so I got chicken for free! I really enjoy this place.

this is a spot i stopped into tonight to grab some takeout before i started home. the place was clean and has a 100 rating, didn’t take long before my food was ready(about 15 Min’s). i got the hibachi steak, it was ok kinda on the bland side but a splash of white sauce here and there helps alot. i don’t know if it was just a bad night or what but to be honest i wasn’t expecting a miracle here, but you know what they say about first impressions. New Japan Express maybe we got off on the wrong foot but ill come back just one more time to make sure it wasn’t just me being a junior food snob. so till next time NJE(Cuz i believe in second chances)

Great food… honestly really love it. I’m giving the place 3 stars solely on the fact that it’s pricey and that seating is very limited.
