I love that there is this distillery down this rural road surrounded by farms, wineries, and B&Bs. The layout of the building is perfect for the location– it’s shaped like a barn both inside and out, but a newer building of course. There was a nice crowd on the Saturday night we stopped in. I appreciate that they are open late and it feels like a bar atmosphere. I can imagine it’s even busier in the summer. The tastings were really cheap, which was nice for people who do not know their particular tastes in whiskey. So it was cool to try them all to decide which we enjoyed most, without having to pay for full-price drinks for each type. The service was decent, but nothing phenomenal. She welcomed us, poured our samples, and told us a little bit about each drink. We ultimately decided not to order any additional drinks, realizing quickly that although this was certainly some quality whiskey, we just are not into whiskey! But I’m glad we got that out of the way and learned a little bit in the process! Heck, for a whiskey drinker, this may be a 5-star establishment! **An interesting little tidbit– the restrooms are located in an outer building(not an outhouse, an actual building specifically for the restrooms), so one has to walk out the front door of the bar, walk around the building to the back and walk down a well-lit path out to the outer building’s restroom. I had no problem doing this at night myself, but I informed my wife that I wouldn’t send her out there alone. Although a nice establishment, you can not control the creeps that could be hanging around in the parking lot waiting for a woman to walk out there alone. So ladies, take a friend with you!

Just an ok spot. We stopped on a Thursday afternoon. The girl working the bar wasn’t too helpful. She didn’t know much about their bourbon, vodka, brandy and rye. We had a sample of each. They were pretty young tasting. We would love to go back in a year or so and see how they have grown. Red Eagle Distillery however had a really good draft beer selection and a nice patio out front with a good view of the vineyard.

Love this place! Came by for the ice wine festival. I will be coming back! Super awesome building. I can’t wait to try more here.

Having just moved from California to Cleveland for grad school, I was eager to check out Ohio’s wine country. While the area was fairly nice, Red Eagle was the only place that actually blew us away. We managed to just sneak in at closing time, but the owner happily poured us some samplers and talked about his operation. I’ll admit I’m a bit of a bourbon and rye snob, but I’ve never had anything with this kind of character. Smooth, spicy, and just plain delicious. I haven’t had vodka since high school, but the one they distill from Concord grapes was one of the best spirits I’ve had. We were expecting to have a drink or two before heading home, but I walked out with 3 bottles. This is one of the few things I’ll be bragging about to my friends back home in Ca. Not to mention it’s dirt cheap for what you’re getting.

While the drinks are delicious and very flavorful, they are not very potent. $ 8 for a beverage with little alcohol seems a tad steep. The scenery and atmosphere are very beautiful, and if you get a chance stop and indulge.

I would have gone for 4.5 stars I Stopped in randomly by accident — and what a happy accident! I met Kevin, one of the Distillers and he told me all about the place. It is a must see. The interior is a beautiful restored barn with hand cut timbers. The bar is comfortable. The bourbon is very good. It is a little different than the big name brands from down south — but it is made here in Ashtabula Co. Small barrel distilling vodka, Rye and bourbon. A healthy selection of craft beers — and a full selection of other spirits(if you desire — but why would you?) The only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars — no food. BUT– — you can bring your own and picnic(inside or out) — so that is a really cool option as well.

They have an awesome assortment of drinks on the menu, something for everyone. Weird thing is that you can’t order drinks with the actual bourbon that they make because of some law in Ohio that prohibits it. You can although do 2 tastings of the bourbon, which is great. I prefer their Rye bourbon.

This is a small batch distellery. I love the concept and I appreciate their effort. Hard to believe I was in Geneva, Ohio! Spirits — They offer samples of their product for $ 1 each and they have bourbon and a rye. They also offer other brands and they do sell cocktails. It’s a perfect place to sit and enjoy the countryside. Check out their website for more details. As of this review, they claim to use only non-GMO corn. Great to know! Service — They are very nice and knowledgeable. They were happy to answer questions and allowed us to go downstairs to see their still. Facility — It’s located in a fabulous old barn.
