Extremely horrible service. I spent over 400.00 $ on a Haro BMX Bike and a friend bent the rear rim. So of course they did NOT have it in stock. Which I guess is fine. however, I had to special order it which was«supposed» to take a few days(3 – 4). I had to call back 2WEEKS later and the gentleman said, «oh…uh…uh…hold on let me check». 10 min later on hold. «oh yeah its here» Well thanks for the call ill pick it up in 2 weeks since Im already out of town on vacation. I would have picked it up before Inleft but never recieved the call that I was told I would get when they recieved the rim. Then my friend goes in to pick up the rim for me and they say they sold it to some other customer. First of all how can you stay in buisness when you sell other customers special ordered parts to first come first serve. They so called«manager» that I spoke to was extremely rude saying he had no time to talk and was busy. I HIGHLYRECOMMENDTONOT!!! GOTOTHISSTORE !!! THEYDONOTTREATYOUHOW A CUSTOMERSHOULDBETREATED. There are other shops like«The Bike Rack» located near by. Its worth driving the extra 5 minutes to go to another store thats more professional. I dont get how these people sleep at night doing this to people. Please DONOTGOHERE ! YOUWILLREGRETIT.

I brought in a 15+ year old bike that needed professional help with the dérailleur(I was fed up). They said they couldn’t salvage it and I needed to buy a new one and a chain. OK, understandable. I left them too it with the expectation they would get to it by the end of the week. Two hours later I got a call. It was done! The mechanic did beautiful job and was so polite and personable. Same is true with the sales associate. I will return(if my bike looses it on me again).

I will not be going back to Mill Race Cyclery. As a 40 year experienced Cyclist /Bicycle Mechanic and degreed Mechanical Engineer, I look to local shops for odds and ends, small parts, cables, supplies and sometimes help with a special tool that I may not have. I am very familiar with all the processes required to build and tune every type of bicycle. Today I needed 10 seconds of help with seating a headset race on a fork. I don’t have the right tool for this. I was told that they were too busy(on this snowy day in February). This is a 10 second task. Too busy, leave it for a couple days… Who knows what the charge would have been. I went down to Sammy’s in St Charles, and they were happy to take 8 seconds to help me out. I was willing to pay, but they said there was no charge. Thanks Sammy’s.

Stopped here after taking a somewhat fantastic spill on my bike just off the trail. It was close and something was seriously wrong with my handlebars. Anyway… the guy working the register came out and took a look — he actually spent several minutes with my bike, tightening and retightening; testing the steering and the wheel alignment. Long story short, he fixed it — and when we asked what the charge was, he waved us off. I had heard this place was somewhat overpriced and that they charge for everything, but my experience was super-pleasant and greatly appreciated, so I will definitely be back. (For the record, I don’t mind paying more more to shop local, so «overpriced» is relative and certainly not reflective of my own particular experience here.)

So we joined the Morton Arboretum and today was our first day we went there. We decided to rent a few bikes from the booth owned by this company. The bikes were fine and the ride around the park was beautiful… heres where the one star review comes in… when you rent bikes, they make you sign a doc and leave your drivers license to ensure you return the bike. we returned the bikes only to find they lost my license. I travel ALOT for business so my id is critical and now I dont have one. so if the reason they take your id is to make sure you bring the bike back, what if they don’t have my id? I should have shoved the bikes in the car and left. seriously…i told the owner that I expect a refund of my rental fee since now I have to waste a half day trying to get a new license. He seemed surprised which was even more strange… really? He said they would refund me which I haven’t seen yet. Also haven’t got a call nor email stating updates on their search… i spoke at length with the Members office at Morton and they aren’t happy with the situation either. It’s a mess and the process Mill Race Cycle uses to rent there is terrible and unorganized. I have a feeling Morton will be involved here.

We came here to rent bikes to ride up and down the Fox River. I’ve seen it regularly when going through downtown Geneva, but wasn’t sure if this was the best place to go. They have a small parking lot right in front of the building which is never full and pretty convenient. We asked for rates and it’s $ 15 for 2 hours on the comfort and $ 17 for 2 hours on the hybrid with $ 30 for the tandem bike. I asked for a recommendation from the staff and they clearly explained the differences between the bikes so that we could make a decision. We checked out a couple of other places but they weren’t open and another had options which were more for full day than short-term rentals. The rental process was pretty quick and we decided to pass on the helmets since we were going to ride casually and stay on the paths. The bikes were the right size for us and they were easy to adjust and fix(chain fell off twice because I had switched gears at the wrong time). We had a great time with the bikes and returned them considerably over 2 hours later but they only charged us for 2. We also checked out the store for bikes and they had a pretty big sale selection. Some of the models were pretty reasonably priced but we weren’t ready to buy. Overall, a great place to rent bikes and the staff was definitely friendly and knowledgeable even to other customers in the store. Hopefully, we’ll be buying rather than renting soon!

We live in Geneva and have had a couple of bad experiences here, as have our neighbors. Very simply, if you bring your bike in for service and you enjoy getting ripped off, this is the place for you. They invariably will call to tell you the bike needs other things and that if you don’t have it done, something bad will happen. We refused and later took the bike to another shop, who told us the repairs or service suggested were unnecessary.

