Old Towne Pub & Eatery

Recently rented out the upstairs here for my wife’s surprise 30^th birthday party. I became a little wary upon reading some review regarding the party coordinator, Tiffany. There had been issues, according to some reviews, with her communication, attitude, and the attitudes of the other staff and managers.
I have to say that Tiffany did take a little more time than I would have liked on a few email responses, but overall, my experience with her and the rest of the staff was very positive.
I had no problem being let in to set up before the party, and stopped by about 1 hour before the party began to drop off favors and decorations.
The upstairs was very cool-​looking, kind of industrial, very spacious and open; it easily fit the 50 people who showed up. I opted to pay the extra $ 75 to have our own private bartenders, which worked out great! They were very kind, attentive, and let us play music that we wanted via their bluetooth speakers.
Overall, positive experience, would definitely throw a party here again. One note that I should make, for people that are looking to have a party here, is that you MUST purchase food with the party package, you can not get liquor only. The food that was supplied was ample and delicious!

This is great bar food. Whether you sit inside or outside, which is extremely popular, the servers and the kitchen will give you a great experience.
The day I was there with my wife, they were exceptionally busy and shortstaffed. Despite this problem, they put out our food in a timely manner, with charm, decency and a great attitude.
The burgers are great; the pretzel buns even better and it is simply what it is great bar-​food with no pretension.
Chris who is either the owner or the manager came out and greeted us personally and thanked us for waiting a little extra time for food than expected. He was a gentleman and made our experience pleasant, welcoming, and genuine.
There are many fine restaurants in Geneva but Old Towne Pub and Eatery is a place just to go and kickback, chill and enjoy your food, watch sports on the TVs or sit out in the sun or simply converse. This place is number one for me and I’ve eaten at five different places in Geneva.

Loved it! We had the Shrimp appetizer which was amazing, but I would have to say its always the service!!! I am always impressed when a Pub has champagne and even a true champagne glass to service it in! I will definitely recommend it and will go back! If you want a friendly place to go either as a couple or a group this is the place!

Not a bad place, but desperately in need of a small vestibule. Always too cold inside. Turn the damn ceiling fans down in mid-​winter.

Typical bar food with a typical beer list. They have TVs, a basement «lounge» near the bathrooms, and an outdoor patio upstairs.
The interior is nice and they have some solid items on the menu, but all of that is overshadowed by the absolutely horrible service.
I’ve been coming here for years, and the service has never been great. The staff seems to just float around and chat with each other while you’re waiting at your table. However, it’s a casual spot so it never really bothered me, and I still brought my friends here when they visited from out of town.
Big mistake.
The bartender ended up losing my friend’s credit card the night before they left town. She apparently swiped their tab on another person’s card and then let this stranger walk out with a card that was not theirs. Still, we were assured that the bartender knew this person, so we «shouldn’t worry about it.» Apparently, the easiest course of action was for the bartender to just pay our tab with the stranger’s card and come to pick up ours in the morning. We were shuffled around for about 45 minutes while all this was happening, with very little communication. When someone did finally tell us what was going on, they completely shrugged it off and didn’t seem to understand why this might be an issue.
Still, they promised that the card would be back at the bar by opening the next morning. I live nearby so I told my friend I’d come by and pick it up. I called the next morning, but obviously the card wasn’t there yet. In fact, the people working had absolutely no idea what I was talking about. Apparently, no one had even left a note.
I called every hour to check on the missing card, but no one was able to locate it. Finally, I went by at around 1pm and the card had miraculously appeared. Again, no one behind the bar had any idea what I was talking about. I just came in and asked about a card they should have with my friend’s name on it. Then they handed it to me, even though — in retrospect — why the hell would they give me a card that wasn’t mine? I guess it’s just one more service Old Towne offers? My friend ended up having to stay an extra day because of the whole mess, but I don’t expect anyone at Old Towne to care about that. The whole experience left a black mark on what was otherwise a moderately enjoyable average hangout spot.
Anyway, come here for beer and food if you feel like it. They have both of those things. However, I’d probably stick to cash or spend my money where the staff can handle basic responsibilities.

