It’s a friendly local tavern. The owner, Jerry, is a hoot. No kids and smoking allowed as posted on the entrance. Nice stop off for a great cocktail and it’s like CHEERS. Everybody knows your name, really!

I was here a couple of years ago and drank with a former Gary cop and a couple of steelworkers. I played a little pool, inhaled a little second-hand smoke and listened to some tunes on the jukebox. Beers are usually a dollar, but since I was there on a Sunday, they were on special for fifty cents. FIFTYCENTBEERS. That is totally worth the risk of contracting hepatitis in the bathroom. I drove past the Thumbs Up today and it looked like it had a fresh coat of paint and a fancy new façade at the front of the building. I really hope nothing changed on the inside. This place is/was an American treasure.
