OMG where do I start!!! Delicious, great flavor! Had ribs, fried chicken that was so flavorful! Corn bread was nice and moist. Creamy mac & cheese! What a gem for Geneva!

Great food super friendly owner — the food is true home cooking and if you have to wait for the chicken do it — it’s worth the wait

So ooohh gooood… catfish perfectly cooked, large, served with plenty of tarter sauce. Best collards ever! Redman is the bomb! While we waited for our freshly cooked food, he came to the table to chat. Great guy and great restaurant. While it may be small, it does not disappoint. Redman’s heart is all over this place. I will return.

By far the best catfish I have ever had. The batter was TODIEFOR. If it’s the same batter they put on the chicken, I wish I could have had both. Met Redman personally, and he was so sweet! My only objection to this wonderful establishment is that they use styrofoam and plastic cutlery, which is no good to an eco friendly nut like me. Otherwise, all out amazing!

I am staying in Geneva for two days and was looking for something different, have been a bit skeptical of some ratings as they seem to be inflated in this area. I can fully attest that this is not the case for Red Man’s. I had the combo plate and was not disappointed. It is not often that quality and quantity meet, but this was one of them. The ribs were tender with a tasty sauce, fried chicken was crispy and not not greasy outside while being juicy and done inside. The sides were equally delicious with the Mac-n-cheese being creamy just like I wish Mamma would have made, while the greens were tender and well seasoned. My wife got the fried haddock and she was delighted. She enjoyed the homemade tarter sauce, but stopped using it as she didn’t want to cover the taste of the fish. She also got the rice with gravy which she felt was quite tasty. The owner and his wife waited on us and were extremely friendly, he was definitely born to be in the restaurant business. Can’t wait to try the Banana pudding we got to go, but will have to as I am still filled from dinner(as is my room fridge with leftovers)

Let me just start by saying that I’d give Redman’s 5 stars for the collards alone. They were as good as any collards I’ve had anywhere – and I’m a Texas girl who chases barbecue, so I’ve had a few. We stopped in for lunch on a random Tuesday, and Redman himself was behind the counter. We both ordered the rib lunch, and asked him to recommend the sides. We ended up with collards, rice and gravy(YUM!), mac & cheese, and potato salad. Of the four, the mac and cheese was the least interesting, but the potato salad was the hubs’s favorite of the sides. The ribs had just the right amount of tug, the meat was smoky and tender, and I loved the sauce. I don’t like sweet sauces(that Texas thang), so the savory flavor was everything I could’ve asked for. We’re plotting a return trip for the chicken soon. Very, very soon.

We found these guys here on Unilocal. The food was amazing and the owners were great. Some of the best food we have had on our trip. My wife isn’t a big fan of fried chicken but tried it and loved it.

After checking out wineries all day, my husband and I were seeking some good olé comfort soul food. Redman’s was perfect. We were greeted at the door like family and then led thru the available menu to help us decide what to order. I went with the combo fried chicken and spareribs with collards and Mac n cheese. My husband had a sausage and beef burger with collards and Mac n cheese. Everything was great. They even gave my husband a cooking tip for makin up a mess of collards at home. The chicken was crispy and moist interior, Mac was good and cheesy, collards just a tad peppery, and the two spare ribs were meaty and smoky. We didn’t have room for the sweet potato pie, but maybe next time. Good R & B favorites made me feel like dancing!

Stopped here for a quick bite with my wife and kids. I had the fried catfish sandwich, which was the best fish sandwich I’ve eaten. Well breaded and juicy. Again, get the fish sandwich. Kelly and Redman own the place and she is hospitable and gracious. Worth the trip and even worth a detour. Amazing.

Winner! Winner! Chicken dinner! Great food! The chicken is really good. Don’t be discouraged by the roadside appearance. Stop and meet Redman and he’ll treat you like family. Definitely a new stop whenever I’m in Geneva again.

Excellent food. Friendly owners. We had the bbq chicken which was terrific. Hot and juicy. Collards, Mac n cheese and cornbread all first rate. I promised to bring some fish to cook up but realized after I left we’re not yet in season!

Absolutely mediocre. Ribs were ok but one of them had a little funky smell near the bone. Fried chicken was decent and the mac salad and potato salad were no worse than what you’d get from the local Safeway. All in all, I’ve experienced better. Owner was friendly tho

The rule of thumb for BBQ joints is if the place looks like a dumb/shack then the chances are the place has amazing food. Redman’s fits the parameter. For western NY, this BBQ joint does a decent job. I have had BBQ in KC, Oklahoma and Houston and Redman’s Chicken and Ribs is just a step shy. The combo platter, consisting of chicken and ribs is the way to go. The crispy chicken skin slurps right off and the seasoned rib meat detaches from the bone effortlessly. The location on Pre-emption Road is on the outskirts of Geneva but it’s a small enough town allowing it to be a few minutes drive from basically anywhere(5 minutes from Hobart’s campus). It is obvious the owner is also the head chef. He does a great job and has totally built this place from the ground up. Tip of my hat to that dude. The cornbread muffins given with every meal is always the cherry on top. If you want something new or different, try Redman’s.

They’re so nice here! Even though I couldn’t finish my collard greens, mac n cheese and fried chicken, redman himself cooked us up some fried green tomatoes and said they’d be on the menu soon. This place is so fun and friendly — from the delicious food right down to Otis coming from the speakers.

Fantastic!!! Family really enjoyed pulled pork sandwiches and the fried chicken plate was perfection! The collards are like those my Yazoo City Mississippi grandfather made. The Mac n chz will please any cheese lover and everything piping hot made to order. Redman himself was there to check on us and extended the kind of Southern hospitality you don’t find often. As we left with eight of eight thumbs up driving passed the Ponderosa, we felt sorry for the poor sods eating there. They missed a real foodie culinary treat! Try them once and ya’ll be comin’ back for sure! Oh and Unilocal directions tag them a little further up from Hamilton than they are — look on your right.

After trying the ribs, I really want to try the fried chicken. Thank you to previous Unilocalers for helping me find this place. Now I’m looking forward to my next trip to the area so I can try mor things on the menu. The ribs are enormous and delicious, as was the Mac and cheese. The collard greens had a little kick. If you want a down home rib and chicken joint than I doubt you’ll be disappointed.

Quite possibly the only soul food joint in at least a 30 mile radius if not more? I was surprised and skeptical when I drove past Redman’s. The exterior is modest and the parking lot is basically a gravel area outside the front of the place that I doubt could fit more than a few cars. Looks like if you are getting a take-out order and want some of their fried chicken, calling ahead is the way to go. I ordered a chicken and rib combo so I could get a taste of what Redman’s is working with. Got mac and cheese and greens as sides. tough decisions because I hear the mac salad is slammin. There is a decent size dining area here, but inside the kitchen it looked to be a 1 woman show so I suspect eating in would be a time consuming process. I thought the food was pretty good. The chicken wings I got were perfectly fried, moist, flavorful, you name it. The ribs were another story. A little too fatty, and Fred Flinstone sized, they were difficult to eat. I’m not so much a fan of fall of the bone tender ribs; half the fun in eating them is using your hands and these required a fork. Mac and cheese and greens were solid. I didn’t get any dessert, but might next time. I intend to frequent this place regularly to get my soul food fix