A few Sundays ago, I stopped by with friends for a few drinks before heading downtown for a show. It’s a really nice pub. What really made it great was how hospitably Shelby took care of at the bar. Even though it was busy and hectic that day, she made us feel comfortable there and kept the drinks coming. We had such a great time there that we almost left late for the show.

This is a very good pub, with decent food and a nice patio. The location is fantastic. I am a lunch customer, and I always leave wondering why I don’t go more often.

I want to start this off by Saying I’ve been in the industry for 10years and hate bad reviews as much as anyone! But I WOULD NEVER DREAM OF TREATING ANYONE THE WAY ME AND MY FAMILY WERE TREATED!
My mother and future sister-​in-​law were planning my fiancé and me engagement party here… It never happened
Tiffany (the event coordinator) was friendly and helpful in the beginning. When it got closer to the date of our event she became harder and harder to get a hold of. It seems there are some MAJOR communication issue between her and her staff!
She wouldn’t return phone calls or emails to confirm ANYTHING!!! When she did finally respond to confirm anything, and we showed up to carry it out… it was quickly shot down by their rude staff.
She even blew off my mother and sister-​In-​law for a meeting that she set up! The day before our event she said we could come in At 5pm to decorate, then called us 30min. Before to change the time to 6pm. When we got there at 6 there was a party in our space.
I realize this is not the staffs fault, and that there was some major frustration from our part but, the staff was less than friendly or helpful!
The waitress Amanda was rude, ignores us all together, and even went as far as to brush past me on the stairs and give me the stink eye for no apparent reason. When we went to the bar to speak with a manager I overheard her talking badly about my family behind the bar in front of customers! When I called her out about it she had an even WORSE attitude and the bartender/​«manager» did not even apologize for her staffs behavior!
The bartender (the owners sister) made an effort to be accommodating but when she called Tiffany to fix the issue… Tiffany changed up the story completely.
This was typical of Tiffany! She would say yes to things and when we showed up to the location the staff would tell us no. Either Tiffany doesn’t know what she’s doing or her staff is just accommodating.
We asked to speak to the owner, or Tiffany’s boss on many occasions (not just the day before the event) to witch we got the run around on multiple occasions from whoever was bar tending.
When we finally got the speak to the owner, he was RUDE!!! He spoke to my mother like a stray dog and told her to never show her fucking face in his bar again and to have our lawyer call his.
You would think that a business owner would want to know how his staff is treating his customers, he does not. We found out later that the entire staff is essentially his family/​friends! No wonder he doesn’t care how they act!
They cancelled our event because of Tiffanys inability to communicate with anyone properly less than 24 hours before the event. AND ARE REFUSING TO RETURN OUR DEPOSIT REGARDLESS ON A PROMISE TO RETURN IT OVER EMAIL. Real socking. I’m sure him and Tiffany are laughing about it in bed together somewhere!
Needless to say we had our pArty of over 60 people elsewhere and were much happier!
Avoid this place and their TERRIBLE customer service at all cost!

The bartender and (supposedly) manager needs a customer service wake up call. I accidentally left my CC at the bar Saturday. I see there’s a higher than expected charge on my account from Old Towne. I go in the next day to pick up my card and ask for a receipt. The extremely rude and short bartender is hell bent on making sure every single patron is fully topped off before finally resorting to me. Because I don’t have all night I ask for their manager assuming they can help give me my card, and an itemized receipt considering the charge is questionable. She tells me «I am the manager» with a side of [go _​_​_​_​_​yourself]
She makes it painfully obvious my request for the receipt is an extremely tall order for her. Several minutes and 7 «looks» later she finally produces a receipt which is slammed to the bar top as she storms off to fully confirm I’ve really put her out. Sure enough, as expected the drinks on my bill and the charged amount were inaccurate. Is the disputed amount worth my time to deal with bartender for another second? No, I’ll just never go there again, and when a group of us go out I’ll be sure this place isn’t on the list.

