Typically one register open and if someone is buying a license or doing a return it really slows things down. Go to the gun counter and they can ring you up. Even if they are not busy(I’m talking 0 customers), they’ll act like they’re doing you a big favor. Overall they could use more training on how to treat paying customers. I like having a Gander Mountain nearby. Wish the staff were more attentive and friendlier.

I had fun shopping in the store with my dad for Christmas gifts. However, I was underwhelmed with the engagement of the staff. No one looked happy to be there. 2 employees were chatting by the registers so we walked up to that register, I got a «no this one’s not open» and they finished their conversation while we waited to be told where to go. I also noted how cracked /«pot-holed» the front entrance is. This is especially concerning to me as my dad is handicapped and could have fallen. I bought a collapsible cooler and had a question about it when I went to wrap it a few days later. I called the store and chose camping. It kicked up to customer service, a girl named Shelby answered it and carried an extremely rude tone the entire conversation. She told me no one is available, we’re short staffed, no one can help you. You have to call back later to see if someone can answer your question. I asked her if that was seriously what she was saying to me. She then said I don’t know what you expect from me, we’re busy. She then placed me on hold for 10 mins and 45 seconds — someone picked up and then proceeded to hang up. I used to love this store. Not so much anymore.

I’ve had a lot of varied experiences, ranging from 1 to 5 stars, but I’ll just be commenting on my last trip there, which was fun. Decided to buy a .45 semi automatic Hi-Point pistol which was on sale for $ 159.99. The last Hi-Point I bought was $ 219.99 and was only a .380ACP model, which at first I thought was a piece of crap until I broke it in and put about 50 – 75 rounds through it and stopped babying It so much. If the .380 was a good deal at $ 219.99 how could a .45 of essentially the same build and manufacturer be any worse? As I picked it out, the guy at the gun counter kind of chuckled and told me I didn’t want that one, to which I responded that I sure did. He kind of shook his head, but gave me the paperwork anyway. I think from the way that I was dressed(I had just come from a campaign rally so I was in a shirt and tie), I didn’t look like a gun enthusiast. However, I own a pretty substantial«collection» of firearms from all over the world, some manufactured as many as 100 or more years ago. In any event, I told him about how I’d had good experiences with my other Hi-Point and that I didn’t expect this one to be any different, plus the manufacturer has a lifetime warranty against any failures. I think he learned that low prices and manufacturer stigma are not always reflective of poor quality. Anyway, I pick up the firearm tomorrow and am going to have a heck of a lot of fun breaking it in at J & R Shooting Sports(my range of choice) when I get a free weekend. The guy at the gun counter was friendly, by the way. We spoke for a while, and I don’t think that he was in any way out of line. If I had been a gun novice, I probably would have taken his advice, but I’ve got a Mac 10 that shoots .45 Auto and a Barrett .50, as well as about a dozen or so other assorted firearms(probably more than a dozen, but I don’t care to keep count), including some custom jobs. But again, he was a good-humored guy and he definitely knew what he was talking about, so I’ve got nothing against him for trying to steer me in a different direction with the .45s. I just walked in that day knowing exactly what I wanted. Would definitely shop here, and I’m glad the guy who I had a bad experience with previously wasn’t there. Maybe he’s been fired.

Doug W and Mike C. at the gun counter are great. They both were extremely knowledgeable, professional and very helpful when I purchased the AR556 Ruger rifle and other accessories from Gander. I recommend if you are looking for a gun or have general questions about merchandise in the gun department, see them. Awesome job! gentlemen.

Was pouring rain as I was running up. There was randomly 3 employees standing out front. As I was running one woman saw the bag I was carrying and yelled«we’re not doing returns today sir.» I’m still running as I yell back, «that’s ok, it’s my fishing reels. I want to get line put on them.» She then yells, «no credit or debit either. Cash only!» I stop mid run, turn around and go back to my car. What the hell is that?

I think they may be closing. No displays out front or right inside the door. Low stock and extremely rude staff.

We’d recently gotten into archery and decided to go here for two reasons: 1. They had an archery range and advertised on their website that you can try before you buy. 2. They were having an archery sale and event in which you could shoot and then get a discount on accessories. Upon reaching the archery counter, we met a sales guy very much more interested in hocking loogies(yes, seriously) than he was in being useful. He refused to let us try before buying a bow, had no idea about the archery event and sale this specific store was advertising, and was completely unable to setup a bow, make recommendations, measure draw distance, etc. That was all I needed to hear to decide to go shop somewhere else — where I was able to get exactly what I was looking for without a special event even being advertised. Seeing how this store deals with its own special events, I’m pretty certain I never need to see a regular day.

Used to enjoy coming here for the clothing selection/quality. Found the perfect pair of hiking pants for my wife and myself — $ 80 marked down to $ 66. Unfortunately the staff would not honor the mark down price. The pants(about 20 pair) were located on a rack under a sale sign which clearly indicated they were on sale. There also happened to be 5 shirts on the same rack which were apparently what the sign referred to. Cashier would not honor the sale price. Last time i shop there…

The products offered are cool(if not a but over priced) However, the customer service(especially at the gun counter) is TERRIBLE. My husband and I are always nice to whomever we are talking with in a store but some of the male employees are extremely rude, inappropriate, and arrogant. The other poster said it best, hire people who care about your customers and care about their work!

Easy parking and helpful associates who had several ideas on what to get my gun-toting, hunting, deer-slaying brother for Christmas.(Clearly we’re opposites). Bonus — I didn’t have to buy him anything related to guns! They had lots of warm weather gear that could be suited to more general activities!

Not a bad outdoor store. Selection may not be as good as Cabela’s, but this location tends to have a pretty good clearance section with some excellent deals.