I bought a bike online for my son. I called two other bike shops to see if they would assemble. The Bike rack, after telling me they would charge $ 250, and I agreed, said they would just take a pass. Clearly did not want to be bothered, which is their right, but you quote me a price, I agree, and then say, «We’ll just take a pass». Thanks so much. Called the one in batavia, and they said they would have to see it before they woujld know-not convenient, since it have to be unopened for me to return it. called Mill Race Cyclery, they said sure(didn’t hem and haw, din’t say they would have to see it first or whatever. They charged me $ 120 and finished before their estimated date and did a great job putting the bike together. It’s the only place I’ll go from now on.

So last year this was my favourite cycling place… they had nice people-knowledge staff a good amount of merchandise… they have just let me down completely and 100%. None of the same awesome people they had are there anymore. The level of knowledge just isn’t there. They may have been a great shop years ago in 2007 – 2012 but now they have new people who are a bit rude and unfriendly and not knowledgeable… and a little arrogant. I don’t want to totally bash this store because it is a local business but let me just say now looking back they overcharged me on MSRP on all of the items I purchased here-The claim is that they add the charge because they set up things like your clips and pedals on your clipless so they tack on additional prices-I have never heard of that before… they charged me $ 700.00 over MSRP for my bike-I won’t be coming back to this bike shop and I have moved onto another bike shop. I ran into another former customer and she stated the poor business practices that she had to deal with. Go in for yourself and see… but make sure you do your research before you go into this store especially on manufactures pricing… and other shops pricing. I think it is just sad what this place has evolved into. Which is a horrible place that doesn’t feel bad about ripping off their customers.

My wife and I went here on the recommendation of our friends and some neighbors. They said the place was awesome, and I will admit their selection is awesome, their downfall was their deceptive bait and switch practices. I checked out their sale item list that states if it’s on the list it’s in the Geneva store for sale. Well… after checking out the sales list and finding a rental Electra Townie they were selling, my wife and I took a trip in to purchase it, like the sales list said to do. We get there and the guy shows us the new ones not the rental in question, then says they aren’t available for sale until after the rental season. I told him that was the only reason we came in was for that particular bike that was on the list. We left disgusted and after further discussion and more time, we called back stating our disgust to Rob and how it felt they were publishing these items on the list to get foot traffic into the store, Rob had no explanation other than it must of been an oversight on the Web guys part. He said he’d call the owner and see what they could do and get back to us. Well… he got back to us today and said they couldn’t do anything but let us put a deposit down to purchase the bicycle in October. I mean that makes sense, that’s how I buy my bikes, cars etc. pick them out, pay for them 90days before picking them up and getting to use them. Since yesterday at least they took our advice and removed the Bait from their sales sheet, and for that I give them 1 star.

Mill Race Cyclery is outstanding! Great selection of bikes and Rob the manager was very helpful and informative. He answered questions I didn’t even know I had! Rob allowed me to test ride a few bikes to see which would be the best fit and feel for the riding style that I was looking for. Great customer service, great prices, and a bunch of great guys. I will definitely go back to Mill Race for all my cycling needs.

The girlfriend and I just rented bikes from Mill Race Cyclery to use for several hours, and we were completely satisfied. The shop is located right along the Fox River Trail(which is great for biking, rollerblading, and walking), their prices are totally reasonable, and the bikes were comfy and in really good condition. There’s even a lot of parking for while you’re out on the trail.

I recently bought an Electra Cruiser here. I found the bike I wanted and was able to complete the transaction quickly. A few weeks later when I brought the bike back for a small adjustment, the service was fast, friendly and the repairman spent the time to explain the intricacies of the shifter on my bike to prevent further visits for the problem. The salesman remembered me and asked how I was liking the bike I purchased. Interactions with the employees of this shop are always pleasant and informative. Better still, I received a card in the mail thanking me for my purchase and giving me $ 25 off my next purchase. This is a great place to buy a bike — I recommend it highly. You can’t beat a place that has quality merchandise, friendly & knowledgeable staff & best of all, has the class to let you know that they appreciate your business!

My husband took me here last week so that we can finally buy bikes again. Side note*his old bike got stolen and mine got hit by some lovely woman’s Lexus* Anyways… we walked in and it was only about 20 minutes from closing time and I felt really bad for coming in so late but the guys that worked there made us feel nothing but comfortable and welcome! We asked questions and they got answered with some of the best answers I have ever heard from a sales associate. The difference between the guys here and the people elsewhere is that these guys really love bikes, biking and everything that goes into it… so that alone will make me recommend them to anyone I know! They were so helpful and friendly that we couldn’t help but buy bikes a wee more expensive than we originally planned on spending… but after their explanation to which bike would be best for my 80 year old back… I couldn’t help for opt for the $ 450 bike! Whoops! There went the bank account! HAHA! But seriously… if you need anything biking related… GOHERE! These guys really know what they are talking about and will help you find the perfect gear that is suitable for you! =]]