Was very disappointed with my experience there today. It started with, «what is you Bell’s seasonal?» «Oh we actually don’t have any.» «OK…I’ll have the Lagunitas IPA.» «I know it says we have that too, but we don’t.» Please, if you don’t have a beer, don’t keep the tap handles on to try and pull some illusion. Got the South Philly Burger and it was ok. The sweet potato fries were very good though. Definitely my favorite part of the experience. After we were finished with our meals, the Bears game started. We were asked if we were going to stay for the game, and we said yes. Proceeded to not see our server for an hour. Other servers just kept looking at our empty glasses while they flirted with their other tables. Will not be returning.

Sat outside today-​nice rooftop patio. Service was pretty good. Good was good-​they have really awesome BBQ sauce! Definitely will go back to try more off of pretty extensive menu for a pub. I definitely like the atmosphere both inside and out.

Pretty cool sports bar. I was pleased. Jon Taffer may be pleased with this little pub. I found it so cool that when you walk in, there are self serve taps on the booth tables. That’s pretty bomb… I think that’s the first time I’ve ever seen that. They have a very hospitable staff. Also, the have a popcorn bar self serve station. That’s fun!
Ordered the potato skins and my husband order their Aussie Burger. Really really good. Crispy skins is a win in my book. The Aussie Burger was good. The only thing was we ordered it medium and it was overcooked. Great flavor but the what ruined it was the burger being over done.
Another thing was we waited for our food for 45 minutes and our meals were somewhat dry looking, as if it had been sitting under the heat lamps for quite some time. The kitchen seemed to be backed up.
Don’t get me wrong, even though it was a long wait, I still enjoyed this place. Will definitely be back to try out their rooftop dining for sure.

So we showed up and sat down and waited 20 mins for help. We saw 3 – 4 ppl walk past us several times, but no one acknowledged us. We then decide to leave and as we walked out the waitress didn’t even say anything to us. I let her know we were leaving and our table was available she just replied «okay». As we continued to walk out I stopped at the bar to ask for a manager but no one was there for a few minutes. When someone finally asked me if I needed something it was the manager and she walked past me a few times earlier as well. Ask this point she said she was sorry and offered a gift card, I was grateful but declined. Wish I could make a review on the food but instead this is just service based review.

We have been coming to Old Town for quite a while and lately things have changed to the negative. Their menu improved dramatically a couple of years ago but in the last few months I can’t say many positive things. They have taken food items off the menu that we ordered all the time and they consistently don’t have draft beers like Blue Moon. Things are bad enough to have forced us to check out other pubs in town. When we mentioned our concerns to our server, the response we got was that they «constantly are trying new things». The changes they are making are turning away old time customers like us who like quality, modern food consistently.

Have been here twice and both times I had to have the Hawaiian Burger. It is so incredibly wonderful! Some tables have make shift taps on them… so authentic. Waitresses are friendly and service is quick and responsive to every need no matter how little. No attitudes when you ask for something different. The people that come here are a total mix in age group. The Monday night I came my $ 12 burger was only $ 5 bucks as were all burgers and my friend loved hers as well. Just an all around great space for night or lunch. Five stars for excellent food and superior service!

Awesome food, staff, and beer selection! I got served the best burger of my life, did I mention the have table taps? Yes, beer taps on your table! This is a MUST TRY!

Food and service are both unbelievable. The wings and buffalo shrimp totally made my day. Our server was attentive but not annoying and incredibly friendly. We accidentally came here instead of another place we had read about. We couldn’t be happier with our choice. It’s very rare the my rum and diet has more rum than diet. It happened here. Every drink!

Terrible service. Bartender named chad was extremely rude. Management should really consider him a liability.

3.5 Stars here/​Always busy bustling sports pub joint! They have taps at the tables and a really nice beer list. The food is a step above average with a pretty extensive menu. Service is great/​the cute girls do a great job here! Lots of locals– get dat did

Great place for a bite and a brew! Monday $ 5 burgers is the best deal in town! Try the grilled wings they are phenomenal!

