We had a stellar meal at The Ship Pub. This place is located within the Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Community, away from main strip. Because of this many locals dine here. Where the locals go is always a major considering for me when traveling, especially in heavy tourist areas. Inside The Ship has a very authentic English pub feel. Nothing over the top. Wood throughout. Comfortable and warm. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and quickly brought to a table. I ordered the Shipwreck. An absolutely amazing burger — two 8 ounce patties with ham, pepperoni, bacon, banana peppers, cheese, and a fried egg on a toasted bun. Yes, this is a completely heart attack but some delicious. The toppings did not overshadow the well seasoned and perfectly cooked burger itself. My wife had the Cottage Pie(Sheppard’s Pie with beef) and it was amongst the best she’s ever had. In addition to amazing food The Ship Pub has a very nice draft beer menu including some locals beer and imported from England. This is the best variety I’ve found in the area so far. There are many chains and touristy restaurants found on the Parkway in Gatlinburg. Do yourself a favor and give The Ship Pub a try. The prices are comparable to anywhere else and the food can’t be beat.