I come here often with my coworkers. I personally really like their food and choices of alcohol. They have my favorite cider which is hard to find in the fox valley area. The atmosphere is very laid back and casual, perfect for work lunch meetings. My boyfriend was impressed with the beer choices and the tables with the built in taps. I haven’t had a bad experience yet.

Nope. Won’t ever be back. Gave it the three strikes you’re out rule and they’re out. Things I like about it — great location, great décor. Things I don’t like — food is overpriced and undersized. Portions too small. Waitstaff is awful If you’re going to pride yourself on having craft beer, then TRAIN YOUR STAFF to know what beer is and what you have on tap. It is a chore to hear the beer list and never once have they been accurate or friendly. The worst part of all, the noise. The music is so incredibly loud you cannot hear other people talk. If there’s live music, game over. Do not come here to socialize; you will not be able to hear each other. If there’s a game on, the TVs are insanely loud. I don’t understand it. Won’t be back but it’s a shame because it’s the only place of it’s kind in Geneva.

ABSOLUTELY terrible treatment, called Monday afternoon to make a Tuesday 6:30pm reservation for booth for dinner. She said reservation really wasn’t at all necessary for that time of the evening on a weeknight but I was concerned that seeing as later that night there would be a Blackhawks playoff game and it might get crowded so I wanted to be sure we’d get seating, and a booth at that. Girl took name & said all set, see you tomorrow at 6:30. (We weren’t coming for the Hawks, simply for dinner)
Arrived with their Please Seat Yourself Sign in plain view (sure enough, at 6:30 prior to the 8pm Hawks game it was extremely dead in the place). Saw RESERVED sign on one of the several available open booths but didn’t want to be presumptuous so found server to ask if that was the one for us (3 ladies). The bartender spoke with her and had her tell us they had no reservation for us and who had I talked to the day before. I had no idea of her name, but seeing as they were so dead now he said we could have a booth. She seated us & asked if we’d be using the tappers. Said no seeing as we were having other (alcoholic) drinks that didn’t require tapper. She took our drink orders and came back and said bartender said we couldn’t sit in booth because we weren’t utilizing the tappers. (Huh??? They never asked when taking my reservation if we’d be using the tappers, never asked before «conceding» to letting us have a booth «seeing as it was so dead at 6:30» if we’d be using the tappers) and on top of that he sent the poor young hostess girl to deliver the news that we were now being evicted from the booth (that no one else was even looking to use, and that I had made a reservation for the day before to ensure we’d get a booth!!!).
Clearly they were looking to keep it free for other bigger drinker$ for later during the game, but come on… have some etiquette, especially when the place was so sparsely attended at 6:30! And if indeed that’s how you choose to run the place, don’t hide behind the bar and send the sacrificial lamb of all of about 19 years of age to tell us, she was clearly uneasy having to be be the one to be a jerk to us. She kept apologizing. We knew it wasn’t her doing or fault and told her not to worry and that we felt badly for her having to tell us, and badly for her that she was working for such a jerk! Needless to say we left and spent our drinking and dining money elsewhere.
POOR, poor management style.

This has got to be the worst bar of all in Geneva and the sad part is that we have so very few. If you are looking to have fun in Geneva I would not put Old Towne on your list. I used to go to Old Towne and decided it probably was just me… I am at Old Towne now and I have realized that the beer drinkers in the Fox Valley that can’t go anywhere else go to Old Towne because they apparently are not allowed or welcome anywhere else…
Anyway, that is my opinion, sorry just call it the way I see it…

After the renovations I feel like this is a new bar! The tableside taps are awesome! Love the concept! The food is always exceptional and the atmosphere is always upbeat.
They added A LOT of new TV’s! Good viewing angles from all over.
And the server we had last, shame on me for not getting her name, was by far the most energetic and fun server we have had there.
I really look forward to my next trip to Old Towne!
